We stayed in the Big Boar chalet, and it was fantastic. Check-in and checkout was super easy, and the chalet was everything. It said it was in the description. Truly a beautiful West Coast cabin. The location makes it very easy to get to the two main bear viewing areas in the valley. And it’s close to the grocery store just down the street.
The hot spring trip was okay in general, but the description on the website was misleading. We did not even cruise near any river or "creek at Green Bay" to even try to watch bears or other wildlife on land. Also we did not visit any seal rock. Seeing wildlife is always a matter of luck, but we did not get the feeling to have it even tried. We paid over 500$ for 2 persons for some hot springs, visiting the big cedar tree and 2 unspectacular waterfalls to have the feeling that we could have used the day and the money better differently in the end. If you get the expectations right and have some luck with whales e.g., the tour can be quite nice.
Spacious Big Timber log cabin, 2 bedroom, wood stove, modern kitchen and bathroom, with large deck providing a great view of the nearby mountains. The cabin was clean, and comfortable, Found it to be an excellent location to explore this beautiful valley, Close to many hiking trails, Grocery Store, a couple of lovely coffee shops, all staff where friendly, helpful with great tips on what to see and how to get there. Bella Coola Grizzly Tours Inc is a Ellis Family run business and the family treats you like a valued guest.
Amazing 8 hour boat tour with guide Dan. History, natural hot springs, big cedar tree, fresh seafood lunch and incredible views with many waterfalls. Every day is different depending on the wildlife and time of year you visit. Highly recommend for anyone visiting bella coola.
The "Bella Coola Grizzly Tours" experience is one I strongly recommend to everyone . Old or young, you have a big family or maybe your trying to impress your significant other ~ this location is optimal and will serve as a versatile base camp that satisfies all parties . Beautiful , majestic and luxurious log cabins each with theyre own magnificent charm, spacious clean and filled with all the essential home hardware to stay civilized (Laundry and dryer , dishwasher ,Woodstove , etc) and we'll prepared for the drastic and ever changing environments . With large covered deck spaces with carved art at the foot of your door the cabin is truly a pleasurable and practical , unpacking / loading up / outdoor dining equipped with Weber grills and comfortable patio furniture, is a treat as well as convenient. All of this set infront of an overwhelmingly picturesque range sheer faces of granite mountain side that defy imagination , basically at the foot of the rainforest all around you will have no trouble being reminded your in the adventure . I also strongly recommend the boat tour it is phenomenal and comparitave to other boat tours in the valley this is most favorable . With historical landmark destinations, wildlife shore viewing / natural hot springs and an onboard lunch I can safely say you will be thoroughly satisfied with learning and experiencing new things . The tour guide does a brilliant job of enthralling and intriguing, giving proper context to the observations and its historical importance . ( Something I was very satisfied with ) the hotsprings are a sight to behold as passengers get to really enjoy with an hour plus long stay with privacy, returning safely to a plentiful arraignment of deli sandwiches, fruit, salads , we even had a special treat of wild caught salmon though I don't know if that's a garuntee . Topping it off with a ride to "the big cedar tree" to finale , a sight that will leave you flabbergasted . All in all a wonderful experience for a day trip thing . There isn't much more to say then it was well worth the experience and one I look forward to having again .…
The Ellis family made us feel right at home. Friendly & welcoming seems to be the name of the game at Bella Coola Grizzly Tours - it was noticeable. We were lodged in the new Sliver Grizzly Suite, which is exceptionally well built and designed. Great job done. This is our first trip to Bella Coola, and we don't think we could have had better accommodations in a beautiful setting carved out of the wilderness. This place is remarkable. The special highlight was Leonard Ellis' close to 5-hour trip where we saw magnificent west coast red cedars and a drive on "The Hill" in search of bears, who were descending from the mountain to the lush valley below, munching on new grass ending their winter hibernation. Eleven bears, including 6 grizzlies, many with cubs, were sighted at close range! As a long-time experienced outfitter and guide in Bella Coola Valley, Leonard is an encyclopedia of local knowledge and very entertaining with his many stories, including some close encounters with bears in the wild. His love and approach to nature, including the natural balance of prey and predators, are enlightening. Congratulations to Daniel, Tiffany, Shannon and Leonard, and WWOOFer Colleen from Belgium, who was working with the Ellis'. You all made us feel so welcome - we really hope to be able to come back. We highly recommend Bella Coola Grizzly Tours as a laid-back base from which to explore Bella Coola Valley.…
Dan was a great captain. He was knowledgeable about the town history and the natural attractions. We saw a pod of dolphins. They jumped around our boat. Our time on the water was amazing. Thanks for a great day.
My family and I (my wife, 3 kids and a dog) stayed here for 4 nights in early November. The Cabin was really nice, clean and had everything we needed for out stay in it, also the cabin was very easy to keep warm with the wood stove (also has electric heat if you are sensitive to smoke/dry air) The yard was big and the kids had fun running around playing. I do plan to come back to Bella Coola and I'll stay at Bella Coola Grizzly Tours again but next time not so late in the year. The people we talked to in the town were all very nice and helpful I recommend taking the trip to Bella Coola and if you need a pace to stay, Grizzly Tours has your accommodations and more.
Absolutely loved this! So glad we met someone who recommended it. The fresh crab after the hot pool dip was amazing - standing on the back of the boat eating fresh crab and throwing the shells into the wake! The hot pool was a wonderful experience, worth the scramble over the rocks. And the walk to the Big Cedar tree was a nice break in the afternoon. Daniel's history information was so interesting, I feel we learned a lot about the surrounding area during the tour. I would highly recommend this tour.
Had a fabulous day out in the inlets with captain Dan. Met a great bunch of like minded people on board. Hump backs, eagles, water falls, hot springs and a massive cedar tree. Crab 🦀 lunch pretty darn good.
