Detailed Reviews
First time in Picton and PEC. The Picton Harbour Inn has a great location, walking distance to Main street. Beautiful view of the harbour from the room, and a nice balcony to sit out. The check in was contactless, with a lockbox code being emailed beforehand. The rooms are accessible from outside, so no hallways/elevators to worry about. We had a room with two doubles facing the harbour, on the second floor. The room was a little smaller than pictured, but more than enough space. Parking is onsite. There was some noise transference from the room above, it sounded like someone was running laps (probably kids), lots of stomping. This wasn't too bad though. We had an interconnecting room, so I was a little concerned about noise from next door as we have had issues at other hotels, but it wasn't much of a problem. The bathroom is a little small but well stocked, could maybe use some fresh caulking. There were some hairs on the comfortable as well, but otherwise everything was quite clean. The beds were very comfortable. AC worked well also. There was an issue with the wifi (it seemed to be down the night/day we were there), and I didn't get the best cell reception so that was a bit inconvenient but not the end of the world. Lots to do nearby, and a nice little patio restaurant facing the harbour - we unfortunately didn't get to try it but will next time. We'll definitely be back again, this is a nice little gem of an inn for trips to PEC!

This is the second time we have chosen here to celebrate an anniversary. The rooms are immaculate, the employees are super friendly and accommodating. Especially during these difficult times. We noticed how well they would apply the safety rules regarding keeping everyone safe. Every time anything was touched they would wipe it down with disinfectant, which put our minds at ease. They are in the process of building a beautiful patio setting by the water. The food at their Lighthouse restaurant is also great. The fish and chips are the best!!!!
Although they supply 2 outside chairs, we took a small table to use outside.

Clean, large bedroom with ample room and storage. Washroom was big and well laid out. Nice balcony with a view of the harbour. Gorgeous setting. No elevator and if you aren't early enough to get a parking spot at the front, it is a long way to lug your belongs esp to the top floor. Very accommodating staff. No room cleaning, garbage removal, ice, replenishment of towels or any room services which is reasonable given the pandemic. No sign in the room to indicate this lack of service (was on the web site to be fair, but there should be something in the room itself). Only one side of the bedroom is lit, leaving the other 1/2 of the room dark, impossible to see the coffee maker controls, etc. Stain on the carpet, curtains had damage. Fridge froze boiled eggs and oranges and no temp control. Seems expensive but Picton is popular and they seem to be able to charge the rates they do as they were full mid-week. Motel/service/room could use some TLC.

Fantastic view!!! Nice staff, clean room, bathroom could do with an update but it was fine. Good sized balcony facing the view, comfy bed, free parking and very Covid safe. They give you a code for the lockbox - you enter the room from the outside stairs, (no need to go inside to reception).
The room key is inside the lockbox and you are in your room without having to meet anyone.
The only downer was they opened their outdoor patio picnic tables the night before we left. We decided to get breakfast there the morning of check out (same idea - no need to go inside, call them to say you are leaving and leave the key in the room) but my goodness was it slow. It was good food but we waited 1.5 hrs to be served with food from sitting down. I hope this is just because it was a whole new thing for them. It felt a real shame, as the line up to get a table was very long and you could see people drift off after a while, probably sick of waiting. We got there early so no line, but I hate to see a business do itself out of business especially after Covid.
The actual hotel/motel was excellent for the price though.

Despite all the positive reviews, we found ourselves in a cheap motel room overlooking a parking lot for $300 (inc taxes). This is a $125 room at best. The dining room (restaurant), main washrooms, reception, etc was of equal calibre - that of a cheap motel (not hotel). This is Prince Edward County after all, which is pricey. Poor value for money overall, typical of the region.

Room was spotless - Beds were comfortable- Great shower- great harbour view! What more could you ask for! Our check in was completed by email with codes for room key holders supplied through the email as well. Super easy and no contact what so ever. It looked like they checked in rooms in a staggered timely way. Which means you did not run into other people at the time you were checking into your room. Well organized! Thanks!!

Picton Harbour Inn was an oasis of calm on the shores of Lake Ontario. When we first arrived we were a little concerned about noise from the busy road out front but once inside our upper story room with balcony overlooking the lake we had a lovely peaceful stay. The rooms were basically furnished but everything was very good quality and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was immaculately clean and a great place for a relaxing stopover if exploring Prince Edward County. The only drawback was very limited walking trails directly from the hotel but not exactly a major problem. We also had breakfast at the restaurant attached to the hotel which was absolutely superb!

Several years ago we stayed at the Picton Harbour Inn and said "never again". The room was old and smelled & was in desperate need of a reno! Well it has now been reno'd so we thought we'd give it another try. We were not disappointed & enjoyed our stay! It is perfectly located along the harbour and within walking distance of all the restaurants downtown Picton has to offer. The contact-less check-in was a breeze and check-out was just as easy. A special mention to the person who took my booking over the phone. She was so sweet & was as friendly and helpful as could be. Will return here again!

This is a motel on a busy road. It appears that some reviews (mentioning wonderful views of the harbour) were for the rooms on the opposite side of where we were. Contrary to one review on this site, not all rooms have a view of the harbour. Some have a view of a noisy street. We had to take our luggage up on metal stairs outside (no elevator). Cleanliness is so-so - furniture has water marks, windows were dirty, very basic. I have to say that the reception staff are awesome. They responded quickly and politely.

Stayed at the pebble beach location. Great pool, great views on lake Ontario and close to Sandbanks Provincial Park. Entire experience was ruined by lots of dogs running everywhere and kids as young as 6 or 7 driving around in golf carts...so dangerous. If the owners would enforce the rules could have been a great experience. I had a great view of the lake feom my site which was ruined by all the trucks Parker on the grass right in front of my site...so I had a great view of a GMC most days. There are better campgrounds in the area that are as nice and close to Sandbanks and more diligently enforce the rules.

Response from Scott Walcott, Owner at Picton Harbour Inn
Responded Jul 24, 2020
Hi there! We are very sorry to hear about your disappointing stay while you were here in Edward County. However, after reading your review, I realize that you actually did not stay at Picton Harbour Inn, but rather at a campground here in the county. (We don’t have a pebble beach location, golf carts on site, etc etc). :-) In the future, we would love to host you at Picton Harbour Inn the next time you are in the County. 😀 - Sophie

As others noted, the wineries are located throughout Prince Edward County. Many of them are in the west end of the county, approximately 30 minutes from Picton Harbour Inn. Don't forget about County Cider, the sparkling wine at Hinterland, the breweries and Kinsip distillery at 66 Gilead.
