My top 3 choices were sold out and I came here :(
And I knew from the parking lot that this would be a doozy.

This place HAS potential. The floors iun the room seem new. Looks like a recent coat or paint. But that's just to lure ya in. The rest is pretty nasty.

The rooms are very poorly cleaned. Mine was a ground level with hardwood floors. The amount of crumbs and dirt I saw when I first was gross. It made me assume that, because whoever cleaned this room clearly took no pride in doing the job properly that the rest of the room was probably nasty as well.

There is a very distinct, foul smell in the hallways and even more so when you enter the room. It just smells like all furnishings and the walls could use a really good wipe down.

So much dust around the windows and wall edges.

The "air conditioner" is hot garbage. Rumbling loud when on high and low doesn't do anything to cool you down.

It's not all horrors though:
Bed is comfy. Front desk girl was super friendly. Internet / wifi seems decent.

Our family of five stayed there one night in August, 2019 and found it to be comfortable. The morning hot variety breakfast was awesome for us, tired some travelers after driving all day. It was a welcome place to relax and sleep.

I stayed overnight in a reasonably nice room but they charged me more than the advertised price. I could not make out why and the explanation given to me in broken English was hard to follow but I was tired and ready for a hot shower and a sleep so I let it slide. Only a few dollars more ant not worth arguing over. The carpet was a bit dirty and there was a slight smell to it.
Three hours after checking out and I was well out of town on my way home I got a phone call from the same person accusing me of smoking in the room. I insisted this was impossible since I do not smoke. It kind of spoiled my morning. I would not stay there again for this reason. There are many other choices in Slave Lake for hotels. How rude !

This place is awful. The heater in the room did not work ( even after ‘fixing’ it). The gym is pathetic with awful equipment. The check-in process was beyond slow. Worst hotel experience that I have ever had!

Absolutely terrible hotel. Filthy, no towels no cleaning of your room, no garbage pick up. Also, God help you if you get sick with anything, they will discriminate against you because your sick and kick you out. Stay the hell away!

We stay at hotels all over the country while fighting forest fires and our plans are prone to changing often. Fortunately most places are very understanding, but not here.

We booked two rooms at this hotel and as luck would have it plans changed, we tried to cancel our rooms with-in the hour of booking them and NO WAY would they let us. Their policy is no cancellations with-in 24 hours of booking so we ended up paying for the hotel rooms in Slave Lake that night which were empty. Thanks a lot for supporting the people that fight forest fires.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding your booking experience with our property. I am sorry to hear that you had to cancel with us and by no means would we ever take lightly any service any of our guests provide in their lives. We do however try and offer the same policies and procedures across the board to all of our guests. Please feel free to let us know if you are returning to Slave Lake as we would like the chance to make your relationship with us right. Sincerely, Sherry Blake General Manager

Even though there's a few cosmetic updates, the hotel rooms are still run down and smell like cigarettes. The walls are still scuffed, stained, the bathroom seems decade's old. Really disappointing. There are definitely better options in slave lake.

I've been staying on and off at this hotel since November. The restaurant service is horrid, several times i've eaten there the waitress forgot that I even ordered. The servers seem to only cater to the drunks with tip money. Almost none of the plug ins outside work, so beware if you have work equipment. Its fairly run down and the free wifi is a joke at 200-500Kbps compared to the normal broadband speed of 10-15mbps. We've decided to not use travelodge anymore after this stay. I couldn't be happier to leave this hotel.

I booked this hotel for a weekend visit to Slave Lake. We arrived there late on Friday night and clearly the hotel was deserted with very few cars in the parking lot (first warning sign). Upon check-in, I asked for a non-smoking room, got the room key. As soon as we opened the hallway door to the wing, we were hit with overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. Without even going back to our room, i went back to the front desk and confirmed that I had a non-smoking room. She said, yes no problem after checking the computer. We then went to our room and noticed right away an ashtray on the table. By this time it was 11pm and 2 kids that were half asleep so we decided to try to make the best of it. Woke up next day feeling terrible as if having slept in a smoke filled room. When we complained at the front desk, they wouldn't give us our $$ back but offered to upgrade us to a suite... we checked it out and it seemed fine (non smoking). It had a pull out couch in addition to the King bed. When we returned to the room later that evening and tried to set up the bed, we discovered it was broken. Calling the front desk, they informed us that they knew it was broken and offered to bring up 2 cots which they did rather promptly.
*** if you are a non smoker, beware this hotel has an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. everything is old and run down, carpet is old and needs a good cleaning, wallpaper was peeling, bed was being held up by a block of wood, breakfast was horrible, very old TV had only 1 channel we could find; walls in bathroom need repair, STAY AWAY !!!
