Detailed Reviews
Very nice campground but, like all KOAs, highly overpriced at $85. per night. When you pay a premium price to camp, you should expect premium service. WiFi is NOT provided by the campground. One hour of free access but you must pay another agency a premium price to get access. Also, don't arrive prior to the 3 PM check in time or you will be charged $5. for each hour before 3 PM even though the booked lot is vacant. There are no garbage cans throughout the Park and you are expected to go a considerable distance to deposit garbage. Campfires are allowed but you MUST buy campfire wood from the Park. Having said all that, there are several pools and lots of facilities for kids to play on. Too highly priced for seniors and I won't be going back.

Response from Sussex KOA Drive-In, Owner at Sussex KOA
Responded Sep 15, 2024
Thank-you for camping with us! As per KOA policy that is followed by the 500 + locations, we are only obligated to provide 1 hour of internet. Wi-Fi onsite is provided by a third party service provider that specializes in networking and provides our campers with a 7/24 support line for all inquiries and set-up as we want to focus and specialize on our level of expertise, Camping! Furthermore, check-in policies for early arrival is again another policy followed by all KOA's. There are plenty of garbage cans located around the park, your statement is incorrect! Dumpsters are conveniently located at the exit of the campground to ensure that odors and smells do not interfere with your camping experience. Our price reflects all the amenities that area available to all guests, including 3 pools, splashpad, Drive-In Theatre, 3KM of walking trails, activities for seniors including bingo, tractor rides, etc. There are campgrounds that are less expensive that offer no activities that might be better suited for your future travels and budget. Safe travels!

We are entering our 3rd season as seasonal campers at KOA Sussex and absolutely LOVE the campground. The staff - from the office to the lovely ladies that clean, to the gentlemen in maintenance - all are kind & hardworking. The owners are fantastic and open to new ideas and have worked so hard to modernize & beautify the place. We've made friends that have become family and cannot wait to enjoy many more seasons here! Thank you to Don, Tina & the team for making our summer home a special place to be.

This campground is fantastic! The camping spots are big, and everything like bathrooms and stuff is kept really nice. We totally give it five stars and highly recommend and their staff members are very polite.

We had our camper at KOA for one season and it wasn't for us. We wanted more privacy and decided to purchase land. I gave my notice and made arrangements to disassemble our deck once the campground was closed. I called Tina the owner and advised her we had arrived. I was greated with attitude and was told she wasn't going to open the gate. We were told no cars are coming in and to walk our tools inside. As we walked through the campground there were multiple vehicles.
Her tone was rude and I could tell she looking for an argument. I'm self employed as well and I would never speak to a client in this manner. I was not going to entertain in her ridiculous games.
The campground is not managed properly. It's unfortunate as the location is ideal and overall it's a nice campground but I refuse to give my money to owners who have no respect for their guests.
Campers are asked to watch their neighbors to make sure they're not allowing their friends to use their trailers. It's a rule you need to be on the lease to stay. Operators need to step up and do their own jobs or hire staff.

As a young family of 3 we were told that we need to pay an extra $25 so mg son could sleep in his own tent. They say 6 per site, but apparently reserve the right to dictate how you sleep. Dining tents are no extra cost…. What? The bathrooms were filthy, one pool was closed because of filth. They posted a note to campers to go and try and find out why the public washroom was backing up…. Young families stay away. I’ve posted pics of my friends site (with trailer) which no extra costs were warranted and ours. Also a pic of how they ask you to be detective plumbers.

The campground really cared about keeping everyone safe. They made sure the paths had lots of lights, had security patrols around, and marked emergency exits clearly. All these things made the place feel secure and comforting for campers.

Friendly staff; rude manager. Internet is not free as advertised. 1st hour free then you pay $8.00 per day. Charges apply for what appeared to be any additional services and courtesies; for example early arrival fees and visitors. Daily train traffic and playground construction noise occurred throughout the day. One Sunday evening the sounds from a post hole auger began at 6 PM and carried on for two hours.

We stayed here for a couple nights while passing through NB.
We have a 33ft travel trailer and the spot we were in was not a spot that should have been rented to someone with a trailer as long as ours. It was impossible to back in. Luckily, the site behind us was empty, so we came through the back to get to our site.
Sites are very close together and there is a lack of privacy between them.
Wifi was paid and not free.
Splash pad is very small and nothing to write home about. One of the pools was closed for the duration of our stay. The large pool is ok, but jumping off the edge wasn’t allowed and my kids love doing jumps off the side, so that was disappointing.
Nature trail leading to a beautiful river and picnic area. It’s a hidden gem!
Lots of others kids around to keep kiddos entertained.

The staff were nice the owners are unprofessional. We were seasonal campers and ended up with damage to our camper from the lawn mower. Owner took one of the staff members down to blame him and yell at him for the damages. He rubbed the green paint off of my camper but did not repair the giant dent left even though he had someone come assess the damage. I was told it would not be repaired as I couldn't prove it was their green ride on mower that did it and not a child. One of been some strong child to cause that amount of damage. I was offered complimentary tickets to the drive in as compensation but I turned them down. The owners are very rude and look down on everyone.

One of the standout features was the variety of campsite options available. Whether you preferred a secluded spot for a more intimate experience or a site with easy access to communal areas, the campground catered to diverse preferences. This flexibility allowed campers to tailor their stay to their individual needs.
