Detailed Reviews
We had a family wedding at this resort in July. Some of the previous reviews I must say left us wondering but new owners have taken the place to a new level. Every single staff member was so friendly. The owners took special care of our group and the food was amazing.
We rented a small cabin with a loft, it was clean and nicely appointed. The only two things we found was the loft was difficult to access and the the pillows were a little soft.
We did some golfing and the course was excellent, challenging. Hole one had some green issues but the rest were excellent.
For the wedding the outdoor chapel was beautiful and lent it self to many great photos.
For the banquets the food was incredible, abundant and once again the staff didn’t let us down. So friendly and proud of the place it showed.
Thanks again and if your looking for a getaway or a destination wedding I would recommend it.

Stayed 4 nights in a modern and comfortable 2 story, 2 bedroom Townhouses with modern kitchen. Utensils, dishes, pots and pan, pretty much everything you would need to make meals. BBQ worked lovely, natural gas hook up, not fuss. Full bath off master bedroom, 2nd bedroom has it's own 1/2 bathroom which includes a stand alone shower. Plus a 1/2 bathroom on main floor. Only draw back is the gravel road that runs by the complex, tends make for a bit of dusty environment if it hasn't rained through the night. Overall, very nice stay.

My husband and I went up for a weekend snowmobiling trip. It had it's good points and bad. When the staff was there, they were very helpful. The cabins were nice, however you can tell they were built by amateurs (plug-ins partially built into the cupboard, so it needed to be cut out). The kitchen was well-equipped with pretty much any utensils you could need. But it would be nice if they provided some basic condiments and coffee. The snowmobiling trails were amazing and the locals were extremely friendly and helpful. There seemed to be some miscommunication with the staff. It clearly stated that check out time was 11am and we were expected to abide by that, however the winter hours for the pro shop and office didn't open until 11:30. So we just left our keys inside the cabin. It can be difficult to find without a GPS as there aren't any signs directing you to the resort, but the area is breathtaking. We were able to go for the weekend with a travel zoo voucher, so for the price we paid, it was a very good deal. It'd be a great trip to take with friends in either the winter or summer.

From the pictures it looks like a nice newer place. Boy are pictures deceiving. The place was run down inside and out. There were mosquitoes squished on the walls and ceiling and some with blood in them from other tentants. Walls had chunks of drywall taken out of them, toilets ran continually despite asking for someone to come fix them, stove didn’t work. I think we’re grossed me out the most was that their bedsheets did not fit their beds. We went to the main office to ask about why the entire mattress was not covered and they said they do not have bedsheets that fit the beds. The sheets covered about 3/4 of the way down the mattress but our feet were touching bare mattress. We ended up having to line our mattress with towels. Cob webs everywhere, bags of bottles from previous visitors left and baking in the heat. Definitely not impressed for our weeks stay.
Pros: The layout is great. Both bedrooms have full bathrooms and there’s also a bathroom on the main floor.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We are now under new ownership at the resort and the accommodations have been given a great uplift as well as our amenities. Hope you can give us another chance soon!

This business is an absolute joke. We booked a cabin for the weekend over a year ago and they proceeded to change our reservations and give a whopping 20 minutes notice before check in. After we get to the office they also proceeded to move us into two tiny four-plexes where NINE people can't even comfortably fit in the space. They knew they where cancelling our cabin a month and a half ago but never thought to call us or notify us when we called to confirm our dates/book golfing. Oh and top it all off the female older worker at the front was extremely rude and unprofessional when dealing with us. I'm sorry, dont have a business if you cant properly run it.

We booked here for a weekend after seeing a promotion on Facebook for a winter getaway package. The weather unfortunately ended up being extremely cold the weekend we chose, so we were not able to fully utilize all of the amenities. Had it been a bit warmer I am sure our kids would have spent the entire weekend outside enjoying the many offerings. They did brave the elements and enjoyed skating, sledding and ice fishing for short periods of time. It was warm inside the ice huts, and the staff were very helpful in ensuring it was warmed up and transporting us out there on a side by side. The cabin we stayed in was nice, clean and it had everything that we needed. The package came with a dining credit and it actually went further than we thought. The food was tasty! The staff were so friendly and helpful - both in the restaurant and in the office. They went above and beyond- eg) when my car wouldn’t start they helped us out with booster cables. Would definitely stay again! Hopefully when the weather is better as it would have been a beautiful area for walks and enjoying the outdoors.

+1
We went with a group on Labour Day Weekend, and I am incredibly disappointed at the level of cleanliness (pictures attached). One of the guests cleared spiders and spider webs with a broom in their bedroom. I mentioned this to the staff at the front desk, and she just apologized and said they would make sure they clean it for the next guests, but that didn’t satisfy our problem.
I would never stay there again! Go to Elk Ridge instead.

We were looking forward to a variety of activities during our week long stay at the Candle Lake Golf Resort. Hiking however is limited to sporadic trails throughout the bush in the community and nowhere near the lake. The community map of trails is not as depicted.
The resort does not have a beach. Two public beaches are located a 5+ minute drive away.
Cabins at the resort are poorly located. No water view, no forest view, just other cabins. Lake views are saved for the golf course.
We stayed in Cabin 13. All the other cabins had adjacent fire pits except cabin 13. No screens on the patio door and 2 other windows which hampered fresh air ventilation.
Cleanliness of the cabin was not acceptable. For example the white ceiling fan blade edges where coated in fuzzy grime. (Ceiling fan was within arm reach). The inside of the bathroom door was covered in streaky stains & hand stains. Bathroom baseboards topped with fuzzy grime. This is not what I would expect on a regular day and highly unacceptable during a pandemic.
Marina is located about a city block away. Boat launch/Marina is geared primarily for motorized boats and not oberly Kayak friendly.
We recommend researching other accommodations if you are planning a visit to Candle Lake.

Made a reservation for Sep 2023 for five of us to do a little golf and boating. Unfortunately and despite our repeated attempts the resort was unwilling to work with us to come up with a tee time whereby the group could stay mostly intact. We cancelled the reservation and were required to pay the 10% cancellation fee.

Golf course is in rough shape. Yellow grass , divots everywhere. Staff are not friendly. Service at the restaurant is terribly slow. Waitress rolled her eyes when I asked for a menu. Steak was done in a frying pan, not grilled. Took forever to get a refill on my drink. They simply don’t care one little bit.
