We stayed in 24 different properties during August 2023 on a driving trip from Minnesota to Alaska. Our primary criteria for evaluating a lodging property include cleanliness, sleep quality, price given the season, ease of luggage transfer and use, and wireless speed and security. Other plusses would include location and view, breakfasts, and availability of restaurants in the hotel or close by. We don’t watch TV so can’t tell you about the quality of service.
This was our second stay here, the first was in 2019. It was a high-quality establishment then and is now. It’s clean, well-equipped, with very comfortable beds. There is also a very good full-service restaurant on the premises. Breakfast is included in the room rate. Relative to the quality of the accommodation, the room rates were quite low on both occasions. I’d rate this among the best six places we stayed on the trip.

The Woodlands Inn offers amazing service and quality for a small northern town. Folks associated with our Eco-tourism operation always rave about their experience, as do I when I am lucky enough to land there for a stay. One couple from Denmark related how they were walking into town from the airport with their luggage, a couple mile's walk, having had no luck with a cab, only to have a van pull up and ask "Where are you headed?" When they said "the Woodlands!" the driver, who turned out to be David Moore, manager at the Inn, told them to hop in- and promptly delivered them to the hotel. Now that's service!

Excellent and helpful staff, after a reservation mix-up. Was offered a good rate for adjoining rooms with accessible features. Coffee 24/7 in the lobby. A hot breakfast Monday thru Friday, and continental breakfast on weekends included. The bar staff was friendly and efficient, offering corkage when their wine list was lacking. We were even allowed to bring our own wine glasses! Rooms are clean, with housekeeping as needed. The beds were very comfortable.

Older hotel but well-kept. Very quiet, two chairs in room plus table, good wi-fi, clean, comfortable beds although pillows could be a bit more squishable. Coffee maker, microwave, and small refrigerator. Watched Seattle beat Dallas for game 6 on a good tv. Adjoining restaurant and bar had excellent food and good service. We'd stay here again if we ever were in Fort Nelson (this is NOT Nelson BC!).

This hotel had the best walk in shower for mobility challenged people. Lots of grab bars, non slip floor and a bath mat, and a hand-held shower nozzle. It was perfect. First great shower in 3 weeks. The breakfast was available in the accessible restaurant and had appropriate options for seniors.

Arrived at 9:30, Lounge/bar closed early because " we havent been busy". Bought beer next door. Next night I ordered a burger with cheese, never asked how I want the burger cooked. Got it well done with no cheese. The order sat behind the bar several minutes before presented to me. Service staff gossiping excessively while I waited almost 10 minutes to get a beer refill. Hotel good, service at lounge/bar not so. Wont order food there again. Ben

Stayed on the way up with a buddy on a motorcycle trip. So clean, efficient and comfy that I stayed again on the way back.

Compared to most of the other places I’ve stayed on the trip, this was by far the single best value. Feels like a solid Marriott type property at a very reasonable price.

Really 3 1/2 stars. First large hotel as you come into town from South and heading north. Very convenient to the main road and there is a restaurant on size. Watch timing if you're going to arrive late at hotel since not a lot of choice in that case. Good size, comfortable room (had 2 queen beds) with plenty of space to move. No fridge or microwave in the room but there is also a liquor store and convenience store (separate spaces) on hotel property. Plenty of lights in parking area.

Just stopped overnight but was surprised by the clean and modern rooms, wonderful hospitality and a great dining room breakfast voucher($16) plus $10 off the evening meal. Wi-Fi worked well, beds were great and lots of hot water and water pressure. Rates were comparable to other hotels but greater value here!

Hi There, I don’t work for Woodlands Motel. I was riding the Alaska highway on my motorcycle when I spent two nights there. It’s a five star Motel that I would highly recommend. The lounge and restaurant was closed due to COVID virus. Very clean rooms with comfortable beds.
