Two strikes, and they are out. I stayed in two different rooms over the past couple of months, and felt that the rooms were filthy. The room stunk of musty, cigarette smoke…..I’m not sure what; just smelled filthy. The room carpets have obviously never been cleaned. A coffee stain on the linoleum told me that the non-carpeted portion of the room had never been cleaned either. I ended up cleaning up a dried coffee stain, in a room that I had just checked into. When pointed out to the On-duty manager who took me to my room, he said, oh well, and then walked away. The on-duty person also seemed incredibly confused; when I talk to him on the phone, I had to give him my one night date no fewer than eight times. I was quoted $95 a night over the phone; I wrote it down, so I was not confused. Upon arrival, he said the price was $130 per night. Bar fridge in the room made so much noise, that I had to unplug it to get to sleep. Overall, a very negative experience. I will never stay there again, even if I have to pay more.

Stayed for 3 nights. Motorcycle trip, used this as home base. Clean room, comfortable clean bed. Mini fridge and tv. Coffeemaker and coffee in room. Lake across street, walking distance to downtown Haliburton. Would recommend this value priced motel.

Older motel, but clean and well maintained.

PROs: Great location, right across from lake, restaurant adjacent, clean exterior.

CONs: The rooms are very dated. Our room smelled mouldy and smoky. The linens were old see-though towels, and the bed sheets felt like they had an oily film on them, they were so old. Plastic covered old stained mattresses and pillows. No shampoo etc. We luckily had sleeping bags and pillows with us, which we used. Appears that the owners care enough to keep it clean but don't want to spend the money on proper beds and linens, so bring your own....

We stayed one night on July 24, 2023. It was raining quite a lot, so I didn’t see the outside until the next day (quite shabby).
We entered our room and immediately noticed the shabby state the room was in. The television sat on a low table in the corner of the room, with the wire coming out of the wall (about half way down the wall (weird)); no fan in the bathroom; no hooks anywhere, no shelf or closet; the USB didn’t work. In all, there was no pride of ownership. It was way too expensive for what we got.

I stayed here last minute. The first room stunk of cigarette smoke. The second was no better. The third was filthy. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. There was urine on the seat and dirt in the bowl. The sink was filthy. I stripped the beds and actually brought in a blanket from my car to use. I know you get what you pay for but this was bad. Moving the bed away from the wall there was dirty and dust back there that had been there a while. I had no choice but to stay but I sure won’t be back!

Nothing fancy, but very clean. Beds are comfortable. Good sized table for eating or doing a bit of work. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker...everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay while exhibiting at the Haliburton Home Show. Would definitely stay here again.

I really don't understand how some reviews are at ALL positive! Did these people walk in blind folded?? Oh my gosh...The bedspread had holes in it and had yellow stains on the underside, bedding was old, smelt and the blankets course and gross. Mattresses had stains on them and oh yes..the useless ancient pillows didn't even have pillow protectors on them. Is that even allowed? One of our friends even went out and purchased ALL NEW bedding!! In fact, one store staff said that there was an influx of pillow sales that weekend...Gee I wonder why?? I assure you next year our large group will be looking elsewhere. Don't waste your money and your time!

When visiting the lakes or cottage country in Ontario, Haliburton is a must-stay kind of town! It is a short distance to the Haliburton Forest Wolf Reserve which is incredible for Wolf-lovers to go and see. Very affordable there and also at the very nice Silver Maple Motel in Halburton itself. The units are plentiful, clean, quiet, well-serviced and the price is right! Probably the most affordable motel in all of Haliburton whcih can be pricey for accommodations otherwise. The folks who run the motel are very amenable. They also have 4 nice little cabins up the hill behind the motel, which are ideal for a fun, rustic stay for couples. Again, very afforable with some of them being newly renovated. The motel and cabins boast a gorgeous view of the lake and they even have their own little pier where you can sit and read a book or go swimming, launch a canoe etc. All in all, a fabulous town and the motel comes very highly recommended by me and my family.

I LOVE THE MAPLE.....

Some of the reviews I have read about this quaint Motel are ridiculous. It's located beside a gas station...REALLY.... well right when's the last time a gas station blew up beside you?
How about the comment " MY HUSBAND COULDN'T WRAP THE TOWEL AROUND HIM" HEY PORKY LAY OFF THE DONUTS.

Here is the harsh reality of Ray and the SIlver Maple Motel, its old, its by the road, heaven forbid its next to the Shell, OH, AND THE TOWELS...WHATEVER.

This awesome little gem has everything you need. Incredible customer service (Kelly rocks), comfy beds, wicked view of Head Lake, its clean (That would be Colleen's doing), a firepit, a dock on the lake with a plane that you can rent and its quiet at night. Woops, I almost forgot about the best kept secret in the Haliburton Highlands, Head Lake Eatery.

No its not the Royal York, but its less than a hundred bucks. I have stayed in most of the other joints around and I prefer the Silver Maple Motel.

That's it, plan and simple.

You want to spend $200 plus dollars knock yourself out, the Pinestone is just down the road and more than happy to take it. If both places were the same price, I would still make my way to Ray's place.

This is my honest review of the Silver Maple Motel I have absolutely no affiliation with this motel, I just tell it like it is.
