A couple of us called for lunch, it was not busy. There were four retired fellas sat opposite us and they kept us entertained. Last of the Summer Wine came to mind! They were obviously regulars and had two meals we were having and also fish and chips. We all loved the food, we had gammon and also scampi. The...

Booked in for 1 night as a stopover to break up my journey, a very wise decision as it turned out. We were made to feel really welcome by bar staff and locals alike. As per previous reviews I can whole heartedly endorse the superb meals and there is an extensive choice of ales to suit everyone. If the food...

If you are thinking of staying here do not eat anything for at least a day before you go and you might ! just might ! finish one course. Stayed here for one night bed breakfast and evening meal and could not fault the quality of the food or the friendliness of the hosts. This is a very old pub...

A warm welcome from landlord and staff. Friendly local pub. Stayed 2 nights in a comfy room, excellent shower. Food in bar was home cooked and delicious, the best steak and ale pie. A delightful stay. Thanks.

Stayed here for a night on a recent business trip. Had a great experience, met the locals had good craic at the bar. Bags more character than a chain hotel. Overall good accommodation with a great English breakfast.

Friendly staff, excellent selection of beers and lagers. A £4.95 lunch menu that has to be the best value for miles around. Also a weekly special menu with some lovely fish dishes. Great rooms, with a full breakfast made to order whenever it suits you.

My wife and I are from the Midlands but we stayed in the Thurstonland area with our son who was on holiday from the USA with his American wife and our grandson. We visited the Rose & Crown twice for meals - Sunday Lunch on our own (excellent roast beef) and with the family on the eve of their flight...

High in the hills above the Holme Valley. Lovely location in Thurstonland village. Easy to find. The Rose and Crown is a busy and popular village pub. Well worth a visit for the food and beers on offer. There are three bedrooms. A bit spartan but quite comfortable and spotlessly clean. Bathroom likewise spotless. Breakfast was a work of art....
