Our daughter is transitioning from one Muskoka summer camp to another this weekend. This hotel was just what our family needed for this overnight stay. The room is simple, clean and comfortable. A good shower for the daughter and comfy beds for a good night sleep. The decor is retro, but the room includes a fridge and microwave. The AC unit is built into the wall, but it’s not noisy and sleep-disturbing. Continental breakfast is also included.

Location was good. Ample free parking at back of hotel. Joel was quiet with no street noise. Room is dated but large and comfortable. Internet was good. Bed was comfortable. Check in and out was quick. Just a comment on check in.. my credit card info was recorded on paper and run through payment system. I found this odd, so if you don’t want your card info recorded for posterity, steer clear.

Fast check in, Clean room, decent free breakfast. Cool natural rock formation in lobby. On the older side but makes up for it everywhere else. Would stay again, in the summer time it's about an 17 min walk to Sawdust Brewery which is a must visit if in the area.

We stayed at this hotel/motel on Friday AUGUST 20th, 2021. My wife (when booking several weeks earlier) asked for a room for the handicapped as I have mobility issues Upon our arrival, I was very disappointed with the room as I was expecting their "handicapped" version of the bathroom to be equipped with devices that are typically found in standard rooms for the disabled. The bathroom was pathetic!! There was no hand-held shower wand, no heavy-duty "anti-slip" bath mat for the tub, no grab bars on the tub surround and no plastic bench seat inside the tub allowing me to sit while showering. These items are essential for people who are disabled and for the price we paid ($170.00 + tax) to rent this room for one night, this was totally unacceptable! WHY would this hotel NOT provide these BASIC (essential) features for handicapped people with mobility issues....????!!! We will not be staying at this Howard Johnson motel again!

Stayed here for two nights in July, booked well in advance requested two queens on the bottom floor as the wife knee's are bad. Arrived at around 2.30 pm and was told no queen rooms available on the bottom floor, even the note was on the desk stating the request! So they said they would upgrade us to 2 double beds on the bottom floor, well am over 6ft and sleeping on a double is very tuff with your feet hanging over. So not really an upgrade!! Plus dogs barking in the next room not much sleep. Will not stay here again. Plus we ether we froze or sweated as the air condition was up and down.

This property offers great value considering the location. We were only staying overnight as we were in Muskoka for a wedding. The room was large enough that it could’ve been used by a family of four if you wanted to stay a few days. The property was clean and the staff very friendly.

The staff were very friendly, but the rooms were dirty. They smelled musty and the counters hadn't even been wiped in either of our two rooms. Location is decent with ample parking. They offer a complimentary breakfast, which included only cereal, bread, and bagels.

Growing up, my family would always stay at the Howard Johnson’s throughout North America. So, the refurbished rooms that pay hommage to the past made it a great experience. Also, Helena Tran’s superb customer service made my stay even more pleasant. When I told her about my history with the Howard Johnson she went out of her way to come to our room to give me a hotel notepad and pen. She is a delightful person!

Kind regards,

Maureen O’Connell

Stayed overnight before a triathlon, and loved the experience. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly, very accommodating, and took the time to take care of us. I've stayed in literally hundreds of hotels, large and small, over the course of my global biz travels in the last 12 years, and this hotel is the best overall value for money.

My husband and I stayed one night at this hotel. One night too much. Room 206 was disgusting. The cover for the ice bucket was coated with grease/oil and some unknown black substance. It was replaced by the check-in desk after presenting it to them. The ceiling and wall at the sink were also spotted with what looked like grease. The entire hotel left a lot to be desired. Carpet on stairs was musty and dirty. Breakfast was also lacking. Although there was bagels, bread and cereal, no hot items present. Disappointing. Only double beds in this room. Noisy. Air-conditioning unit noisy and cold air blowing across beds make sleeping uncomfortable. Will not be staying there again.

No... no pool and no longer any restaurant either... but rates are more reasonable than other hotels in the area.
