Communal bathrooms and a complete 'Camp' feeling was the initial impression. The rooms were not kept clean every day and they were very small or rather cramped.
The price was outrageous for something of that quality - they should not be able to charge more than 60-70 dollar for what they offer.
On the other hand - the place is perfectly located with a great view over the bay and the surrounding garden and especially the main room was perfect for gatherings and entertainment.
The kitchen was not working/open which meant not even breakfast was served to the guests?
All in all - get your act together and renovate this charming place and it could be one of the best hotels on the island.

Stayed at the Lodge for a work trip and loved every minute of it. The location is breathtaking and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. Really enjoyed the variety of buffet food and custom cocktails from the bar. Don't let the shared showers and bathrooms be a surprise!

Greeted by Manager Sam and his trusty canine partner Irish was a great start to our visit. With Irish around feel free to stroll in your bare feet and not worry about the presents left by the local geese!

This lodge is not a typical hotel. My sons and I stayed in the standard rooms which were impecably clean. A huge hot tub, mountain bikes, kayaks from a private pier. Walking distance from the ferry. As well as walking distance from town center, pubs, grocery stores, liquor stores and restaurants.

Only a 20 minute ferry ride from the Mainland Horseshoe Bay.

A huge common room with a stone fire place as well as a fire place outside. Besutiful grounds right on the ocean.

My next trip will be spent in the canvas tent perched over the cliff over looking the ocean. Roughing it at its best!!!

Thanks to Sam and his staff!!! And Irish..

Bowen Island Lodge was recommended to us as we planned a special birthday/family/friend weekend. I cannot say enough good things about the Lodge, the Management, their facilities, comfortable beds, bathrooms (clean although shared which isn't something we are used to), and of course the amazing property, the ocean, the list goes on. It was special having the whole facility for our group and it was wonderful being able to wander the property, play family games and enjoy visiting and partying in an environment that was private and beautiful. We will remember our weekend for a very long time and special thanks to Sam for everything he did to make the weekend perfect.

I don't understand how they can charge 150 for a room that barely could hold a double bed. It really was very small, and having shared bathrooms at this price is just ludicrous. Would not stay here again, unless the price was like 50-70. I've stayed in roomier hostels.

My husband and I recently got married at the Bowen Island Lodge. It was perfect!
We love the outdoors and camping and wanted a wedding that reflected our hobbies. The Lodge offered an 'outdoorsy' feel without being too rustic (although the bathrooms are shared)! It sleeps about 40 people. You actually get the whole lodge to yourself when you book for an event, so you don't have strangers walking in to your party and disturbing your group.

We booked the lodge for the whole weekend so that we could actually spend some time with our guests. Instead of the wedding being over in about 6 hours we partied from Friday night until Sunday morning. The lodge has a really nice dining hall and a beautiful lawn overlooking the ocean, with the mountains in the background. It was a very tranquil setting for an outdoor wedding. Our friends are still raving over it. Plus, with the short distance to Vancouver, people were able to easily make the trip out and back for the ceremony and dinner if they didn't want to spend the night.

The Lodge manager was really helpful and even helped us set up tables and decorations.

This is a perfect location for a company retreat. The meeting rooms were flexible for different activities from sofas to boardroom style and all with a beautiful view of the bay. The weather was perfect so we were able to enjoy our breakfast and lunch out on the sundeck. The caterers did an excellent job with our meals. Everything was well prepared and ready for us. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds were very cozy. The shared bathrooms were not an issue at all. They were spotlessly clean and spacious. Staff were attentive and very easy to work with. We would go back.

I was told the lodge is under new management and has been updated with wonderful beds, bedding etc. Every room now also has Television (but who needs it with a wonderful view of the bay). This was actually our first visit to this location. It is an easy 5 minute walk from the ferry. We went with a choir for a weekend retreat. Could not have had a better time. The catered food was very tasty and plenty full. Sit in the garden with a good book or go for a hike to the lake, or just visit the little shops on the main road. You can't go wrong. Everyone is very friendly and the manager will go out of his way to make your stay comfortable. I love the little dog that will never leave his side. Try it you'll like it!

I was planning a major event for dozens of people. The budget was easily 7 to 8 thousand dollars. I was planning on booking at least 15 rooms and other facilities. The hotel did not respond to multiple emails and direct messages to the hotel in September - not even an auto-reply. I am not sure what is up, but I see with other non TripAdvisor reviews this is an issue with this place. Maybe due to COVID? Maybe due to short staffing due to the pandemic etc? To not even have an acknowledgement email or anything is very concerning. I recommend being very cautious when attempting a booking with this hotel.

This is a charming property located in beautiful, West Coast setting. Rooms are clean, and comfortable, with cozy beds and linens. The amenities provided are like those in dorm-style accommodations and these were clean and pleasant. The great hall gathering space is truly wonderful with a fireplace and comfy sofas.

Answer from Bowen Island L
Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada
Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately right now we only accommodate group retreats and special events such as family reunions, weddings, and staff parties. Our minimum booking policy is 10 rooms for two nights. There are plenty of great B&Bs and home rentals on Bowen for individual accommodation. Sorry I couldn't help you out more. If you have any questions please let me know. Tim O'Hagan Manager Bowen Island Lodge 380 Cardena Rd, Bowen Island, BC V0N- 1G1 Direct: 604-947-2129 Fax: 604 947 2122
