When unexpected weather cancelled our long awaited trip to Newfoundland, my family of 6 were in a scramble to find a suitable short ski trip. Thanks to maple shade, our trip was a great success . Our three bedroom apartment in this huge old house was cute and rustic. It was a huge space, which included three big bedrooms, a living room with fireplace, one bathroom, full dining room, kitchen (fully stocked!!!) washer and dryer, and a sun room with an additional 3 or 4 twin beds in it.

Now it is an old house. The furniture is miss matched, and we couldn't get the DVD player to work-- but for us it kind of added to the charm.

The owners Jack an Linda were so accommodating. They lived down the street, but were only a phone call away (although we did not need them! Everything was included-- from the towels to the laundry detergent!) you can tell they just love meeting new people and maintaining maple shade.

Oh! And did I mention the best part ?! $150 a night! Taxes in !!

If you are looking for a to a place to stay in the quaint town of Sussex-- I highly recommend maple shade

Janine

All three suites (one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom) have lots of room, and all the required amenities to be very comfortable and self-sustaining (internet, cable, A/C, laundry, fully-appointed kitchen, iron). The house is 1850's, the decor is antique, but it has been modernized where it needs (bathroom, kitchen). Thanks, Jack, for taking care of Greg, me, and our families. We'll be back.

I was at the Shady Maple apartment with 4 other friends. We booked the apartment from Friday to Sunday for a craft weekend. We did scrapbooking, made cards, needle point and just having fun with some friends. We were thrilled with the accomodations. We each brought a meal with us to cook, fanstastic kitchen, fully stocked. Living room, dining room and large bathroom. My big thing was how wonderful the large color towels were. I love a place with nice towels. I loved the beautiful quilts and bedspreads. Very homie touch. The owners were really accomodating. This cost each of us $60 for the weekend. $300 total tax in. We are already planning our next weekend at this location. I would really recommend Shady Maple to anyone looking for an awsome place away from home. Thanks so much!

We were pleasantly surprised with our accommodations!
The restaurant that was recommended was outstanding !
We had a great night sleep, comfortable beds and it was quiet. No street noise.
The breakfast served to us in the morning was awesome! Best French toast I've ever had!
The yogurt parfait with fresh strawberries and raspberry was so delicious!
Thank you!!

Stayed here as a family. Older home so a bit of an old smell to the home- did not however impact our stay in any way, extremely clean Owner was very accommodating and available had we needed him however he had provided everything we could need.
Great location for walking to town and driving to Fundy.
Will recommend and would stay again

Stayed 3 nights at this 160 year old home in Sussex. I absolutely LOVED it. Jack is so friendly and accommodating. It was actually the last place available to book for the dates I needed, and there were just 2 of us who ended up in the 3 bedroom suite. I couldn't be more glad it worked out that way! We felt like we had our very own home in Sussex. The place has so much history and so much character. Little touches everywhere. Close to town, you can walk pretty much everywhere, but plenty of parking too. Not to mention the price for the size of space we had was MORE than reasonable. You could easily sleep 7 people - and to split the average nightly rate between that many people - you'd be saving a LOT compared to a boring old hotel. If you are with a group, book Jack's 3 bedroom suite for sure!
Thanks so much for your hospitality Jack! 10/10 will be back next time we are in Sussex!

My wife and I stayed for 10 days in the 2 bedroom suite. The owner (Jack) was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. It's an older home that's exceptionally well maintained. Also has off-street parking.

5 of us shared apartments 1 and 3 for a weekend of scrapbooking. The place is amazing, couldn't be cleaner. Being that it is January, it was cold out but the place was warm and comfortable. We had a snow storm sat night and Jack came to snow blow, he also cleaned off all our cars. Defineately apartment #1 is the cuter of the two, but I'd reccommend this rental to anyone. but I want to keep it quiet so it doesn't get too busy! lol
