A very busy spot. If you like alot of people around then this village is for you. Average cottages. Nothing fancy. Access to the beach and a great sunset.

Whale cove cottages .Shall we just concentrate toward you, the business owner? Being in the hospitality business and business owner’s for 20 years. We must say. Whale cove cottages has ALOT of potential . Beautiful location. Cottages are very dated, but as business owner’s we only invest revenue into what we feel is successful. Our suggestion to “YOU” the owner of this estate. You need to invest your budget in to your property to bring your revenue to the triple digits. We’re making a good suggestion to you. You have a gold mine, and you don’t obviously realize it. Hands down the most beautiful location on the island we have endured. We are upscale business owners whom seek the Island out. Lantern Hill and Hollow. Coastal Retreat. Keltic Lodge. McIntyre’s Cottages.Silver Dart Lodge. Inverness Cottages( MacLeod). They are your competition. They are beautiful straight from their property to their water views with a 5 star rating. We stayed at all, and they are just a few to name the least. Your Cabins need new furniture and your basic up-keep so to speak. Paint the walls. Change the flooring. Update the interior/ exterior decor. Invest in quantity not quality and you will, or could have that property paid off in one season (6 months). You have to come to the realization that you’re letting a beautiful location run “DOWN” into the ocean beside you. Stop concentrating “Solely” on your up-scale “ RESORT’S” and invest some of that revenue into what you can call a dream come true!!!!!! ( Whalecove Cottages). You will and can succeed with the same clientele you have at your other locations at whalecove “when” you do invest your revenue toward a luxury that you are obviously unaware of. Trust us, if you update those cottages you would have your pocket full in one season and that’s including your renovation cost’s. We sat on your property for only a few hours and had it figured out to what we would do with your estate. WAKE UP!!!!!. If you ever want to sell the property let us know. We would purchase it in a heart beat, and show you just how much it’s really worth!! SO, SO much potential. More so than many of the other resorts you’re investing in to. Most reviews on here are directed toward and for all “US” travellers. We ourselves are directing this review toward “YOU” the business owner..Let’s talk business. From one business owner to another..Cheers to a drink over it!!!!

This is not our first stay at the cottages, we stay in this area for the salmon fishing. My husband goes salmon fishing and while he is there I like to hang out at these cottages because of the proximity to the beach. ( directly across the road) This visit was still during lobster season so we watched the fishing boats hauling pots each morning from our deck. I also spent time hanging out at the beach with a good book a great way to relax and unwind. Those are the reasons I stay at the Whale cove cottages, plus the staff are the nicest girls you will meet anywhere. But the cottages are in bad need of updates, old rugs, old furniture(70's) We stayed four nights and I watched lots of people come only to walk into their cottage turn around and walk out. If you cant rough it a bit this place is not for you. But that being said, it is the most beautiful place to watch a sunset, lay on a beach or watch boats go by. The reason we keep coming back despite the very rustic cabins.

I did stay at this accommodations for one night and I have to say while the view is breathtakingly beautiful the cottage has a lot to desired. Now I don't mind rustic and yes we had everything need in the cottage. The bedroom carpet was disgusting. Meaning the place was not full at all, I am surprised we were put in a cottage with a moldy carpet... We were on our way to a hospital appointment for tests the next morning and I certainly didn't want my daughter sleeping in that room. We did pull out the couch and we got some sleep there so we could make our early morning appointment other than that we would not have slept there. I tried to contact the place by email before writing this review a couple of times but didn't get any response at all. Not happy!

Response from The NEW Whale Cove Owners, Owner at Whale Cove Beach Resort
Responded Dec 30, 2023
Hello Jensta96, As the NEW owner of the resort, we are very sorry to hear about your stay. Future guests will never have this kind of experience. We are carefully reading every review, taking notes and learning from each and every past visitor just what needs to be done. We have just begun extensive renovations (including removal of carpeting) and, hope to see you again. The cabins will be completely updated with a fresh beach aesthetic, super comfortable beds, luxurious linens, and some will have an outdoor deck to take in that incredible sunset and beach VIEW. We also have a partnership with The Dancing Goat Cafe. Guests will now be able to enjoy the best coffee (and muffins) on the island right here at the NEW Whale Cove resort! Stay tuned via Facebook or Tik Tok (which will be up and running in a about a week. If you were added to the Whale Cove mail list…watch for a special promo with our new launch!

Been going here since 1986. Place is now a dive. Owner too cheap to renovate but we made it work because the beach is across the road. Now under new owners, prices are absolutely ridiculous. Will never afford to stay there again. They advertise wifi but it doesn’t work. They alway loose water or power. Save your time and look elsewhere

Clever photography makes it seem like the cabins are a lot closer to the water than they are.
The cabin we stayed in would be better described as “dated” or “shoddy”, rather than the advertised “rustic”. It was clean, but the smell of cleaning product was over-powering.
In actuality, the canteen advertised as offering “fresh baked goods” had a few dusty items on the shelf, that’s all – and we could not find a “coffee shop with patio” (which sounds nice).

When I first laid eyes on the place I was like Wow! What an unbearable, repulsive, depressive replica of a WW2 prison camp. This place is so bad the wild animals don't even want to stay in this dump.Talk about overpriced! I hated this place, we spent all night laughing about the absurdity of this beach port-a-potty as I'm sure they were laughing all the way to the bank. The only positive thing was the view of the ocean obstructed by the grave yard across the highway. The worst thing of all is that the owner also owns the sunset resort and spa down the road , which is gorgeous and only $30 more a night. Shame on this guy, I hope it burns to the ground and he can build something better for $200 a night.

What a dump! There was a musty smell upon entrance in the cottage, the door to the "master" bdrm was punched in, there was a questionable stain on the linoleum flooring in the entrance, the television was TINY and didn't even work for us, it wasn't very clean, etc, etc... We were charged $175 (taxes in) for one night for a two bdrm. Here's the kicker...the same guy owns Island Sunset Resort about a 5 minute drive up the road, and those cottages are modern and beautiful, also have a stunning view and they charge $205 (taxes in) a night. Not sure how he justifies charging $30 dollars less of that garbage...the ONLY nice thing about these accommodations is the view...and guess what? That's free! Do yourself a favour, spend the extra $30 bucks and go to the Island Sunset Resort instead.

This is my first review ever but I was compelled to warn others about how horrible this place is. We booked the Whale Cove Summer Village through a visitor center because they have an easy centralized booking system in Canada. Sadly, we had not done our homework and read previous reviews. The only positive is that the view is beautiful. Other than that, stay away from this place. The carpet was damaged, stained and smelled terribly. The sofa (one of the only places to sit) was ripped and looked as if it had come off the street. The bathroom was not clean at all with hair on the floor and in the drain. It looked as if there had been no housekeeping service at all. They claimed they had wifi but when we got there it was not working. The laundry room also had broken machines. We were not expecting a luxury accommodation but this was one of the worst experiences ever. You are better off sleeping on the side of the road.
