Long travel day, stopped in Christina Lake at the New Horizon. Motel was great, nice comfortable and clean room with king bed on new quiet side of the location. Proprietor provided good suggestions for a late bite. Close to the lake and amenities. Recommended!!!!

We spent one night at New Horizon (wished we'd stayed longer!)whilst on a very long drive to Vancouver. Not having booked we weren't sure if there was a vacancy but the owners Dave and Linda (who live on-site) put our minds at rest and and gave us a choice of room! We chose a 2 queen bed suite - boy what a super room, immaculately clean and SO spacious. The bathroom was spotless and also very large with loads of soft, fluffy towels and toiletries. The motel is situated on a main highway but our room was in the new block at the rear and we honestly couldn't hear even a pin drop - we had a great night's sleep!

A complimentary buffet breakfast is provided and we were greeted by at least 3 baskets of cookies/muffins which were still warm - I thought they had been warmed in the microwave but it turns out that Linda had baked them that very morning!!. There was also a fab fresh fruit platter, fruit juice, coffee, herbal teas, toast, cereals etc etc. What a very pleasant surprise. We paid 125 Canadian Dollars plus taxes which was worth every penny and would highly recommend this motel. The hosts are very knowledgable, charming people and made us feel so welcome even though we only spent one night. We would certainly return if we visit this part of the world again. Thanks Dave and Linda!!

It is a convenient location, but we were unhappy with the dirty floors, lack of dusting, 4 lamps didn’t work, grunge in the corners, no hot water in the shower one night, no breakfast even though it was advertised online, a very large spider showed up by the bed, our parking spot was practically in a tree and mess of leaves, the lotion dispenser was empty and dirty, towels had stains on them. Also, the grounds are not kept tidy. We asked for a partial refund and just got excuses and arguing. We probably will not stay there again.

We are very sorry about your unhappy stay with us. Sorry we had to quit breakfast after Covid-19, and we do not advertise that anymore. It's always a good idea to ask about breakfast when you make a booking. Cleanness is our stronger side, and people come back because of our cleanness. Again we apologize for any inconvenience. We do have a paved parking lot instead of under trees, but people like to park there because it's closer to the room. If the room is dirty or anything that you don't like, please tell us know before you check-in, or even after you checked in. You've stayed with us for 5 nights, but you didn't say anything, and you wanted a refund 2 days after you've checked out. There was some chance if you came to the office and deal with this matter in any of those 5 days you've stayed with us. I don't think anyone will give you a any refund if you ask for it 2 days after you've checked out already.

This motel is not at all as it is represented on the website or in earlier reviews. It was so bad, we could not stay. When we first arrived, we were shocked to see the state of the motel and the front office. Junk everywhere, everything was a mess. We were given a room in the “new” building at the back of the property. The room smelled, had duct tape holding the floor together, cobwebs and mold were also evident. The bedding didn’t look clean. The property looked so dilapidated we were afraid to park our car there overnight. So… we left.

DO NOT STAY HERE!

I clearly remember you, you got so mad because of Shaw cable that did not work when you stayed with us. My apologize for the cable that did not work, it was an issue for whole Christina Lake area for couple of days. I do under stand how frustrated it can be if you have like a big game to watch. However you fought with an operator on the phone with Shaw, and came to our office about 5 times, to swear and yelled at me even though I apologized. I told that I can refund one night, but you just swear again, and took off. Again if it is like Shaw cable that effected the whole Christina Lake area, there is not much thing that I can do. Sorry for any inconvenience.

DONT BELIEVE THE PICTURES..We booked this online. When we arrived we ahould have known better than to oversee all the toys and garbage strewn out front. When we went in to register the "lobby" was worse than the outside. We got our room key and off we went to the back end of the building. There was no one else there except one other couple right next door. We got out of our vehicle and were swarmed by mosquitos.

We didnt even check the room. We were out of there. The guy at the front desk i thought was very understanding said to cancel my booking through the website and he wont put through the charge on my Credit Card.. Ya he put it through...place is a dump!!!

I do not understand why you were so mad and I did my best to calm you down, but I guess it didn't work out. We did some renovation this year to our office, and a new flooring for our rooms. I'm so sorry about our kid's toy, but we do not have any garbage out side. And if you are coming again to the Christina Lake prepare a spray for mosquitoes and after bites. And next time when you come, please check the room because we did some renovations. And I did not charge you anything, but canceled your pre-authorization. I do not know how clean the motel has to be not called a "Dump", but the cleanness is our most stronger side, and our customers come back because of that. I apologize again for any inconvenience, and thank you for our customers who's coming back for years. We will keep our rooms clean and sanitized specially with the virus still out there, we will try our best. Thanks again.

We stayed one night in a king bed unit in the newer building.
Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Wireless internet had good signal. Nice continental breakfast with warm muffins, fresh fruit and yogurt.
We have stayed in other motels in Christina Lake in the past anf the New Horizon is the best place to stay.

Excelent location,Excelent rooms,Excelent hosts,Excelent breakfast,especially the Muffins.
I travel to Canada every year for the past ten years from Glenrothes Fife Scotland, and make a point of staying at the New Horizon Motel for a few days.
You will not get any better hosts than Dave and Linda.
You will not get any better guests than the people we meet there every year, most always return to the place where they are welcolmed and made to feel at home.
Tip>>>Go out of your way spend a night at New Horizon Motel.

Cheers Dave and Linda ,hope to see you Summer 2010

This hotel is well located and priced right for the area. It is an independent hotel and the owner does his utmost to make feel welcome! The rooms are large and clean. I had a Kitchen and it was stocked well.

each year for the last 7, our family travels to beautiful Christina lake to camp Last year we sold our trailer and decided we were going to stay in a motel instead, so before we left last summer to come home we stopped at the New Horizon Motel to see what it was like. The owner graciously took us to look at the beautiful new rooms at the back of the property and showed us how it was possible to open up the rooms if you needed more space. We were very impressed, and took the information to have for this year. In March we decided to start booking spots for our vacation and booked the room we saw on trip advisor as the picture showed exactly what we had been shown the year before. Last week when we arrived we were checked in and the "new" owner said our room was down at the end of the front units, that we couldn't park in front of the room because there was a car there that the person had left there 2 years ago and never picked up....this should have been the first clue. When we opened the door, we found our room hadn't even been cleaned from the previous people so we had to wait, but what we found when we were allowed in was probably the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. We were supposed to have 2 queen beds for our kids, and a separate room for us, what we had was a 20 year old futon, and even older hidabed, and then a very small room with a full size bed in it. The kitchen cupboard doors were falling off, the drawers didn't open. This room was disgusting. When I told the "new" owner that what I had booked vs what I had been checked into was not the same, he told me that while he understood my frustration, there was nothing he could do as the units at the back were all full. During our time there we saw 2 cars parked at the back units, and very seldom saw anyone walk back there. This was a clear case of Bait and Switch, and while we would have loved to make this our new destination in Christina Lake, we will never be back to the New Horizon Motel

It has been aready past 1 year, but I clearly remeber you, because you booked through previous owner and only thing I did was check you in. You told me that previous owner showed your room for newer building and booked you with older building. I do not understand how it is my fault, because only thing that I did was check you in. Maybe you can ask this matter to who you booked with and who showed your room which was previous owner not me. Thank you,
