Detailed Reviews
We stayed for two nights. Good value, nice size room but a bit old and dated. Carpet worn and not very clean. Beds were ok but covers worn. Washroom was clean and good Ok place in general for the price.

I would've had a lot of trepidation about pulling into the parking lot had I not read tripadvisor reviews first. the place looks pretty rough from the outside. on the inside, the rooms are your standard budget hotel room. the bathroom was clean and supplied with soap and shampoo. the hot water in the shower runs out after about 20 minutes. the sheets on one of the two beds were looking pretty old and worn so we just slept on the other bed, which was fine. we didn't have particularly noticeable cigarette smells in our room, but definitely noticed some other occupants smoking in their rooms with the doors open, so we might've just gotten lucky. we stayed for 3 nights and thought it was a good budget option, just don't expect anything fancy!

Clearly, from the attitude of the reception personnel, this hotel has too many guests.
The room was very nice, good infrastructure, wonderful view of the glacier.
All in all a great location, only negative was the huge amount of people mulling around, waiting for bus tours.

We feared for our safety and well-being! We arrived late- the key was in the door when we arrived, with someone else’s receipt on the desk in the room. It got worse from there. Very few people there and they placed us next to a man living there. He was shouting all night long (I think arguing with himself), using profanities, and throwing himself or something violently against the wall every 20 minutes- shaking the wall and our bed! He was shouting, “I’m gonna put a hole in your head!” and “put the gun down”! We finally had enough and began calling the motel number about 2 am until about 4- no answer! We were about to call RCMP to escort us out! The last straw was when he started walking back and forth in front of our room tapping on our window and knocking on the front wall of our room! We decided to to throw everything in the car and try to get out without him noticing - didn’t work!
We respectfully asked for a refund after explaining everything- the owner agreed. Then she said she could only give us half back because she’d lose money otherwise! We found an additional charge posted to our credit card- no credit! It took several calls and days to get any money back.
It is obvious that guest safety, customer service and guest comfort is not a priority here!

I booked this motel for the last week of August 2019 in mid-July and received a confirmation about successful booking. Later, I needed to change the dates (making my stay one day shorter) and sent a request which was also sucessfully approved on August 12 and I received another confirmation from Glacier View Inn.
When I arrived on my check-in date, August 27, 2019, I found a note on the motel's door: "Please check-in in the office" with an arrow pointing to the Chinese restaurant next door.
In the restaurant, the owner, a chinese lady, looked at my printed reservation and told me that they couldn't accommodate me because they shut down the motel operation a month ago. She didn't apologize and instead said: "We sent out a cancelation email to all our customers a month ago". That was a lie because I altered my reservation on Aug12 (two weeks before) and they approved it. I did not receive any cancellation email from Glacier View Inn. The lady refused to admit any mistake on her part, didn't apologize, and told me to find another motel in the town - in the middle of the peak season. She didn't even bother to offer any assistance in finding another accommodation.
During the following days, I had been keeping an eye on their motel - it was operational: there were cars at the entrance, big sign on the road, and that door note asking to register at the restaurant.
If you decide to book Glacier View Inn - keep in mind that when you arrive there you may be refused your accommodation for a fake reason.

We spent one night at the Glacier View Inn. It is right on the road coming into Haines Junction from Whitehorse, very easy to find. It looks a little rough from the outside, paint peeling and not maintained. We checked in at the restaurant, which looked very nice. Our room smelled faintly of cigarette smoke and the beds were OK, but not great. I wanted to get the wifi password and the restaurant was closed, so there was no one to ask. The room phone didn't work and hotel staff didn't answer the main number when I called from my cell phone. The restaurant had no contact information posted after it was closed, so luckily my e-mail confirmation had the facility's phone number. I finally got the room phone to work after trying several things, but couldn't hear the person on the other end of the line. He could apparently hear me, A very nice gentleman came by the room and gave me the password. He allowed as how the room phone was probably old and that is why it didn't work. Once connected the wifi worked well enough. This is a pretty old facility and just needs a really good thorough scrubbing to get the smoke smell out of it. We could hear the people in the other rooms, some of whom appeared to be living at the hotel. We left about 8:15 the next morning and the restaurant was closed, so we got breakfast somewhere else. I wouldn't plan to stay at the Glacier View Inn again unless I had no options.

Good location for an overnight stay. Very once view to the mountains. The staff is very nice and friendly. The hotel does not look nice from the outside, but the rooms are good and comfortable. The price is very reasonable. Wifi was quite weak and the connection to the internet slow.

We booked for one night, with some hesitation given the negative reviews. We ended up happily staying for a second night.
The negatives: The exterior is in poor condition. The sheets, bedspread and carpets are overdue for replacement. The room and bathroom need better lighting.
What we liked: For $85 a night, we got a room with two comfortable double beds (room 11). The bathroom was fine. Lots of water pressure for a hot shower. The free WiFi worked fine in our room. Coffeemaker and a table with two chairs. The room faced away from the highway so was quiet, except we could hear neighbours' voices through the wall. The manager, Cathy, was very helpful and friendly.
This is definitely not a luxury spot, but it provides adequate accommodations at a much lower price than neighbouring motels.
We enjoyed dinner at the Lucky Dragon restaurant attached to the motel -- see our separate review.

Place to lay your head. The hot water was dodgy. It was clean. This is an inn in the most basic of terms. Mini fridge. Coffee maker. Right on the Alaska highway. Chinese restaurant attached. Town has limited services. Tiny grocery store. Tiny town.

Office staff really helpful at all times.
They gave us a upgrade but the upper bedroom was incredibly hot - despite outside the temperature could was as low as -5º, we had to turn on the AC due to the heat!!!! And this AC unit was too noisy!
