My partner and I stayed only one night but we wish we could've stayed longer! Sherlyn was communicative and warm, had great suggestions for places to eat and graciously lent us a Sandbanks park pass and beach umbrella. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our room; it was quiet and clean, had AC and the queen mattress was like sleeping on a cloud. The location is perfect for exploring Prince Edward County. Would highly recommend. Sherlyn, thanks for being a great host - we will definitely be back!

Here is the sort story of my review, it was perfect!

And here are my details

From the first moment I contacted Sherlyn to book our stay, until we pulled out of her driveway, everything was perfect. She is a very gracious host and thinks of everything. On the morning before our arrival, she texted details for our stay. She offers ( as of summer 2022) use of pass for Sandbanks park and sent us pass details.
We finally arrived to her home and immediately were made to fell welcome. Her home is well appointed, beautifully decorated and clean. Our room, on top floor, was clean, private, quiet, comfortable and just lovely. Her home is a comfortable walking distance to downtown Picton so we could enjoy a drink on Sherylyn patio and then walk downtown for dinner

Next morning, I woke up to delicious smells of breakfast wafting upstairs Beautiful hot breakfast in lovely surroundings to get us started on our day. Sherlyn and her husband David are so lovely, pleasant company and great to have a pleasant conversation. My only complaint could be that I so enjoyed talking to them, I didn’t get out the door early morning to continue our wine touring
Sherlyn, is really a wonderful host, in a perfect
Home. If you choose to stay with her, you will not be disappointed. Except when you wished you’d booked for a longer stay
I have nothing but good things to say about our stay in Sleep Hallowell
It was everything I could wish for

Sherlyn has perfected the art of running a traditional and classic bed and breakfast. It is her home and she pulls out all the stops to make sure that guests feel at home. She provides all the modern conveniences combined with gorgeous carefully chosen antiques. The swimming pool and the flower gardens are great for enjoying warm summer days. The breakfasts are varied, delicious and beautifully presented.
Thank you, Sherlyn, for a truly memorable stay at your friendly home.........

If you want to be close to downtown Picton and within 20 minutes of most of the vineyards, then this is the place for you. The accommodations were great! We had the large, second storey room with an ensuite. The room was full of character because of all the antique décor and the king bed was very comfortable.

In the evenings, we enjoyed great conversations with David and Sherlyn, outside, at one of the various sitting areas. They had a fire pit going one night and we were surrounded by numerous plants and a very large apple tree.

Each morning, we started our day with being served a wonderful, hardy breakfast. Sherlyn and David pay close attention to detail, which made our stay and my birthday, very special. We originally planned to stay only one night, but since we enjoyed ourselves so much, we decided to stay a second night. If it had not been for a prior commitment, we probably would have stayed a third night!

You won’t be disappointed staying with Sherlyn and David.

We have stayed at Sleepy Hallowell Bed and Breakfast a couple of times over the years while our home had some renovations done, and we ALWAYS send family there who visit us from out of town. It is not because it is conveniently located right nexr door to us, but because the mother and son team who run it are beautiful and kind people. They offer friendly and warm hospitality. The food is always excellent, and ample, the beds are comfy and the rooms are clean. Sherlyn has been doing this since 2000, and in this time frame we have NEVER heard any loud music being played during either the daytime or night time. We occassionally hear the laughter of her family and guests coming from the patio, deck, pool, or backyard while people are socializing, swimming or playing a sport of some sort, but it is a respectable noise that we hear. You can certainly feel the love and warmth coming from her home. Any one who complains about this establishment is clearly not someone who has stayed there

My husband and I stayed here last weekend with another couple. We had the small bedroom with a shared bathroom. The room is small but functional (we just needed a place to sleep!) It has air conditioning which is nice on those hot summer nights. It was very quiet and we both had a restful sleep. The room and bathroom were clean and well decorated. The location of the BnB itself is great - you can walk down Picton Main Street very easily from there, and it's also just a short (10 min) drive to Sandbanks. The owner kindly loaned us a Sandbanks pass (thus saving us almost 20 bucks to get into the park). The breakfast was yummy and served in a beautiful dining room. The owner was lovely and very accommodating to us - this was a very pleasant stay and we will definitely stay here next time we visit Prince Edward County. Highly recommended!

We thank you for sharing your review with others. The Provincial Park Pass to Sandbanks is worth its weight in gold, and is well used by our guests! We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The room you had is definitely a small one, not one we usually give away. It was great that you travelled with another couple. Maybe next time, you can flip a coin for the bigger room! LOL. Thanks again for coming, and we look forward to your return! Kind regards.

This was our 3rd stay at Sleepy Hallowell and we've enjoyed it every time. The home is a lovely old home and very cosy. Our room was great - the bed is so comfortable and we had a fantastic sleep. Sherlyn is a wonderful host and very friendly. She is the right mix of attentive host who also lets you do your own thing - she was even kind enough to let us use the pool quite late at night (the pool is definitely another bonus for us!). Our breakfast was absolutely delicious and Sherlyn accomodated both myself (vegetarian) and my partner (non-vegetarian).

We find that a lot of the B&Bs in Picton can be quite pricey, so for us the price is very reasonable with the added bonus that you get to use the Sandbanks pass (otherwise you have to pay to get into the park). We sat outside on a warm summer's evening and sipped sangria in the lovely garden, ahhh so relaxing...

Picton and the surrounding area is very pretty with gentle rolling hills and farms. It's a great weekend getaway. Sleepy Hallowell's location is great as you are just a short drive from Sandbanks and wineries but you are within walking distance of Picton's main street and go out for a bite to eat (we always go to the Acoustic Grill, a great little pub - they had yummy sweet potato poutine). We didn't want to leave!

I had a great time! The room was beautiful and spacious. The a/c was provided at our personalized temp and definitely needed. The breakfast was sumptuous and again personalized for what time we requested. I loved the variety! The tourtiere was delicious with the chutney. The hosts were lovely. I don't think I have a remotely negative thing to say. I saw the negative reviews and I can't believe it was the same place. You need to keep in mind this not a cookie cutter 5 star chain hotel...It is the sweetest B & B!

The location is within easy walking distance to town with restaurants, bistros and the movie theatre. The location is also a quick and easy drive to Sandbanks. We received a pass to the park which saved us $16/day. One day the beach was closed as it was the busiest weekend of the year. Not to fear - the other 2 beaches were open and not nearly as busy as we thought it would be. There are 2 taxis if you want to go to the pub - Barley room is our favourite ($7/one way which was worth it to have a bevy safely).

They have a pool which would be quite handy if we actually had the time to use. It rained one day and we still found plenty to do. Keep in mind that the county needs sunshine and rain too! If you want to stay in there is a comfy front deck as well as books and magazines to read. Make sure to book a wine tour and see the amazing county.

There is a separate eating area for breakfast as well as separate lounge area. There was a bottle of wine in the room upon arrival as well as gorgeous fresh flowers. We had a separate bathroom which is worth the price. The tub was deep, no issues with the shower and Sherlyn provided several toiletries and even bath bombs if wanted.

Overall was very pleased for our ladies weekend. The value is incredible! I will definitely stay there again.

Thanks Sherlyn!

Thank you for making Sleepy Hallowell Bed and Breakfast your, "Home away from home". You are truly patrons that appreciate the County, and planned a trip that did not just constitute a day at the beach. You included a winery tour , which was conducive to the wet weather at the time of your stay. We try to promote seasonal flowers, fruits and vegetables. Any guests are welcome to reap the harvest of our gardens...PLEASE! Tomatoes are in abundance right now! We appreciate that you were both respectful guests, and look forward to seeing you again.
