There was an odour in the room which caused my wife to cough. Could have been air freshener, but there was an underlying odour of must.

We stayed in unit #26 and it was great. The unit is suited for a couple or a group of 4. Central to the town of Ucluelet. You can walk to a number of sites or drive. It is quiet at night and gets sun in the day. Will be back.

Not really what I expected. Features a loft yet you can not access the loft, but when you look up there it looks like thats where they put the garbage when people leave. The bed was extremely used and should have been replaced years ago. It was clean and towels were provided along with a well equipped kitchen. I guess if you wanted to come out and party then this would be the spot. You want to impress your wife… this will not do that.

Just a note of caution when staying at the Reef Point Cottages, the owners/managers of this resort are very quick to assign blame (and additional charges) and not at all receptive to discussing the problems. Be prepared for extra charges.

We just returned home from staying in Cabin 25 for the weekend in Ucluelet - this is our third stay at Reef Point Cottages in this same cabin over the past four years, but unfortunately I think it just might be our last.

Pretty much everything the previous reviewer had to say about Cabin 25 was accurate - the TV remote still didn't work, the barbeque lighter didn't work, the fake fireplace/heater thing in the downstairs bedroom area took *literally* 18+ hours to warm the room up to a decent temperature, and the hot tub water's chemicals really irritated my skin and the rim of the "hot" (tepid) tub had a gross discoloured line of scum around the inside.

To add to the disappointments: the kitchen table's legs were so wobbly that I had to tighten them up (by hand! they were *that* loose) so we could use the table to eat on, and the kitchenware is the same old tired stuff that was getting a little worn when we first stayed years ago and is well past its prime these days. The toaster barely worked, the knives were barely sharp enough to chop onions and the blade on one of them plopped right out of the handle, the stove's burner rings were FILTHY underneath, the toilet rocked back and forth on the tile in the bathroom (maybe the bolts were loose?), many corners were full of cobwebs, and the blankets provided on the beds were thinner than Kate Moss on a coke binge.

This place used to be good *and* good value...it was "rustic" but the basics were there, and that's why we've come back three times. Well, it's gone from rustic to just shabby, and the price keeps climbing...we paid over $400 for our two-night stay, and it definitely wasn't worth it.

The place does have pros...the location is good, and if the cabins were actually maintained and had their worn-out items replaced we'd come back. Reef Point management - you'd be smart to drop a couple hundred bucks at Ikea per cabin for some new dish ware, bedding, and small appliances, and actually *clean* these places once in awhile. Until then, we're not likely to return, and that's a shame.

My husband and I took our 11 yr old daughter to Ucluelet in Sept. 2005 and we stayed 5 days at Reef Point Cottages. We thought it was wonderful!

Marnie, the manager, wasn't at all hard to get along with, gave us excellent directions and recommendations on restaurants, etc.

Our cottage was beautifully furnished and had every cooking implement we could have asked for - even a blender! It all appeared to be brand new: guess we were the first to stay in that cottage who actually cooked!

We weren't able to reserve a cottage with a jacuzzi (bummer!) but we did have a large jacuzzi tub in our upstairs bedroom. It was just as nice.

Don't pay more for "a view" because there aren't any. One set of cottages faces the road and the other looks out on a murky backwater area - when not obscured by trees.

But beaches, hiking trails, inlets, and great nature stuff are all just a few minutes' walk away. Although the cottages are quite close together (less than 10 feet, I think), we never had noise problems.

There are resident cats at the property and they are very friendly. Our daughter was thrilled because she misses her animals when we travel. Marnie even gave her a box of treats so she could lure the cats to our cabin!

The living room had a sleeper sofa, TV, satellite TV connection, CD/DVD player, an assortment of games and books. The deck had a small table with a nice gas grill.

Our bathroom had the jacuzzi tub, VERY comfortable bed, and huge bathroom with a tiled shower.

Check out the rental program where you can get free nights depending on how many you stay.

And book WELL IN ADVANCE!! We booked in March for September and almost didn't get in at all. That really tells you what a good value it is and how nice the people are.

We booked last minute, pictures online were cute. We had our 4 year old son with us and felt the studio with loft would be great. Location and cabin layout were great for what we were looking for.

Unfortunately the place was dirty!! We arrived late, straight in and to bed we went but the next morning trying to have breakfast, had to clean the greasy grime off of utensils and glasses. There was dog hair everywhere, my sons toy fell under the bed and came out covered in dog hair and dust, Jaccuzzi tub advertised didn't work, barbeque use advertised was disgusting and didn't have a propane tank on it, I washed jam off of the counter, we didn't have jam with us!

It has been a week since we voiced our concerns at checkout and I also sent an email to make sure the manager or owners received the information and have yet to hear a thing. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommended this place. With so many beautiful place in Ucluelet and Tofino there is no reason to be as unsatisfied as we were.

We stayed here for 2 nights on August 24th & 25th in cottage 25 (2 bedroom) and wish we would have booked elsewhere. We were really excited to be staying in a cabin close to the beach and be able to enjoy the hot tub looking over a forest and relaxing.

Our first take of the cabin wasn't too bad; we thought it seemed nice until we took our shoes off. The floors stuck to your feet like someone had spilt juice all over them and that it they had never been mopped. We did not feel comfortable taking our shoes off and had to wear socks the whole time.

There were several other issues with the cabin as well. The TV remote did not work at all and when our kids are asleep we watch TV to relax. It wasn't to relaxing having to walk to the TV every time you wanted to channel flip. We also tried to use the DVD player but it made such a loud noise it wasn't worth it. With in an hour of arriving we had gone to the front desk to see if they had an instruction manual to help us fix this issue and also to let them know there was a super disgusting flipper in our kitchen that had been melted and had crusted egg all over it. I could have cleaned it but we paid way to much money for me to have to wash someone else’s dirty dishes. The girl at the front told me they would switch it out (which never did happen). I know some of you may suggest to turn the TV off and sit outside and enjoy the view and we would have except one of the lawn chairs was broken (we also let them know of this the 2nd night and it was not replaced). We also did try the hot tub on the first night but it felt so slimy and gross that I just couldn't bring myself to go in it the 2nd night.

The 2nd day we were there we decided that maybe the receptionist had just forgot about our complaints so I went back in the next morning and spoke to another receptionist. I told her that the instruction manual didn't work for the remote and she said she would have someone fix it right away. I also mentioned the disgusting flipper and the broken chair (she said they would replace both of these). I also mentioned the broken blinds (there were 3 of them) just because we didn't want to get charged for them. I also asked if they mopped the floors and she said all the time (although I am a little sceptical on that). Guess What??? Nothing was fixed, cleaned or removed. I also know they were in our cabin because they did replace the towels.

The bedding seemed clean but you could tell it was cheap cotton that had been bleached so much that it had little balls all over and felt very rough on the skin.

The cabin had not been dusted in what looked like years. There were cob webs everywhere.

We were so disappointed with this place. We saved for a really long time as this wasn't cheap. With taxes we paid over $300.00 per night. I could cry over how upsetting this was. I felt like I just threw $600.00 in the garbage.

I think we could have got over some of the issues, a few broken blinds, a few of the dirty dishes (yes there were more) and a bit of the cob webs. But as far as everything else goes I felt this was totally unacceptable. I really would only feel good about this place if I got my money back :(

I wouldn't recommend staying here, there are way nicer places in tofino for similar costs. A group of us came and stayed two days in a few cabins, ours had a cheep rusty bbq and a smelly dirty soft tub. The heater smelled badly of gas when we turned it on, The floors and kitchen table were sticky and half of the things in the kitchen were either missing or in very poor shape. The beds were hard and we were charged an arm and a leg to bring my chihuahua who can hardly walk let alone make a mess. And it was not at all pet friendly. We take our dogs all over the place and for the extra fee (which is always less then here) they usually leave some extra dog towels, blankets or somthing. I wouldn't come back

We were led to believe that this place was located on the water. Well, if you call a stream running behind the cottage "water", I guess it is... From the moment of arrival, things started to go downhill and when we left, we couldn't get out of there quick enough. I needed WiFi capability while I was there, a point that I stressed a couple of times during the process of making our reservations. When we arrived around 6pm and checked in, I never thought to ask about the WiFi and assumed, incorrectly so, that as with every other hotel we stayed at along the way, the information would be in the room/cottage. WRONG. At 6:30pm, after looking high and low for this information, I picked up my cell phone (no phones in the cottages) and called the main number, only to reach a VM, advising that their hours of business were 7am to 7pm (now 6:35pm) and that I should leave a message or call another number. I chose to call the other number as I really needed a WiFi connection. The lady who answered, treated my call as an infringement on her personal life and told me that if she had to come back to the resort, it would take her over an hour (where did she live? Port Alberni?) She moaned and complained and basically told me that it was my fault that I didn't have the information as I "should have asked for it". In frustration, I decided to drop it and she promised that she would deliver the information to me at 8am the next morning. She couldn't even give me the PIN over the phone. The next morning, at 9am, still no information, I called again. 30 minutes later, a young girl arrived with a piece of paper, giving the information that I required. I fired up my laptop and lo and behold, there was no signal coming from this supposed WiFi, which I was later told, was located in the cottage next door to ours. i could however pick up 3 other establishments' WiFi signal. I called the front desk again, only to be told that I would have to wait until 11am as they couldn't just "knock on the door of the cabin" and check to see if the people had pulled the plug out on the modem. I informed them that the people next door had left over an hour before, to no avail. As I wasn't prepared to sit around and waste half the day, I had to give up on connecting to the outside world. When we returned from Tofino that evening (6:00pm), the office was once again shut down (7pm closing announced) and after calling the same complaining woman, was told that there was nothing that they could do and if I wanted to complain to someone, I should complain to Telus, as they had done everything Telus had told them to do. There was still no signal coming, even though the modem was less than 20' away in the next cabin. At this point, I gave up and took my laptop to a restaurant, where I was able to connect to the outside world and get my work done. The cottage itself was a disgrace. The floors obviously hadn't been washed in weeks. There was sand and grit all over the place, so we swept the floors and actually cleaned the tiled kitchen/bathroom area on the main floor. The tiles were broken and it was dangerous to walk around in your bare feet. When i checked out the next morning, I told the woman in the office how displeased I was with my stay and she basically shrugged her shoulders and told me that she couldn't care less. When I told her that I would be reporting it on TripAdvisor, she said that she couldn't care less as there were thousands of other people who would come and stay and wouldn't even see my review. That may be so, but I also run a travel blog and will be posting my report on Twitter and Facebook. There are many places to stay in Ucluelet and Tofino, don't make a mistake and book this place...

If you are traveling with a pet I strongly advise that you avoid this place.

I would like to echo the other reviewers who have highlighted that this place is neglected and there is no privacy in any of the units. We had to keep our blinds shut then entire time because the cabins are so tightly packed on the property and there is nothing between to cabins to provide privacy (especially with our place being a studio). Even if we wanted to spend time on the porch, we couldn’t because both of the lounge chairs were broken. Overall the cabin was OK but definitely not worth the price. What made our experience so terrible was the appalling way we were treated. After we were told that another guest had complained that our dog had relieved himself on the property (which we immediately cleaned up), we had to take our dog off the property to do so for the rest of the trip. Upon checkout we were singled out and told that we had not cleaned up after our dog for the whole stay and that we had to go clean up all around our cabin or we would be charged for cleanup. It’s unfortunate that other pet owners had not cleaned up their dog’s messes and now we were forced to clean them up! So our last activity on the property was cleaning up [--] that had clearly been there for a while. Great way to end our end stay!

We frequently travel with our dog and have never had any issues. We definitely will not be returning.
