I’ve stayed in the top 5 floors of rooms and the Presidential Suite for years. I’ve complained for many years that no matter what room you are in on the higher floors, the water pumps can’t maintain even water pressure, so when it drops for 2-3 seconds, the water turns burning hot and scalds you. The hotel has refused to even acknowledge or fix the problem, eventhough I had two maintenance men come to my room in January 2023 and they noted and acknowledged the water pressure drop. You want your kids to burn their hands washing them and burn yourself in the shower, then stay here.
Recently stayed at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford for 4 nights and had a fantastic visit. Love the location, away from the busy downtown and yet easy to get there by car. The north facing rooms have a beautiful mountain view and the sunsets were sensational! Hotel is very clean and the underground parking secure (and affordable compared to downtown hotels!). Loved the heated outdoor pool and hot tub - and they open early in the morning! All of the staff were genuinely friendly and the housekeeping team went above and beyond. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend.
Good hotel, clean and well maintained, professional staff. We had two adjoining rooms for our family over Christmas. Both were clean, comfortable, and with regular housekeeping services, even on Christmas Day. The lobby lounge had been renovated since our last stay and was very nice. My wife enjoyed her flight of three different unique cocktails. They should add some draft beers from a couple of the many excellent craft brewers in the area. Only downside is that the price of parking is up to $19.55 per day, which is rather high considering the hotel is in Surrey.
Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel was at 10% capacity. Gold status 43 nights this year. Should mean something. Yet this hotel wont care about your status. I was told no upgrades available to me. 1st night I was told the restaurant would close at 8. Had to eat a rushed diner. Guest service was horrible at check in. My coffee machine in the room didn't work. Guess service is slow and no good customer service to find around. Impossible for 3 days to reach anyone by phone. Impossible to obtain any form of room service or service on the second day. On the third night. I took my sons for diner at the restaurant. Nobody to find in sight. No kids menu. I had to explain that their serviced were horrible to finally get some sort of service. Food sucked. Service sucked. You just feel really unwelcomed and it shows by the capacity in the hotel next to nobody in there. Restaurant is completely sitting empty. Hot tube closed. Pool closed. Don’t waste your money or time here. Much nicer options around. Will never stay here again.…
Stayed here for a conference. Booked a Club Lounge room but the 21st floor lounge was closed. No information when/if it would reopen. All meals were in the MiXT bar and restaurant off the lobby. Hot and cold buffet breakfast. Very little cheese and bacon was in short supply, but the fruit, yogurt and hot dishes were okay. Again “supply issues” meant only marmalade bottles were on the table but staff could have thrown some of the Kraft buffet jams into a bowl on the table. There was a Grab and Go for morning coffee and quick bites but although a sign said it was open afternoons and evenings too, it was always closed when I walked by. Elevator signs promoted the pn-room menu and even conference organizers stated attendees could take their meals to their room if they feared catching Covid. No thank you. Before arriving, I extended my stay by one night. But the Marriott reservation system cannot do this. I had to make a second separate reservation for that one additional night in the same room and get another room card plus a separate invoice. Seems excessively bureaucratic. My room was clean and well serviced with a view of mountains which unfortunately were partially obscured by smoke from forest fires. You win some; you lose some. Complimentary bottled water and Nespresso machine. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion came in large refillable brown pump containers. I bring my own stuff so only used some wash and lotion which had a slight scent of old wood chips. Room doors are heavy and noisy when closed. I knew when my neighbors came and went by the bang of their doors. There is a fitness room and pool. Conference organizers have chosen this hotel for 30 years, so staff are aware of attendee’s needs. I asked hotel reception to arrange an early morning taxi to the airport and they did so efficiently. The hotel is a short two-block walk to the large Guildford Town Centre shopping mall with a Bay, Walmart, H&M, London Drugs, cinemas and many shops and services on two levels. …
Good property with a few issues - As a Bonvoy elite member I usually resist checking in on the app and prefer to visit the front desk to request a room upgrade, but if I visit this hotel again, I'd probably just use the app. Before arrival the app notified me that I had been upgraded, but the front desk told me there was no upgrade, just a standard room reservation with two beds (I was solo and only needed one bed), and could not be moved because the hotel was "full" (unfortunately, my parking lot/lobby bar/day of week lie detector test indicated that to be untrue). After check-in the app was confused, the amenities in the room I received did not match the room amenities on the app, which added to my suspicions that I was downgraded on arrival. So much for using my charm and status at the front desk :) My only request was a high floor with some kind of view, instead I was given room 707 (the hotel has 32 floors) facing the street with a beautiful view of a car dealership. Anyway, once I got beyond that, the room was clean, well organized, and quiet (except for some street noise, which is one reason I requested a high floor...). I liked the small window that could be opened, the weather was right for it and I turned off the climate control for the room for the duration of the stay. As I was miffed at my check-in experience, I chose to take my food & beverage revenue elsewhere, so I have no reviews of the facilities. The stay was uneventful until checkout, where I had to deal with the front desk again. I was charged for internet that is free for Bonvoy elites, and I was not charged the $15 per night for parking, which I know from experience will be much more when the hotel's non-affiliated parking service bills the rental car company, who passes the charge on to me with some eye-watering fees....Also, for some reason I was checked out at 9:30AM, even though I had requested and received a 1PM checkout. Their system couldn't handle giving me new keys, so somebody had to escort me to the room to pick up my bags after I stepped out for some ice. Overall, a great property that needs some work on it's systems and a little more training (and honesty?) at the front desk.…
Horrible service, scuffed up rooms, and amenities not usable (pool dirty, gym equipment covered with bedsheets, lounge closed). Easily the worst hotel experience in a while (I’m a gold member). Brought to managements attention and was basically brushed off. Stay anywhere but here or at your own risk.
After a long day at a celebration of life for a dear friend I decided to check into my old favourite hotel The Sheraton Guildford. I haven’t been here since pre Covid but used to frequent the restaurant 3 times per week while in Surrey for business. I’d meet family and bring my daughters for “staycations” overnight to use the pool and have some fun since they were little girls. The staff and management back then was kind and attentive and seemed to value my business. My mother stays here multiple times per year where we meet and enjoy time together. All this to say, I thought my family and I were valued customers here after 10 years. When I arrived late in the evening there was an issue with my credit card being declined multiple times. Such an embarrassing situation no doubt, and after a long and emotional day it brought me to tears. I had taken a designated driving service to the hotel and it turns out they triple charged my card causing me to exceed my balance. I kindly asked if they would allow me to put the majority of the amount on one credit card and the balance on a different card. The staff refused. They would not split the transaction into two. I asked if they could take a $1000 deposit from my debit card and refund it once I checked out in the am. Again they refused. I was left at the front desk in tears and with alcohol in my system there was no way for me to leave and drive somewhere else. I was humiliated and while I understand there is policies in place I believe given a long history with this hotel that someone could have found a way to split the charges between two cards or allow me to leave a large cash deposit for the night. Empathy was completely lost in this situation. I was a solo female traveller, alone at 10pm on a Saturday night. I reached out to my husband who of course offered to pay for the room on his visa by phone. They would not allow this either and essentially said I would have to leave at this point. Is it policy to kick long standing customers to the curb in the night? Why would my husband not be allowed to secure the room for me? A gentleman had overheard what was happening and offered to pay for my room on his debit MC and I could transfer him the money. The hotel refused to allow him to help me. Devastated I had to reach out to one of the out of town guests that came for the celebration of life. He had to drive all the way to the hotel and pay for the room for me so I could finally get some rest. I e-transferred him right away without incident. This incident was extremely isolating and distressing to say the least and the front desk staff did not seem to care one bit about me or what I was going through even after being loyal guests for all these years. I was looking forward to bringing my daughters, now teenagers, for a visit and pool day before the end of summer. They love the burgers in the restaurant and always love the views from the club floors. However, I am now looking at other options for our little staycation. I’m disappointed and have lost all trust in the hotel and it’s staff. More over, I’m insulted and felt degraded standing in the lobby in tears while the staff did not seem to have once ounce of empathy for my situation.…
The hotel staff didn't deliver on anything they promised. House keeping didn't do a good job for 4 out of the 5 nights that we stayed. We asked for a Microwave to heat up food for a small child we have and they never followed up. We called 4-5 times for the same and nobody ever bothered to follow up. Whenever we called they lacked empathy and worst thing is that they kept lying. Very frustrating experience. They must have done some cost cutting and appointed some junior low cost$$$ staff at the front office and everywhere. All junior staff who has no sense that they are in a service/hospitality industry. The Director later called back to rectify the situation but it is too much to reverse the experience delivered by the rest of the junior and senseless staff. Stay away from this hotel. This isn't the Sheraton experience you would know of. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone.…
The location was very good and near to all essential places and amenities. The rooms were very clean and service was tailored to customer needs to avoid contact with clients who did not want it. Access to food and entertainment is so close and available. Excellent front desk and customer service.
