EXTREMELY Clean, Very accommodating, easy to deal with young couple Robyn & Spencer that are a phone call away living across the street!. They aim to please! Fantastic breakfast worth having anytime. Only issue was no facial tissues or hair dryer and a weird shower for a 6’ person.(Maple Room). Have a 5 star rating because it has GREAT potential.
pleasant and professional hosts, very tasteful rooms and a great breakfast. We walked the neighbourhood the evening of our arrival and the following morning. The area is pleasant and quiet. Restaurants in the immediate area are limited so driving to the mall area opens more offerings.
My fiancé and I stayed here for two nights, on our way to and from Fogo Island and Twillingate. Robyn and Spenser were excellent hosts. The house is comfortable and spotless. We had great sleeps in the air-conditioned room. They served a lovely full hot breakfast with excellent coffee and cheerful smiles. We have stayed in many B&Bs and highly recommend this one.
We stopped for 1 night on our way back to catch the ferry. It was a lovely comfortable stay. We got checked in quickly and found the room verycomfortable and charming. Breakfast was delicious and we departed early in the morning. I would certainly recommend a night or two here. Lovely host
Stayed for one night at this immaculate Bed and Breakfast! Great hosts, delicious breakfast, comfortable room... all you’ll ever need in accommodation in Grand Falls Windsor! We enjoyed chatting with our hosts, who are quite friendly and welcoming to all guests.
This B&B is located in a house (it's for sale as of this writing) in a nice residential part of Grand Falls-Windsor. It faces a leafy street but on the side is a busy road and not far behind it are commercial properties. We kept hearing singing the evening we were there but could not trace where it was coming from. The breakfast is large, hot, and bull service with the guests seated around a single large square table. The room we had was compact and over decorated. We could hear noise from adjacent rooms. They have a requirement to remove shoes in the house but did not provide slippers, even the throwaway kind. There is parking for the house near the garage but getting in and out can be a challenge when the place was full as there is no easy way to turn around. The highlight of the place was the co-owner, Joanne Hurley who is a classic highly opinionated old school Newfoundlander who loved to talk about running a boarrding house in Corner Brrook and doing her own shooting of moose and other animals. Good place for one night but check to see if the property sold and is still a B&B.…
We had to drive from L’Anse aux Meadows to St. John’s to catch a plane and so decided to stop in Grand Falls for a rest along the way. After scouring the internet for accommodations in town, we saw that most other places had terrible reviews. Ergo, we opted for this well-rated and centrally located B&B. We’re starting to wonder if we’re all talking about the same B&B. We certainly have stayed in worse places but we do not concur with the rest of these glowing reviews. Let’s start with the positives: the ‘Exploits Room’ was incredibly spacious, with an extra sitting room off to the side, the King bed was comfortable and the bathroom had some real charm, kitted out with a claw foot bathtub and old time shower surround. That said, it was definitely a bit tired and had virtually no ventilation. We’d experienced nine different accommodations during our Newfoundland trip and this was our least comfortable sleep. The other places devoid of air conditioning allowed you to open windows, letting a sufficient breeze through. Most of the windows in this room are painted shut. The one or two you can jimmy open had torn screens and let the bugs in (feasting on us through the night). The ceiling fan didn’t help whatsoever. In fact, the other guests complained that their accommodations were equally stuffy, the next morning. Although the claw-foot bathtub does have a bit of romance about it, it can be tricky to bathe in (I’m 5’4” and I had to shower on my knees, as did my hubby) – not fun when you’re middle aged. The main thing that put us off was when our host called in the am, the day of our arrival, to align a check-in time. We had an 8 hour drive ahead of us, so it was hard to pinpoint. Initially he expected us to work around their schedule, even though our ultimate ETA (2 hour window) was well within the prescribed check-in hours. After some push back, they agreed to accommodate us. There was also a temperamental doorbell that made entry awkward, but he insisted it was fine. I guess we just don’t understand how doorbells work. Shortly after this experience, we noticed the ‘For Sale’ sign in the yard, which kind of gave the game away. We sensed that they might be ‘over it’ and ready to move on. In the morning, the breakfast was decent and the far more affable hostess regaled us with her amusing stories, so all was not lost. As such, we certainly wouldn’t give this place a scathing review, but ‘average’ is the best we can eek out, considering what we paid. We hate to provide negative reviews for anyone (gave all our other Newfoundland stays 4-5 stars), but we wish other guests had prepared us better for this stay. Judging by the reviews of most other places in town though, this still sounds like your best bet – just prepare not to be wowed!…
Hill Road Manor B&B is a charming and VERY comfy B&B. Wilson was a gracious host and very careful to avoid cross-contamination in order to accommodate my allergy to gluten. He painstakingly cleaned his toaster the night before to ensure that the gluten-free bread he provided me in the morning could be safely toasted. The food was very good. The rooms were impeccable and the beds were very comfortable. This is a family-friendly B&B, which was greatly appreciated. Wilson is a very hospitable host and we will absolutely stay at Hill Road Manor again on our next visit to Newfoundland. Celiacs and the Gluten Intolerant need not worry here. You are in good hands with Wilson.
This is an immaculate old manor house which has been beautifully restored. We had a suite with a king size bed and ensuite bath with a claw tub and double sinks. The room also had a separate sitting room. Breakfast was delicious with local homemade jams.
In sparkling condition. Rooms with private baths, great bedding and pillows. friendly couple runs B and B. Beautiful home on manicured lot area to sit outside. One of our best breakfasts in Newfoundland.
