The lodge is set on the Marina in Ucluelet within walking distance of downtown, walking trails and places to eat. There is a lovely veranda overlooking the marina to sit and drink your coffee and watch the activity on the marina.
We stayed for two nights on the weekend. I'm guessing the demand and thus room prices go up significantly on weekends. We certainly paid way more for the room than what it is worth. When we checked in we had a room on the lower level and it was very noisy from foot steps from the room above. They did upgrade us to what they called a king executive suite when we requested a room on the upper level due to the noise. We really appreciated the upgrade however the room was very dated, the carpet was past its' best-before-date and the decor was very haphazard. The TV did not work well and the upstairs room with the king bed was very basic and without a TV.
If you like a communal kitchen they do offer one on the grounds where you can cook your own food.
High marks for location but in terms of the actual room itself we paid way more money per night for this room than what we felt it was worth when comparing it with some of the other hotels we stayed in on this west coast vacation.

Such mixed reviews but we decided to book for 3 nights. I think it depends on what room you are in-some have been updated & possibly some not. We had originally booked a reg room(decent rate for Sept) and they “upgraded” us to a loft room. One of the owners saw us struggling with the luggage up the stairs (no elevator) & took both our luggage up for us-very nice! Room had 2 queens(no king beds) on main floor & 2 twin beds in loft-we used the twin beds for our luggage since there was no space on main floor & no closet to hang clothes Nice view of the harbor. Beds were comfortable & our bathroom had been updated & had a nice shower with plenty of hot water! Need to install towel bars tho-no place to hang wet towels. Would be nice to have small microwave also

The room had a very unique look to it, with a vestibule when you enter the room, then down a few steps to the room where there was also a fireplace near the patio doors. The beds were comfortable, the shower was decent, and the towels were plentiful and soft. There was no luggage rack, which is a disappointment, but my main complaint, was that the room had a strong mouldy smell which forced me to keep the window open at night. There was a good view from my main floor balcony of the harbour and the area was nice. I thought the service by the front desk was friendly and I liked the covered boardwalk around the lodge. However, I didn’t see the value on what I received for the price I paid.

Upon arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a loft suite with 3 beds which was not available when we reserved. When I stated if we were upgraded we no longer needed two rooms the front desk clerk ignored me and advised the 2 rooms had been billed already and handed me the debit machine. Again I stated we would be able to do one room and she continued. I again said we could just do one room? She then ignored me again and handed me the keys to the two rooms. She then advised me that we had been charged an extra $100 for an extra child and there would be no housekeeping during our 3 day 2 night stay, if we needed anything we should come to the front desk.
Front desk then advised us that our upgrade was from the main floor we requested because of our dog, to the 3rd floor. When I inquired about an elevator, I was directed to park in an unsecured gravel lot with boat trailers and use the 3 flights of stairs. When I told her we had a cooler and 5 large suitcases as we are traveling for 3 weeks she just repeated her parking directions. I again asked if we gave up the upgrade if there was something on the main floor she looked at her computer and again told me the upgrade was at no charge.
This is NOT a 4 star hotel and the pictures are very deceiving. The bathroom is very small and there was no hot water in the morning.
We had to call front desk at 1130pm to ask the people 2 rooms over to shut down their yelling. Front desk had been very diligent in telling me to remind my kids that 10pm is strict quiet time but there were groups on the property being loud well after midnight.
Rooms have NO AC which is not listed anywhere in their advertising. The lofts are hot with no airflow and leaving the windows open didn't help as the sun was shining in the windows at 6am. There were also no fans available.
Had a peek at their communal kitchen. We opted to eat out as it was very limited.
Although we did not come to watch tv, the tv was no more than a 27" screen which was difficult to see from the beds as it is shoved into a corner.
Overall, this was not worth $525/night at all. We caution others to seek more services for the dollar. We most definitely will never be back however I believe they don't care as there are enough tourists going through the area to rip off.
Very disappointing!!

For the price this was a very disappointing experience. We paid around $340 a night. It’s value for money at $220. The rooms are clean. The bathrooms have been upgraded in recent years. But the rooms are dark and nothing like the bright and airy look conveyed by the photos on their website. We had a pet friendly room overlooking the marina which was green mud most of the time. They provide a dog water bowl and a dog bed if you need one. Even the pet-allowed room was clean - nothing like some of the reviews we read, so perhaps this has changed. The location is very convenient for walking to coffee shops and restaurants but otherwise the surrounding area is a little run down. Would not stay here again for the price.

We stayed in a basic two queen-bed room. Our stay was uncomfortable and filled with inconveniences. 1. Not only did the shower not drain (a 10 minute shower resulted in ankle deep water), but the bathroom got damp and stayed damp overnight even with the fan on. For four people, we were given one soap and a set of shampoo/conditioner, which was not enough. 2. The walls are very thin and we could hear every movement of the people staying upstairs. 3. We stayed on the ground level and were told to shut our door despite us having a normal-volumed conversation. It was illogical because it was hot & no different than if we had our window open. 4. Therefore, the rules and expectations were very unclear. There was also a curfew of 10pm which is VERY early for the summer and is not stated on their website. 5. There are no phones in the unit and despite staying for 4 days, the room was never cleaned and the garbage was never taken out. I guess the positive is the location—but there are definitely other places to stay!

Spent two nights on a quick getaway trip with family. The rooms are exactly as described and are very comfortable with lots of space, nice balcony, good beds and a decent bathroom. You find the traditional mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Kudos for the extraordinary wifi service. I had to attend a meeting and I felt like I was in the office. The buildings look rustic and some of the areas, although charming, look a bit rundown. Two minor issues do not let me give it full marks: the room temperature is on the low side with not too much you can do to make it warmer. Linked to that, the room has a fireplace but there is no logs or implements to turn it on. The second would take care of the first but it didn’t happen. Also, note that there is very little on the way of office or hotel staff. We didn’t need it but some people may feel uncomfortable about it.

At almost $475.00 a night, most definitely stay away from this place, way overpriced for way you get. We booked this room a few months ago when availability in the Ucluelet-Tofino area was somewhat limited. With the Hwy4 closures, we attempted to cancel our reservation but was refused as it was less than the 7 day cancellation policy and road closures aren’t exempt. Ends up that the expected delays were not that bad and made it to the motel without issue. Checking was quick but the the person at the front desk was quite rude and dismissive. Other staff were great, one noticed that we had quite a few bags and immediately came and brought them to our room for us. Our room smelt damp and musty, we needed to keep window and patio door open. We had reserved a room with water view, which was a bog. Bathroom had mold, toilet leaked, shower head was almost falling off. On the plus side, beds were fairly comfortable and excellent water pressure!

Our family of seven spent three nights here and had a very comfortable stay. The executive loft room was the perfect size, and spacious enough for our family. A rustic, if perhaps slightly dated, property, the room was well appointed with a fully remodelled bathroom. Room amenities included a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and television. There was no safe in the room. We also had a lovely view of the inlet and marina.
As our stay was during COVID, the hotel wasn’t providing daily housekeeping service. However, whenever we called the front desk for additional towels, toilet paper and such, an employee was always at our door literally within minutes with whatever we had requested. Staff encounters were universally pleasant.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to others should you be considering a stay in the area.

In a nice location. Nice and quiet. They say it's a 4 star hotel but rather 3 stars. Price quality ratio is wrong. They charge too much for an overnight stay. Room smelled musty. No hook on the wall to hang anything. Little bit bare, moodless I found it. Cleaning was mediocre. Shower gel products are not in the bathroom. Beds are good. I slept very well. Service desk good and very friendly.

Hi Ivan. The Canadian Princess is now under new ownership and is no longer offering fishing charters. For more information on the lodge, and to get the contact information of the new owners, please visit their website. Unfortunately TripAdvisor doesn't let me post websites, phone numbers or email addresses here, but if you do a search for "Canadian Princess" their website should come right up. I hope that helps.
