I’ve stayed at Dutch Lake Motel twice and both times were pretty good. The staff is friendly, there are screen doors (great as there are so many bugs!) and good AC. There are some problems, though. The WiFi is very slow; I did a Speedtest on multiple devices and it averaged 1.5 mB/s up and down. This makes it near impossible to stream a video and very difficult to do anything on the web without using mobile data—I recommend downloading content before arriving. There is also no Ethernet port in the room to speed it up.

In my Grandmother’s room, there are sharp wooden corners on her bed which she banged herself on and started bleeding a lot. She had to add a pillow to protect herself in the future. I also stubbed my toe there—it’s not a great design and none of the other rooms have it. The front desk does not have a great First Aid Kit; luckily, I had one she could use. There is a small TV with an okay quality too.

The room I stayed in had no kitchen, but also no cutlery nor plates. There were a few cups. My grandmother’s room has a kitchen (with no oven); however, there were very few plates and cutlery—we had to use our own that we brought.

Our next door neighbours smoked a lot—we left our screen door open and arrived to our room reeking of smoke. They were well within the 6 metre legal limit in BC. Staff members saw them smoke and did not say anything—I wish they did say so as it is a non-smoking motel (I believe) and their smoke was very strong.

All rooms have a balcony, which open up to a beautiful lawn overlooking the lake. There are chairs, beds, and an unstable hammock on the lawn; there is also a short trail which leads to more chairs (both rocking and not), a picnic table, and one of several fire pits nearby. The Motel is also very close to several trails and the water where we rented canoes for $15/hour.

All in all, it’s a good place for a small town—it’s clean, has AC, and is situated on a beautiful lake. If you’re staying in Clearwater and don’t want to camp, I recommend it.

We needed a pitstop between Vancouver and Jasper and found this to be a convenient spot, which also allowed us to visit the beautiful falls in Wells Gray National Park in the morning.

Convenient location, easy accessible and with a nice view. Would recommend this place for visits to Wells Gray, which we found really nice and also convenient for a stopover on the way to the Rockies.

Helpful service in the reception, who helped us contact tour contacts, which we had to arrange pickups with on the following day.

March 2024

Had a family room on the upper floor for two nights, it was larger than most rooms in motels. Rooms are pet friendly and there is a forested area to walk your dog or grass around the other side of the motel. Our room had two beds in a large bedroom area when you first come in the room, with two chairs. The bathroom was also in this room. Through another door was the kitchen area with a table and another bed and patio door leading to a shared area that all guests on upper floor could get to. The linnens were crips and clean but the floor was not swept very well and there was some spider webs hanging from the light fixtures.

Overall it was decent and the place that I would choose again if travelling with my dog.

The sink had toothpaste in it, on mirror and on taps. Lots of hair on sheets/toilet. Garbage on floor near bed. Dirt on floor. Dusty everywhere. No plug in tub - even when asked. Not clean. Not helpful or friendly staff. Did have a sm patio, back yard, microwave and fridge. Good location.

The suite had a stale smell which was hard to get rid of. There were certain areas that were really dirty E.g bathroom fan, patio door areas and windows. The bed , although comfortable, had no mattress protector. The kitchen area was equipped with a random collection of mismatched items and the fact that the room had too much furniture made it hard to move around. The wi if was sketchy and often did not work at all in the bedroom area. When we arrived we were asked for a $100 damage deposit which was added to our British credit card, we wanted to leave early on the second morning but had to stay until 8 am when the office was open. We handed in our keys but then had to wait until the room was inspected before we could leave. every other hotel we have used just put a hold on the credit card.

We needed a place to stop for the night as it was getting dark and we were still an hour away from our campsite in Wells Gray Park. There was not much else available given the time of day. The room was not clean. The sheets and towels were stained and the floor was not well vacuumed. There was a baby oil lotion bottle tucked beside the bed. There was hair on the bedding and in the bathroom. The room reeked of cigarette smoke - and it was obviously a long standing problem as it permeated everything. Dead mosquitos were squished on the wall beside the tv and on the curtains. We slept in our sleeping bags on top of the beds. There was obviously no extra covid 19 cleaning In effect either. If you are desperate, you could stay here, otherwise keep on driving.

Though two beds the room is rather small. There is no closet inside, in sum too less place to store our luggage. Furniture seems at lower quality and very used.
An absolutely nogo: WLAN works only outside in the garden area!!!
How can that be in the year 2022? A WLAN-amplifier costs less than 20 Dollar!!
At the checkin I mentioned that only 1 towel in 2 sizes was in the room. Now, after 2 hours, nobody brought them meanwhile.
Positive: aircondition works good.

We got upgraded to a room on ground level as the steps were broken and dangerous to the room below
There is no mirror or power point in the bathroom. There is no toilet roll holder.
The internet speed was dreadful, the tv kept buffering and a lot of the time it kept cutting out completely. Very frustrating. They need to boost it.
Someone needs to walk around the property and take note of things that need to be cleaned or fixed.
The beds are comfortable and the room was ok.

My wife and I made a reservation in March of this year, and paid for the two night stay in advance as required. We were not able to enter Canada from the United States when the border closed because of the corona virus. I cancelled the reservation in June and asked for a refund. I contacted them again in September and sked for the same refund. I was told by a receptionist both times this would be taken care of and never heard a word back or recieved a penney. This is against their own refund policy and quite dishonest.

One night mid July 2020 - absolutely disgusting.. The room was filthy, rug dirty, dirt in the corners, filthy shower curtain, tub dirty, dirt on all shelves, toilet didn't leaked and barely flushed,, NO HOT WATER, the room had been sprayed to excess with Febreeze which was nauseating. We didn't dare sleep in the beds for fear of bugs. GROSS! Do NOT recommend this dump. Should be shut down.
