Vancouver Island summer rates are just silly, but there you are. We paid twice the normal price for this type of roadside accommodation. We booked just a few days ahead, from the road, so maybe there are better options for the better organised traveller. Anyway, it was alright. The room was a bit worn, but clean and comfortable. There was a big table and chairs, a fridge and a microwave. It is a family-run business, which I am always happy to support, and the family is very friendly and helpful. The location is good for the hiking trails and the small town centre. No breakfast. COVID protocols are being properly applied as far as we could see.
First things first, this motel is now known as ‘Ukee Peninsula Motel’ and is now well managed by a friendly Korean family. There is no in house restaurant but there are plenty of eateries and restaurants within walking distance on the Peninsula Road where this motel is located. Like any motel this one too has a big parking lot, which it shares with the Japanese restaurant ‘Sake Sushi’ next door. The room we booked had two queen sized beds which was adequate for the three of us. The room was spacious and had a floor carpet. There was a microwave oven, coffee maker, a mini fridge, a flat-screen TV, dining table and chairs, and an open clothes rack with hangers. There was individual heating in the room and bathroom. The bathroom had a bathtub with running hot water and was well provided with soap, shampoo, moisturiser and toilet paper. There was free individual wi-fi for each room. There was a shopping complex next door with a restaurant, a café, an art gallery, a post office and a coin operated laundromat. In short we had a very comfortable stay at Ukee Peninsula Motel since it is so conveniently located, and at a reasonable price compared to other properties in Tofino and Ucluelet.…
Do not let the view from the outside deter you! This place is amazing! Huge large rooms, clean, comfortable beds, frig, microwave, dining room, and great internet. They even gave you a fan, as no one has AC on the island, which really isn’t needed. This is a two story building with ample parking outside. It shares the same parking lot with a Japanese Restaurant, which is amazing too. It’s only a five minute drive to the Wild Pacific Trail. This Trail will BLOW YOU AWAY! First time I saw it, I couldn’t stop smiling. The owners of the hotel were so friendly and helpful, we canceled all our other reservations and stayed here. You will not be disappointed!
First time here under new management and the changes are positive. This is a budget priced no frills motel which doesn't pretend to be anything else. Room was clean, spacious and good for an overnight stay on a budget. Management were friendly. Motel is in a good location. I would definitely stay here again.
Clean and large enough room size but impossible to get ahold of staff after they closed down the main office in the early evening. Needed to ask for additional hangers (room that slept four only had 3), tissues and kettle. Very limited toilet paper as well. No spare pillows (and couldn’t get ahold of staff for one more). This place continues to need a lot of work with sprucing it up. And should be a little more generous with providing basic amenities. I would come back here only in a pinch.
