Chimney Corner is located in the beautiful Margaree River region of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Our site is situated on the Gulf of St.Lawrence and provides twenty-five acres of woodland and private beach for those who wish to escape the world of commercialism and enjoy a quiet, secluded, ocean setting. The property lends itself to reflection and getting in touch with yourself: walking down the birch lined driveway, sitting on a cliff deck overlooking the Gulf, or going to the beach and counting that seventh wave. Enjoy the fresh air, the birds calling, a clear night sky, a stroll to the beach to collect driftwood and search for fossils, along with an early morning coffee or late evening wine on the decks. The cottages provide privacy and tranquility while perched at the edge of fifty foot cliffs. The stressed-out and burnt-out can recharge, and the vacationer can just vegetate. Three-days in a cottage will give you a “taste,” but it takes a minimum of a week to “savour” Cape Breton.

Minutes from Inverness this little gem is a perfect location to explore the Cape Breton highlands, enjoy a round of golf or cruise the Cabot trail. Private beach, breathtaking views clean, bright and spacious cottages. Private grounds filled with mature tres offer privacy and natural feel. Highly recommend.

We booked the Octagon Cottage for 3 nights the beginning of August and wished we had booked it longer. The cottage was built by the owner and had everything we needed inside and out. It is on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence and it was so relaxing being there. The whole area (Margaree Valley) is like going back 30 years--nothing is built up. It is a convenient location for whale watching, golf, hiking in Cape Breton National Park, Malbou etc. If you want to get away from it all, enjoy nature, hiking, and beautiful views...go here! You won't regret it! The owners are so welcoming!

My husband and I have just returned from our 1 week stay at chimney corner cottages. It was beautiful, private and relaxing. We stayed in the Cliff cottage, which was well equipped with everything you would need. The sunset views were amazing! We day tripped everyday and this place was central to everything. The host Bob and Jan are very nice folks. They even stocked our cabin with a welcoming bottle of wine for a personal welcoming touch. THIS place is a hidden gem off the Cabot trail !

My husband and I both agreed this was the best vacation we had ever experienced. The Wheelers thought of every way possible to make our stay at The Octagon Cottage perfect! No detail was too small from the well appointed kitchen and flower boxes on the deck to fuzzy robes waiting for us in the bedroom wardrobe! The cottage itself is a work of art designed, built and decorated by the owners. The location of The Octagon Cottage is totally private with the most breathtaking views imaginable. We can't wait for our return visit next year.

Well, we loved our stay here in 2015 so much, we decided to stay at Chimney Corner Cottages again this year, 2017, We stayed a week near the end of July at the Octagon Cottage, our favourite. It was warmer and we enjoyed the porch and deck by the cliff more this year. Again, if you want quiet, and relaxation, this is the place. What a peaceful stay we had. Out of all the cottages we've researched to rent by the ocean on Cape Breton Island, this place is the best. The sunsets are just beautiful. It's quiet, it's in a great location.....access to the Cabot Trail and the Ceilidh Trail. And of course Jan, Bob, and family are wonderful hosts. Thank you very much, we'll definitely be back again.

We traveled extensively through maritime Canada and the eastern U.S. in June and early July 2017. Privacy, seclusion and serenity were are goals.....and Chimney corner was our favorite. Walt Whitman once wrote " Spontaneous me nature"...He must have traveled there also. Bob and his family were the perfect hosts. We strongly recommend ! John & Pranom

We stayed in the Studio Cottage for 2 days . It was beautiful inside and out. We had a great view of the ocean from our deck. The most amazing and beautiful thing was the view from the gazebo. The sunset was totally stunning. I would definitely stay there again Bob and Jan were awesome hosts. We truly loved it there and the beach that was close to there was beautiful. We met some really lovely people there to talk to. I truly love the total east coast and one day I will live there. Thank you Bob and Jan for making our stay a great one Thanks Tom and Sue Jansen

We are delighted to give our highest recommendation to Chimney Corner Costal Cottages after having spent three nights there at the end of July. We were late to register and thus were able to rent only the ‘Studio’ A-frame cottage, the smallest and least secluded of the cabins on the property. Still, we were amazed at the sense of peace and quiet we experienced in extremely well-maintained surroundings. Our hosts, Bob and Jan, were never intrusive, but always ready to warmly and effectively respond to our needs. The grounds are the perfect combination of nature and artifice: a neatly mowed grassy central hillside, flanked by birch forest with paths running along a ridge overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence (where we sighted a whale and a number of raptors). Each cottage is artfully hidden from the others, giving inhabitants a sense of seclusion and independence (with the knowledge that immediate support and assistance is only a two-minute walk, or phone call, away). Bob and Jan are the consummate hosts, knowledgeable and interesting individuals, always eager to help.

We stayed in the Clifftop Octogon Cottage for four nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The location is absolutely breathtaking. There is a deck built right on the edge of the cliff to enjoy sunsets and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below. The cottage, which also gives you amazing views, is perfect for 2 people. It's roomy and clean and is equipped with all you need to cook meals, including a grill. As far as we're concerned Chimney Corners Cottages has it all, bar none!! We would highly recommend staying here.

Wow ! If you want to get away from the city, stay at one of the Chimney Corner Coastal Cottages. We stayed at the Octagon cottage (more like a beautiful home) for a week at the end of July. It was the best place and area to stay in. Right in the middle of everything. We were a short drive to the Cabot Trail, and right on the Ceilidh Trail. Jan and Bob were very gracious hosts and would help in any way they could to make our stay a pleasant one. The view was second to none. After a day of touring the area, visiting the sights or driving the Cabot Trail, it was a pleasure to come back to our home away from home to relax, sit on the porch or on the deck by the water, sip on a glass of wine and talk about our wonderful day and what we would do the next day. We would definitely stay at Chimney Corner Cottages the next time we visit Cape Breton Island, and we will.
