The Pemberton Valley Lodge is celebrated for its prime location and the value it offers, with guests frequently commending the clean, spacious rooms and family-friendly amenities such as the pool and hot tub. While the majority of visitors appreciate the attentive staff and the inviting atmosphere of the hotel, which includes well-appointed kitchenettes and cozy lounges, a few have experienced issues with pricing and customer service.
Despite these concerns, the lodge's pet-friendly environment and the convenience of its well-equipped kitchens make it a popular choice among travelers.

Detailed Reviews
We look for well maintained properties with good location for walking our dog that have a separate bedroom and kitchen facilities. We prefer to be left to our own devices so my review is not based on being served or catered to by staff, although all were very friendly and rooms were spotless. You can walk straight out of this property into the local trail system and a short walk takes you to One Mile Lake where there is an off lease dog beach that we use frequently during our stays. We come up about twice a year and always stay here.

It's the nicest option in Pemberton, which is a great little town with great food for anyone venturing into the back country nearby. But for the price, not as fancy as they'd make it sound and little things like the posting on the room door explaining how much they'll charge you for every-single-thing in the room should you choose to liberate it, plus the damaged showers in both the rooms we rented, made it feel more like a road side motel.
Staff was really nice. Pool and hot tub very clean. It was just these little things.

Pemberton Valley Lodge is in a beautiful location about half an hour north of Whistler, B.C. It is nicely located for access to hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, etc. at Garabaldi, Joffre Lakes, and other provincial parks and natural areas, as well as the Whistler area. It is walking distance from pleasant downtown Pemberton, which has a grocery store, bakery, restaurants, etc.
We found our room to be extremely comfortable and unusually pleasant. It was well-equipped with kitchen items and even an in-room washer and dryer (pretty handy for hikers/skiers!). The lodge offers a remarkable range of facilities, including pool and hot tub, cafe, bike and ski storage, bikes and snowshoes available to rent, EV charging, horseshoe pit, a car-wash station in the garage, and more.
We spent only one night here, feeling lucky to find an available room after an unexpected problem changed our travel plans. We would have loved to spend multiple days in the lodge, using it as a base for all the great local hiking opportunities. The only thing that would keep us from doing so was the price, which is pretty much out of reach for families of ordinary means.

Wow let me start by saying our company has spent over 25k here over the last couple months. Lots of different jobs up there, and there’s will continue to be lots more in the future. The guest service manager Michelle is rude, and has absolutely no regard for her customers. She has charged us $500x2 in fines saying there was weed ash on the patio. Apparently the cleaners found a small amount of ash on the railing on a first floor room upon us leaving. It was very windy and easily could have blown there as a smoker was walking by. I spent quite some time trying to explain to her we did not smoke. Actually the guy staying in the room just got drug tested as it’s required for a job. I told her I would happily send her the negative results. No thanks she said. When I asked for any evidence at all, or an explanation from someone who saw, or to speak with anyone else she flat out said rudely too bad. It is too bad. We would be spending a 100k there in accommodations this year, and she so stubborn she’s losing that revenue because she refuses to listen to reason or explanation of any kind. I will not give this place another cent of our business.
Edit: upon looking at inter google reviews, it looks like this place and Michelle is known for just randomly charging people fines for no reason with no explanation. We’ve been to so many hotels over the years with our employees and never had a fine for any reason. Even though she refused to give me a name or number of anyone above her, I would advise the owner to look into this woman. It seems something deceptive is going on. What a shame.

Lenny20202021, Your vitriol and anger directed towards one of our most valuable staff members is excessive and misguided. Frankly, it is considered bullying and we do not stand for that at Pemberton Valley Lodge. Your staff member smoked on the balcony of their guest suite. This has happened not once, but twice. We are a 100% smoke free property and clearly explain this policy and the financial consequences for violating it at check-in. Evidence of smoking on the patio was found after departure. There was a cannabis cigarette butt and multiple ash spots on the balcony railing and floor. This evidence is clear and conclusive. It had snowed heavily the evening before and there were no footprints leading to or from the balcony, indicating the smoker came out of the balcony door from the suite. Your insistence on the cannabis cigarette butt and ash coming from a suite above due to wind is impossible due to the location of the butt and ash. We would never jeopardize a business relationship with an erroneous claim. We never want to find evidence of smoking, period. Due to the high cost of the penalty for doing so on our property we are incredibly careful to ensure the evidence is clear and conclusive. You are free to choose to take your business elsewhere while you are working in the area. David MacKenzie

Had to cancel 2 days before as my husband had the sniffles and responsibly got a covid test before going anywhere. Was told by lodge I was 15 min from being penalized as they have a very strict cancellation policy pandemic or no. This seemed inflexible as it appears they are operating at partial capacity but at this point I was still trying to give lodge benefit of the doubt and hoped we could still go. Fortunately the covid test came back negative in time for us to rebook. Was told the original 2 bedroom that would accommodate our family and my parents coming from another town was no longer available for the 2 nights so I had the option to book a one bedroom, check out at 11am, store our things for 5 hours and then check into the two bedroom at 4pm. So we booked. Later the lodge called back to say 2 bedroom was now available for both nights but at this point my parents had already changed plans and reservation could stay as it was. On the second day the lodge called when the second room was available for check in and I mentioned that my parents would get there before us and asked them to give them access. Unbeknownst to me they took my parents credit card information even though they had my credit card on file for the reservation and my husband’s credit card on file from when we first checked in. When I left the lodge I stopped by the front desk and asked if they needed anything from me to check out and they said not at all. Next day I didn’t see my credit card that I used to make the reservation had been charged so called and found out my husband’s credit card had been charged for the first night and my parents card was charged for the second night. I was told by the lodge that in order to change the charges both myself and my father would have to drive from Kamloops and Vancouver respectively back to Pemberton to reverse the charge in his card and put it on mine. I had wanted to treat our parents and was quite humiliated by lodge staff at this point. I don’t understand why they couldn’t charge my husbands card that was used for the first night or my card that the reservation was originally booked under. If lodge staff were just a bit less aggravating I would be able to overlook the stained towels and the black mold in the shower grouting but the experience in general was so frustrating that we would not recommend a stay here to anyone.

Dear elizabethbZ8686WN, The reason we had to take payment on your parents' credit card is because you did not stop by the Front Desk to provide billing instructions. You had already left the property when you called to ask if we could refund your parents' credit card and charge yours, but it was too late as we would have required you to be physically present at the lodge to pay with your own credit card. For leisure guests, we have a very strict policy where the credit card holder needs to pay with chip & PIN. This policy is in place to protect the lodge and guests, such as yourself, from fraudulent activity. Warm regards, David MacKenzie

We spent a lovely 4-night get-away at the PVL. Prior to arrival, we were able to get all our questions answered quickly via email. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite with kitchen so brought most of our food. We were very happy with the poolside BBQs and the pool and hot tub were nice. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the quiet location and convenience of the outdoor wonderland BC has to offer in the area. We brought our dog, Olivia, and she really enjoyed the nearby hikes and meeting the other dog guests.

This hotel was a great spot for a family getaway. The pool, games area and proximity to other recreation made it a great place for the family to vacation. Be sure to book directly and get the rate confirmed in the email. While we booked directly and had some confusion about the rates, I was glad I didn’t go with the third party booking agent that had inflated rates and were not able to answer questions about COVID 19 protocols or offer cancellation policies.

1. Staff could not confirm when our room would be ready even though check in time has passed. Staff made an excuse that some guests check in at 6pm (well sure, maybe because they arrived at 6pm? We were there at 4pm which is the posted check in time). There was also a group of guests who had a wedding rehearsal at 5pm and they could not get their rooms in order until 420pm. Totally unacceptable
2. Gave us the wrong room number + key card
3. AC inside the room smelled, had to stay off
4. Bath towel stained, dishes left in the dishwasher (clean or dirty, who knows)
5. Power outage from 11pm-720am. Staff did not check in on us. Food went bad. Family member has sleep apnea and needs a CPAP machine (needs electricity) to sleep - had to go through the night without it, jeopardizing his health. Had to use our cell phone lights to navigate around the room (we luckily had batteries on our phone, but what if we didn't? Or what if we were elderly with a high risk for falls?). Had to shower with cell phone light. Staff did not come in to offer any flashlight or explanation of what was happening. Middle of the night, you could hear guests opening doors and peeking out in confusion. Did not address this either at check out.
6. No warning from hotel staff / hotel website that hot tub would not be working (one of the reasons we decided to book the stay)
For $440.00 CAD per night, this was truly disappointing.

I made reservations two months in advance and spoke to the front desk person on the phone in detail about a mountain view room. When I arrived they gave us a room on the bottom floor facing the parking lot. We had to shut the curtains everytime a vehicle pulled up which was very often being the parking spaces people used to check into the hotel..
Very disappointing. When I asked to be moved because I had opened the door to see the view they said because of Covid that could not be done. I find this hard to believe when the hotel was empty for two days once we arrived. One of the desk employees said that being so far in advance that we made our reservation we should had been assigned a mountain view room from the very beginning when we arrived.

Dear JaVonna B, Thank you for your candid review. Please note that you did stay with us during our very busy peak Christmas season and requests for any type of floor or view are based on availability and occupancy at time of arrival. We do not guarantee these requests, but do our absolute best to accommodate them when we can. It's important to note that you were traveling with your pet and we have very limited pet-friendly rooms available, making it more challenging to honor specific requests. Warm regards, David MacKenzie

Staycationed for one night at Pemberton Valley Lodge. Short two hour drive from Vancouver. Got in at around 3:30pm. Daughter hopped to the warm outdoor pool in for nice quick dip Rested for bit and then a 25-minute drive to Whistler for dinner. Back before 8:30pm. Another quick dip at the pool before calling it a day. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with full kitchen, dining table that sits four, washer dryer. We observed a few guests checking in with coolers, food, drinks, etc... If we had a few more days, we would be enjoying our meals in the comforts of our suite. The following morning, we headed to One Mile Lake but found the waters a little murky to swim. So decided to take a half an hour drive Alta Lake in Whistler, rented a paddle boat . Swim . Yes, swim! We were lucky to have such beautiful hot weather. Back at the hotel just in time to shower and then check-out. It was short trip but we managed to make the most of it. We hope more of Pemberton next time and will be surely staying at Pemberton Valley Lodge.
