We had dinner at Jimmy's on our first foggy night in the area. They were highly recommended by the B&B in Grate's Cove at which we were staying. So off we went to Bay de Verde and asked our dining room hostess what she would suggest. Pan fried cod was the answer, and it was glorious. During our conversations, we learned that Bay de Verde was a crab fishing village ... yet we observed that crab wasn't on the menu. "Ah, if you would really like some, I can arrange that!", our hostess replied. So ... the next day found us back for lunch and a beautiful platter of delicious crab and salad. Jimmy's Place staff went above and beyond. A truly excellent experience!

Jimmie's Plce is up the hill, luckily they tell you to keep going. It is well worth it. They have only a couple of rooms but they also have a good restaurant. There are only about 6-7 stairs to go down from the parking lot to the B&B and restaurant. We were very pleased with our room. Everything was clean and looked freshly painted too. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom was nicely stocked and quite large. The restaurant had wonderful cod & chips. They were both cooked perfectly. Plus they had malt vinegar & tarter sauce too. They were out of Pea soup the first day. But agreed to make a batch for the next day. Because my husband has to maintain a low sodium diet they even made sure they didn't use the salted pork. It was delicious, too. Full bar with the restaurant too. Breakfasts were large and plentiful and they had the best hash browns. The views from here are spectacular. You can see ocean on two sides and we had an amazing sunset too. Pauline, the owner told us to make ourselves at home. We did not need to stay in our room. They had a very nice back deck that also afforded the view I mentioned earlier. Sunday night we ended up with a kitchen party right there. It was so much fun. Great people, good music, and fun times. Loved this B & B and restaurant!

My wife and I stayed at Jimmy’s Place during a tour around the Baccalieu trail. Had a wonderful time. Pauline, Jen and family were so friendly and welcomed us like we weee family. We ended up staying a 2nd night and did some cod jigging. Lovely dinner and breakfast served with a smile. The place was clean and comfortable. We travel a lot and were so impressed with the hospitality. Great to have conversations with them, and makes you feel touched by local Newfoundlanders. Well worth a stay.

Bay de Verde is a special place and Jimmy's is even more special! We came for a weekend out of season and were the only guests. Pauline made us the best fish and chips of our 3 month trip to Newfoundland and one of the best breakfasts of my life! The room was cozy and warm and so were the hosts. Can't recommend enough!

You will be pleasantly surprised. We're not big on B and B but this one was absolutely perfect for us. Room was exceptionally clean and practical. Bed was very comfortable. The view from the patio; priceless. Can't say enough about the service and hospitality. The meals we had were absolutely delicious. We were made to feel at home. Highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.

We felt so welcomed and at home here. We only spent one night but Pauline and her family made us feel like family too. A genuine Newfoundland treasure, one of the highlights of our trip. We would stay here again for sure.

It is 'staycation' time in Newfoundland because of Covid-19 so we decided to take a two day road trip around the Baccalieu Trail and booked Jimmy's Place B&B for the one night. There were four of us - my wife & I, our son & his wife. Jimmy's Place was originally a 3 bedroom B&B and they recently added an extension with two additional bedrooms complete with baths. We booked these two room for our one night stay. We were welcomed by the very friendly host and within minutes we were in our room. The rooms were very nice and comfortable with only one issue - no hooks to hang a coat, so the back of the two chairs were it. There was a common area with two tables and since it was raining (so no hiking on the trails as we planned), we sat at one of the tables and played a couple games of cards while waiting for dinner. Jimmy's place is also a small restaurant that currently has take-out only - again because of the Covid-19 issues. However we were advised that B&B guests could eat in if we wanted. Since dining out options in the Bay de Verde area are limited we opted to eat in. The fours of us selected the fresh cod, two of us had the pan fried and two had the deep fried. As we say here -"some shocking good!!". We all had the homemade fries. As a little side dish for the table, our host gave us a bowl of fresh crab claws. During our card game our host gave us a large bowl of homemade potato chips - perfect to go with our drinks while playing cards. In the morning a fresh pot of coffee was ready and we all had the full breakfast. Scrambled eggs topped with cheese, bacon, sausage, toast and melon with orange juice and bottomless coffee. Our host, Pauline, is a very friendly person who made you feel right at home and ensured that you were comfortable. We highly recommend Jimmy's Place as a B&B and also as a great place to eat when you visit Bay de Verde.

Have been telling my hubby I need to get away so this past weekend he took me to Jimmy’s Place in Baie de Verde. What a wonderful B and B. Pauline and Jen are wonderful hosts. Rooms were clean and comfortable, food was to die for. Last night we had fresh cod caught that afternoon along with cod tongues and lobster. My hubby says we have to go back next year. That says it all. Carole and Art Burden

July 24, 2018 - We didn’t stay here but wish we had. Instead we had a terrible experience at a B&B in Carbonear NL and only discovered this after we had already committed to a hotel in St. John’s NL. They did however serve lunch so that’s why we got to see it. The lunch was great – the best fish and chips we had in our 16 days on “The Rock”. The fish was caught the day before and was pan fried not deep fried. Absolutely delicious. It was about an inch and a quarter thick and fried to perfection. Pauline the owner showed us through the B&B and we would have been very comfortable in her home and in this cute town of about 450 people. Pauline welcomed us with typical Newfoundland hospitality. When we return we would definitely stay at her B&B and tour the peninsula using her home as a base.

Myself and two friends drove into Bay de Verde and thought it was one of the most breathe taking areas we had seen on our NFLD travels. We drove to the waterfront and asked a few of the locals is there any where to stay or have a meal in the area. They said ya Jimmy's place is a B&B on the hill and has the best home cooked meals going, they called and told Pauline the owner they were sending us up. When we arrived we were greeted by Pauline with a smiling face and a hug. After looking at the rooms which were lovely and homey Steven her son grabbed all our bags and took them to our rooms. We also met Jen the daughter who cooked us up the best meal we had all week { her and Pauline} We also met Bob and Gary the husband and his brother. It was like we were family! After dinner we had a great chat in the family room and even had some fresh crab which Steven caught! It was the best experience ever and we had an awesome visit, felt like home. Would recommend this B&B highly I will for sure be going back to Jimmy's next trip to NFLD.
