We arrived late into Clearwater after paddling Murtle Lake for a few days (we were planning on camping but felt like we just needed a shower and a bed for the night). The front desk person was excellent and even upgraded our room from two queens to a king. The room felt very clean, but a bit dated. The continental breakfast was fine, nothing extraordinary but very fair. We asked for a later check out time and we were given an extra hour, no charge!

The pool was a bit disappointing. The jacuzzi tub was quite cold and the sauna was out of order. The pool was a bit dirty. The bathroom in the pool area was quite unclean.

Overall, a very nice stay with very friendly people. I just hope they can focus on the amenities at some point!

Rooms were clean and well taken care of, defiantly recommend. Staff was friendly and restaurant was really good. great stop along the way to Alberta or Sight seeing at Wells Grey. New hotel going right beside it as well.

We stayed at Clearwater Lodge for 2 days on our journey from Jasper to Whistler and was extremely happy with the recommendation to stay there!

As mentioned in other reports, the reception area was in need of a bit of attention but the owners (who manned reception) were really friendly and knowledgable about the area. They advised on where to get food (the bakery across the road has fantastic cookies) and supplied us with a map to locate the supermarket and take-away (the Chinese was very nice). The gardens to the rear were well maintained and the pool area, jacuzzi and sauna were really nice to relax in after a long day exploring/travelling.

The room was the largest one we stayed in on our entire Canada trip with 2 big, comfortable beds, a lounge area, kitchenette, dining facilities, spotless bathroom and balcony. We made the most of this extra space by both getting take-out and preparing our own meal in the comfort of this room.

The information office for Wells Gray was also across the road (extremely worth a visit as they gave a detailed map of where to visit in the Park) and the Petrol Station was next door if extra supplies were needed (although the petrol was considerably cheaper at the stations near to the supermarket).

We were told that Clearwater Lodge was ideal for exploring the Wells Gray Provincial Park and I must say that it met our every expectation. We would well recommend it to anyone wishing to visit this area as it was close enough to both the park and food/petrol facilities in quite a remote part of British Columbia. We hope other travellers enjoy a stay as nice as we experienced!

Horrible experience. First, we got checked into a room that clearly had not been cleaned or actually still had someone staying in it. Then our key wouldn't work to open the door to the pool,so the desk person opened it for us. We were shocked to see cigarette butts and bandaides on the pool deck, and the doors to the outside were not even closed or locked. Needless to say, we did not use these facilities. The balconys are very close, so leaning forward, you can see the ashtrays on the tables next to your room, hence the terrible smell in the whole room. The entire motel very much needs a good cleaning (the freezer was just one solid block of frost) and the bathroom desperatley needs to be updated. There are a lot of motels, that we were not aware of, just up the hill from this junction. Any one of them would have been better than this place. This was day 4 of our holidays, so not only the worst of places but also the most expensive (including Jasper and Banff !!!) I would never stay there again nor recommend it.

This was our second time staying at the Clearwater Lodge, first time the heating was out for the entire hotel, but things can happen so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second time Yesterday (Oct 01 2020) was our second stay, room was clean, but overpriced, Hotel restaurant is way overpriced and has very limited selection, even the staff recommend there are other eating establishments close by. There was construction just outside our window at 6:45 am, guys putting up a ladder etc.. The advertised continental breakfast is a total joke, a couple of oranges in the fridge and some granola bars, no coffee, juice, or anything else, clearly management doesn't care and neither should you . Avoid this place.

We stayed here in July 2004, for 1 night having driven from Jasper. The 2 storey hotel design meant no noisy lifts, a sizeable foyer and wide corridors with slopes up to the 2nd floor. Our room was extremely spacious, airy, spotlessly clean and modern. We had a kitchenette and a balcony on the 2nd floor all for a room rate of £50.00. It is well located to visit Wells Gray Provincial Park which is nearby. The small restaurant adjacent to the foyer was pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this Hotel for just one night, we enjoyed our stay so much we wished our itinary would have allowed us to stay longer. We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. We have stayed in countless Hotels throughout the world and the room we had here surpassed even all 5 star Hotels we've stayed in. Scrupulously clean with everything you would ever need. Home from home. TV, sofa, seating at PC desk with free internet., Dining table & chairs, instant heating ,kitchen, ensuite and a balcony as well. Ordered food and they called our room when it was ready. The food was also excellent. Wherever you were thinking of staying in this area... cancel it and stay here. You WONT be disappointed.

We stayed at Clearwater Lodge for 2 nights on our way from Vancouver to Jasper. Rooms were a good size and the small kitchenette useful. We were on the ground floor (although had requested a first floor at time of booking) which had door out to a small patio area. Restaurant seemed a bit small for the size of the lodge - but they called our room when they had a table free. Excellent location for Wells Gray park. I used the pool and jacuzzi - only problem being there are no changing rooms so you need to return to your room to dress.
Would happily stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting family. When we checked in, we were informed of how busy the hotel was with hockey, curling, etc. The front desk agent was friendly and welcoming. We went to our room to drop off our luggage; it was clean enough although dated. Some hair in the bathroom on the floor and cigarette burns in the bedspreads. We returned later that night to go to bed only to find what looked like hamburger meat from a pizza between the sheets. I called the front desk immediately and he helped us move to a new room (very helpful since I have a small child). The next day, we decided to go to the pool to help the kids burn off some energy. It was packed with hockey kids in the pool and parents surrounding. Most if not all the adults had cans of beer with cases sitting beside them (are they not supposed to be responsible for their children??) When we asked the front desk both for more towels and to inform them of the alcohol in the pool area (where signs are posted strictly prohibiting it) we were told that he could bring towels but there was nothing he could do about the alcohol. Really? Nothing? My toddler was kicked in the head a few times by these unruly kids jumping over us into the pool and their parents just sat there and laughed, cheering them on for such a great jump. When I said something to one of the moms, she simply shrugged and said "it's all in good fun". Really? Let's turn the tables on that one and see what happens.

All in all, lazy lazy lazy! Who leaves FOOD on the bed and simply makes the bed over it?? Who says that there is nothing they can do about public drinking? While I know the hotel staff cannot make people be better parents (which with my experience with hockey parents, they are the rudest, most self-entitled people you'll ever meet), they can remove those not following the rules set by the hotel.

Long story short, if you're told when you check in that there is a hockey team staying and you aren't there for sports, go somewhere else!!

The room we had was huge with a king size bed. At check in we were asked if we minded only one bed which as there were two of us was not a problem at all. There was a lounge area and a kitchen area with a balcony to the rear from which was a great view of the mountains in Wells Gray Provincial Park.
The hotel staff advised us that becuase it was easter weekend we needed to make sure we got our tea etc. quite early and then made some recommendations of where we could go. We went to a fantastic great value diner across the road.
There's not a great deal to do in Clearwater itself but Wells Gray is well worth a visit - some fantastic sights to be seen and some terrific hiking trails. This is a great hotel to base your adventures from.
