Our camping spot had a great view, but the customer service leading up to our stay was non existent, I left messages several times without a response. We expected to use the showers, but they were disgusting ! After arrival the check in was absolutely not helpful with our general questions about the campground and nearby amenities. While there were a couple run down picnic tables our site did not have one and the fire pit was a hazard. I now understand why this was the only place available at our time of booking to stay at.

Very disappointed! This "resort" should not be in service! They are focused on their campground and not the motel rooms. They are run down, dirty and not pleasant. Definitely different than what is advertised on the Hotels.com site, and way overpriced! We had to leave one day early due to the conditions. Waste of money! If you have a mobility device the bathroom is not accessible. You cannot even get to it! Kitchenette is run down. $200 per night for a room that is worth $50.

This place is listed as a resort and the picture of the room on their website is mis-leading. After checking in my family and I found this out. The rooms are smelly, the towels are disgusting and brown, the room had bugs all over it, the bed had stains and hairs from previous guests. Also the cancellation policy which is in small print states that they require 30 days notice for a partial refund and at time of check in, they require you to pay for the whole stay upfront. Unheard of from any resort. After checking around with the locals, this place is well known as a dive. STAY CLEAR!!! Staff are un-educated and un-friendly as well. Manager will not address concerns and no refund will be given. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!!

The worst resort on Vancouver Island
We recently had the worst experience of our lives at Island West Resorts in Ucluelet. I would not recommend this resort to anyone. We have stayed there numerous times in the past, but this time different. We reserved 2 sites for ourselves and our adult children for a weekend. When we got there, the sites were covered in broken bottles and nails from pallet fires. The camppsite number posts were rotted away or nowhere to be found , so you had to guess which sites were yours. There were no fire pits , and all the picnic tables were rotted out or destroyed, and the sani dump was roped off. When we complained about these issues to staff and management of the resort they said So what do you want us to do about it. The manager said he was to busy renovating rooms to worry about building picnic tables for the campsite. We asked if they could at least rake the site of glass and nails as we had our 22 month old grandson with us and were afraid of him getting cut. Their response was if they could find someone to do it. Their whole attitude was very demeaning to paying customers. The only reason we didn’t cause a stir was because of our family being with us. They finally raked, but didn’t pick up the glass, then delivered a beat up table 3 or 4 sites away from us. We wrote them a letter of complaint asking for a refund. The manager ignored our first email, then said it was against his policy to refund for a bad experience. No wonder this resort is for sale. We will not camp there ever again unless the new owners start taking pride in offering good service.

My husband and son are avid salmon fisherman. We took are boat up for a few days so they could fish while I tooled around the town. While the location is great not only from a fishing standpoint but just in general, the rooms are not pleasant. The place is run down and depressing!

I'm not sure when the last time any maintenance was done on this place, but it was a LONG time ago. It's falling apart. Peeling paint, a roof that has seen better days and general decay make this a "last resort" not a fishing resort.

My room smelled musty and there was mold in the bathroom. All the metal fittings had rust on them. The bathroom mirror reflective backing was decaying and pulling away from the glass. But worse still, there was long hair (not mine, I might add) on the counter in the bathroom. The sink was stained green. And (yuk!) there was a blood stain in the shower. UTTERLY DISGUSTING! Also, someone had kicked a hole in the bathroom door. It had obviously been that way for some considerable time. All of this just goes to shaw what slobs the owners/management are.

AS soon as I laiy down in the bed, my head started itching. Not sure if there was actually anything going on or I was just creaped-out bu this place and imagined things. In fairness, I had no problems after staying there.

I'd rather stay in a tent. This place should be condemned and is not worth your hard-earned money.

I've put below that this is a budget hotel only to describe it as low quality. At over $170/night, it is anything but "budget"! Outrageous!

AVOID!

Animal droppings under the beds..old food crumbs everywhere...old tooth paste from previous customers on the bathroom counter...towels never changed unless you begged..beds never changed or made...smell of smoke embedded in the room.
Truly not one good thing to say. Would not recommend this property to anyone!!!

My husband and I booked a campsite here over the phone and we were told that we were getting an excellent, large site on the water. To our surprise when we arrived and settled in, we were asked to move over so someone else to share our site. We asked for a better site where we didn't have to be on top of another unit and there wasn't anything better at the resort unless camping in the parking lot is considered better at $32/night. We asked for a refund but were refused! Stay clear! Plus, the photos on their website are quite old and were taken before the resort fell apart. If there was a half point rating then I would give that!

Filthy! Old food under beds. Unidentifiable stuff in the sinks. Constantly had to ask for fresh towels. Beds were never made or changed. Actually choose to sleep on the boat because the rooms were so dirty. Really seemed like management did not care as long as they had your money. Negative stars. Don't go here.

This motel is part of a larger complex that appears to need some repair. The motel portion is not located very near the office/breakfast area and only after being assured that it was quiet and safe did we feel comfortable staying. The room was very clean, quite comfortable, and we had no problems at all. We sat outside on the small veranda enjoying the view for the evening.
