Lovely house, booking it again for a longer stay next summer. Couple minor things, will bring our own toilet paper and a colander lol. My first time visiting the area. Beaches are great, scenery amazing.

I stayed at a cottage here several years ago and it is still one of my favorite NL vacation memories. The cottage was nice, and there was a secluded sandy beach within walking distance down the road! But I heard this place has since closed. I cannot find updated information online so think this may be true, sadly.

A large group of friends stayed at Barbour's Cabins and we had a fabulous time with the beautiful beach; lovely area; friendly owners; definitely a must-see destination! The Cape Freels area is very interesting too.

I stayed two nights in Cabin #6, which is at the back of the property. The cabin is a one bedroom with a full kitchen, bathroom and living space. The cabin comes with a nice size deck, deck chairs and a BBQ Lots of room for a couple or small family. The fire pit is behind this cabin in a gravel pit style area but considering the hot summer you would not want people starting fires next to the beautiful trees. The beach just a five minute walk away and is the nicest I have seen in the Province. I would recommend this place to any young family. There is a grocery store close, which makes getting food easy. This is a beautiful area and very clean. The only trouble I encountered was no hair dryer. Only minor but it would be a benefit to those staying here.

We stayed at the Inn for one night in August 2012. Having grown up visiting family in the area, I am quite familiar with Lumsden, which is one of Newfoundland's best-kept secrets: beautiful scenery, gorgeous beaches and very friendly people. For years, there was nowhere to stay unless you camped at Windbill Bight (not a bad idea, that) or were fortunate enough to have relatives or friends in the area. We came home during a busy time and decided to try out the accommodations at Barbour's and were not disappointed. The room we stayed in was bigger than many hotel rooms we have stayed in with a queen-sized bed, spacious seating area with television and full 4-piece bathroom and was very clean and comfortable. It was a hot day when we arrived and, air conditioning not normally being required in this part of the world, the windows were shut and curtains drawn to keep the room cool. The inn provides a large living area for guests to use, as well as a dining area and kitchen which is available for anyone to get themselves a cup of tea, a slice of homemade banana bread or a date square (provided). We were told that breakfast would be served between 8 and 9 a.m. However, a late night the night before meant that we were not up and running until closer to 10 a.m. Patsy, the owner, without being asked immediately offered breakfast to us anyway, which turned out to be a hearty meal of scrambled eggs, toast made of homemade bread with homemade jam, juice, coffee and our choice of sausage or fried bologna (also known as Newfie steak!) All this for less than $100! I would highly recommend this place.

We spent an night here in early June, 2012. Patsy is a gracious host, giving us the run of the property including help yourself in the kitchen. The rooms were clean and attractive. The property has rooms in the main building as well as cabins on the property. Conveniently located. Good value.

We had one of the cabins which had 2 rooms and a partial kitchen (no stove). The owner is very friendly and nice, and ensured she passed along messages to us which she had received from friends staying elsewhere. The cabins were very cute and clean but quite tiny; there is little room to move around, particularly in the bedrooms. The cabins are fairly close to stores and to Windmill Bite Park. We were disappointed that the firepits were so far away from the cabins. Promised wi-fi internet, but this did not work unless you were at the main office.

We stayed at this inn because it advertised that it had a restaurant. When we checked in we discovered that it had closed, and there is no other restaurant in Lumsden. Beyond this the rooms are clean, spaceous, and quiet, and the owner hospitable. You also have access to the kitchen in the evening for coffee etc. With a restaurant we would return again.
