I can't say enough positive things about our stay at The June Motel. My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful time over the two nights we stayed there. The room was beautiful and so cozy! The June staff stocked our fridge with wine and snacks before we arrived which was such a nice touch! The view from our room was far better than I had realized, we had a great view of the lake so sitting out on our little balcony at night was such a nice experience. The fire pit and outdoor bar were great, everything was really COVID friendly, we felt so comfortable and relaxed throughout our whole stay. On Friday evening the staff even dropped a complimentary gift basket off at our door full of really thoughtful pieces which was a lovely surprise. The room was really quiet and everything from the music playing when you arrive, to the amazing soaps in the bathroom, was so well thought out. I would absolutely recommend The June Motel if you're travelling to Picton! I really appreciated their blog and suggestions for activities and places to eat, it made planning our trip so simple so I'd definitely recommend checking that out as well! We'll absolutely be back soon, our trip was short but the service was fantastic, it ended up being our favourite trip we've taken!

Hi Alex, What a lovely review! I'm so happy that you were here on a Friday and got to experience our complimentary mini bar. We're so obsessed with all of the brands we partnered with and I hope you loved the products as much as we do! I'm also so pleased to read that you felt safe here during your stay. It's been a difficult year for all of us, but we are so grateful that we can provide guests with a safe place to get away from it all! We really appreciate the recommendation and hope that you are able to make it back here sometime soon. We'll have the rosé chilling. Cheers, The June

Firstly I need to confess that if not for COVID-19, I wouldn’t even have considered a vacation in Canada. Prince Edward County was an unknown to me and my only regret is I didn’t discover it earlier.
Our base for this adventure was The June Motel, set roadside with a beautiful water view about 5 minutes from downtown Picton.
The Motel has been totally revamped and refurbished to a high standard, forget all those prior experiences of dated dusty roadside stops that you only stayed in because A) The weather made travel impossible. B) It was Cheap. C) Yeah it was Cheap.
The June is a hip, funky and trendy boutique hotel hidden under a motel facade. High end toiletries, not itty bitty travel size, we are talking full sized artisan toiletries, extremely comfortable beds, a spacious mini fridge already boasting a couple of glasses of Rose Wine to kick off your stay and an extremely high level of cleanliness and safety protocols in place.
In the evenings they have a really cute patio area where you can relax and enjoy a selection of canned wines, beers, ciders and waters.
If you happen to arrive on a Friday you have the added bonus of their Friday Treat Basket, loaded with all kinds of items they themselves love and wish to share.
I just discovered PEC but I will definitely be back and soon.

Hello, What a lovely review! A small positive to this horrible year is that we're all being given the opportunity to discover hidden gems in Canada, and I'm so happy that you discovered Prince Edward County. Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us while you were here! Glad you enjoyed our boutique amenities from Sunday's Company and how lucky that you arrived on a Friday and got to experience our mini bar! Hope we get to host you again in the future. Cheers, Your friends at The June

Recently stayed at the June motel for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. Location is great about 5 min drive from picton main st. We stayed on the top floor and had a cute little balcony overlooking the lake from a far. Everything is so aesthetically pleasing, it’s like every Instagram influencers dream come to life. You can tell ever detail of the hotel/room was thought out of very thoroughly. They had a little area up on a hill called the “bohemian forest” with picnic tables and another great view of the lake from a far. A yoga/ workout area even further up on the hill which was shaded so you weren’t burning from the sun. You were able to rent out bikes for a 2hr period for FREE which we really enjoyed. The room itself was clean. The products they provide for you were very good quality and I think were made locally and could be purchased at the hotel shop. Check in and check out was contactless and all types of communication were through text. The staff at the lobby were very friendly and helpful. The only thing that bothered us was the food situation. There are little snacks/ bites that are available for purchase but I definitely recommend bringing your own stuff because everything seems to close really early in town. They do have a mini fridge in the room so you can keep your drinks and other snacks cool. Would definitely recommend staying here, especially for a girls weekend/ bachelorette.

If youre looking for a cute spot with for a couple with instagrammable opportunities then this is a great place. For a group of 4 girls, especially during covid 19, this is definitely not the place. It is a bit overrated and marketed very well on social media. Starting with the price, it is way too expensive for what is not provided during covid. They should be altering their prices in half for half the services. To begin, an unpersonalized check in/check out. Which is convenient if you appeal to texting but we would have liked to ask questions in person. The lobby/lobby bar was completely closed and not available due to covid 19. I thought that was a big part of the aesthetic of the hotel which was unavailable. The back area looked nice but we didnt use it.
Room
On a positive, the rooms were cutely decorated and the soaps and stuff they provided were very high end and nice. However the floors were sunken in in room 1 and the walls were paper thin. For 4 adult women they gave us 2 DOUBLE beds. They were comfy and linen was nice but for the price and to say you accommodate 4 people.. it’s more like 2 adults and 2 children. I think they should invest in making the couch a pull out because it was a tight squeeze. They arent servicing your room at all during your stay so you have to text them for new towels and stuff which they did bring in a timely manner. They arent providing breakfast or even COFFEE at all at the hotel. You have to drive into downtown picton to get a free coffee. They did provide us with 4 wine cans in the fridge which was thoughtful. The fireplace area is open but suuuper small, for a group of 4 it was hard to ever find a spot at the fire because of distancing rules. You arent allowed your own snacks or drinks so we just left after a short time.
Location
It is perched on a hill overlooking the water - the second floor looked like better views but it was beautiful. Unfortunately you cant walk down to the water because its private property. It is very far from wineries - you do need to hire a driver or DD if you are going. Its close to picton about 5 mins.

Hi there, I'm sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations during your stay with us this year. As a small business, we appreciate feedback and always take it to heart. We've had to make some very difficult decisions this year during the pandemic in order to prioritise health & safety. Part of this included a temporary closure of our Lobby Bar and removing coffee machines from the rooms. I do understand that this is not the experience that we're all used to, but we are greatly limited in what we can continue to provide while still also ensuring that the safety of our staff and guests is prioritised. We've also continued to keep our rates, which are typical for a popular tourist destination, in line with other local accommodations. We have renovations planned for the winter months which will address some of your concerns within your room and I'd love it if you would choose to stay with us again, hopefully in a newly renovated room! You should definitely check out our Bohemian Forest if you do make it back. It's absolutely stunning during sunsets! Cheers, The June

We stayed two nights here. The room was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The staff have a good system for ensuring guests have all of the information they need via text. Contactless check-in and check-out was seamless. The patio was very cute and comfortable. Highly recommended.

We booked for one night. Their policy is a 2 night minimum but there was an isolated night available. For this one night you get to pay a premium of about $100 more than the listed rate. With the pandemic we were desperate for a break so we didn't fuss. The description of the motel made it sound fun so we booked. However, when you arrive, it is an automatic checkin like an AirBnB. We didn't see a single employee the entire visit. The room is a good size but the beds and pillows are soft and don't have much support. The location is NOT close to downtown. It is a good hike to the centre of town. The bathroom was not clean with hair on the floor and in the sink. The bathroom is tiny. Think of an airplane. Anyway, it does live up to it's self-description as a motel. That's what they advertise and that is what they are.

Hi Raj, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, it's truly appreciated. We are always looking to evolve and improve the guest experience, so we truly value your feedback. We've had to make the difficult decision to operate our check-in process as contactless to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission in order to protect all of our guests and employees. Our lobby is open and we're sorry that we missed connecting with you during your stay. We're sorry to read that your room did not meet our usual cleanliness standard. We have reviewed our inspection process with our team, as cleanliness at The June is a top priority and of upmost importance to us. We hope to welcome you back to The June again another time so that you can have the full guest experience we know we can deliver. Cheers, Your friends at The June

We took a mini vacation and travelled to PEC for a couple of nights during COVID. I was very happy with their protocols, including contact free check-in. Instead of coffee makers in the room, they partnered with a local coffee shop to provide free drinks which was nice. Our room was very large with a seated area and two beds in separate rooms. Well thought out counter top and large drawers rather than a dresser. Small balcony with chairs overlooking the lake would be nice in the summer. No indoor bar service at the moment, but a fire pit and lounge chairs/couches with grateful blankets. Also have a smoking/picnic area up the hill behind the hotel which I can see would be handy for take-out, picnics, or just chilling in the hammocks. Lovely bath products, available for purchase.

I have been trying to come for YEARS with GF's, booked a stay by myself to have a mini solo vacation while working remotely. Firstly, the location was fantastic. I loved running along the road with lake sights each day. Very clean, comfortable bed. Contactless check-in served my paranoia self well. TY! My expectations were high however and felt like the marketing was a little bit smoke in mirrors. The beautiful wallpaper in all the photos was 1/3 of the room. (Room 3 ) The rest of the room reminded me of every unexciting motel I ever stayed in. Having spent 3 days, I wish there were sheers on windows for privacy. Being on ground floor you either have it open for all to see or closed and really feeling dark and stuck. Because I was alone, a deadbolt lock would have been appreciated as added security. I enjoyed my time away but it did not meet expectations from the marketing perceived and the price I paid.

I have never stayed at a motel and this one was free as my sister couldn't go. We usually do very high end hotels and figured why not just go? It's a motel on the side of the road with no waterfront but you get a bit of a view. The room has all of the amenities you need and even throw in a sound machine which is handy. You get a little balcony to sit on. Their website shows a pool but there is no pool there so if you are going to Picton you won't find anywhere to swim unless you book the Sandbanks or drive out to the bird reserve and crawl down some rocks to get into the water. Service was excellent in covid. There is little on offer other than a few snacks and they gave us a couple of cans of rose.

Stayed here the first week of the opening, Sunday to Tuesday, and had a lovely time. The rooms are very cozy and spacious, the hammock is a really great touch, and it's great that all bathroom products are sustainably refilled. All rooms look out on the yard so there are no bad views. Everything is beautifully decorated and the staff are very helpful, especially at the Heydays restaurant. Looking forward to coming back.
