Detailed Reviews
We went to Quadra Island as a day trip and stopped for lunch here, situated right next to the ferry going over to Cortes Island (across the island from Campbell River ferry). Lots of outdoor seating, there is the main pub, basic but very pleasant, plus there are rooms for the hotel. Recommend the delicious clam chowder which was very good, served with toasted ciabatta, and the fish and chips. Will definitely go back and possibly stay at the hotel as the location is beautiful right next to the harbour. Lots of parking available and very friendly service. Outdoor area definitely dog friendly. Possibly best clam chowder in the area!

We camped here recently in a waterfront site. We truly loved being right on the water and watching all of the boats in the marina. We were quite surprised with how close the campsites are to each other. The trailer next to us had a slide out which was actually overlapping our concrete pad by a few inches. To add to the sites being extremely close together, people seemed to have no problem walking right next to our RV and through our site. Maybe the resort could build a designated path along the water, and encourage people to walk on the path rather than right through the middle of campsites that are occupied with campers?
We loved the pub, and had some great drinks on the grassy area looking out over the marina. I would stay here again, but would be a bit better prepared for people to wander through our site whenever they wanted.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry you experienced so much walk through traffic going through your site. There is a very obvious path in front off all the sites but I will bring your idea forward about adding more signage or pathways to redirect guests. Our campsites are quite tight and I do hope you were informed of that before you came. Thanks for your visit and you feedback. We look forward to having you back!

Superb location, particularly afternoon and evening. Our double room was very small (although there may be larger rooms) with bare minimum of facilities and equipment; in particular, there was no kettle or means of making tea or coffee. No breakfast is available so we had to drive some distance to get even a cup of coffee. TAKE YOUR OWN KETTLE ETC.!
The restaurant food was mixed - a few excellent dishes, mainly seafood, and the rest unremarkable. They try to promote wine from Quadra. The rose was palatable but only try the red if you like the savour of boot-polish dissolved in vinegar. They charged $1.25 (plus tax and tip) to provide mustard with a steak - silly really because the revenue is trivial but it annoys the customer to the point of deducting a star.

Thank you for your review, Our hotel is over 100 years old and does have smaller rooms. We also offer a suite that sleeps 8 with a full kitchen and 3 cabins with full kitchens. Maybe one of those would have suited your needs better. Because of the strange times we are in we do not serve breakfast at this time. Normally we offer free coffee in the hallway but since we can't offer communal buffet style spaces it was not offered this season. We apologize for that. We do like to support our local winery and realize it is not for everyone but some people really do enjoy it! As for the mustard, we do charge for extra sides except for regular mustard and ketchup which is free. If you asked for Dijon there would have been a charge. If by chance you were improperly charged for regular mustard we would be happy to send you a refund in exchange for that extra star ;)

Stayed here half a dozen times or so in the past 10 years but won't be back. Rented a 2 bedroom cabin for $870 for 2 nights. The cabin could definitely use some ugrades and major cleaning. There were spider webs everywhere in the 2 bedrooms along with large spiders to go with them. At night we heard scratching in the ceiling, mice ??
Could use an electric kettle as the old one was rusty inside. Also needs proper cooking pots or casseroles and bbq tools.

Arrived and given room 6 with the shared balcony. Decor in room very tired and bathroom needs updating it had cracked floor tiles. No TV or kettle in room. Hotel does not provide breakfast so we had to drive to get a spot. Balcony needs maintenance as decking planks poor condition and only seats available no tables.
The restaurant was the best part of this hotel and staff there very good.
Also surprised that reception didn’t open till 09:00 so we had to leave without settling up and that had to be done later by email.
The hotel is in a lovely location but definitely needs maintenance and a review about facilities.

The Heriot Bay Inn is set in a truly beautiful location on the waterfront just steps from the Cortes Ferry dock. The outdoor spaces are lovely, with lots of flowers and plenty of outdoor seating on the lawn and overlooking the bay. The restaurant staff were a friendly bunch.
Unfortunately, the condition of our room in the main building was unacceptable. The property has no AC, which is fine, but this became problematic because we could not open our window. We reported this to the front desk shortly after arrival but at the end of our 2-night visit, it still had not been fixed. The room was stuffy and musty. There are no screens on the windows despite being located in a wooded location with plenty of mosquitos. The faceplate on the light switch cracked when touched. There was an enormous spider perched above the bed. There were visible cobwebs. A piece of wall art fell from the wall onto the pillow of the bed (luckily, this happened while we were out for the day so no one was hit). The blinds fell from their bracket the first time we tried to open them.
This 100-year old inn has lots of potential, but in it’s current state, I wouldn’t stay again nor recommend it to others. Perhaps the private cabins are in better condition.

On May 29 we were at the Harriet Bay dinning room for dinner. The food was disgusting. The fish in the fish and chips was grey. The batter was not cooked all through. I can’t believe it was cod as indicated on the menu. We all left with a sickening taste in our mouths the rest of the evening. The waitress brought 2 meals and about 10 minutes later brought the other 2 (We were a party of 4). 2 dirty plates were picked up and the other two got got picked up 15 minutes later. The waitress spent more time visiting with the male waiter and didn’t even ask how our food was. We will not be back as it was a rotten experience that we do not wish to repeat.

We were booked for a weeks camping here. We were staying nearby so we went to check out the site, which we immediately cancelled! What a dump! $64.00 a night to stay in a place that looked like it was a wrecking yard, so unfortunate, old mould covered trailers, broken cement pads, very small unkept sites, nothing like their site map.

Hi Carol, Our waterfront RV park is very tight and not for everyone. I’m sorry it wasn’t up to your liking but we have a ton of return visitors that love it here . I’m not sure what mold covers trailers you are speaking about but we will look further into this . We hope you found the perfect spot to camp!

We had chicken burgers which were very good. Salad was good. The fries served on other orders were large portions and very tasty. Cold beer on tap and good service. Will be back next year when back on Quadra. There was 7 of us all meals were good. There was a band starting at dinner. We had drinks first as kitchen closed so food did not start until dinner time.

Stopped in for a very late lunch with my 84 year old father on a very hot day. Must have been too much for the server when I asked if we could sit outside, away from the bar crowd.
Two kinds of soup or salad were all that was available. After pointing out that we were still outside waiting, the server eventually sauntered out, took our order, then meandered back a while later to say they were out of the soup. At that point I had had enough.
It may be a great watering hole for locals, but I wouldn’t waste the $$ on indifferent service and no food.

I am sorry this was the service you received. We are extremely short staffed this season so can only offer soup and salad during some hours when we first open for the day. Some of our lawn areas are self serve and some are full service. Our staff are working really hard to keep us up and running but we do recognize that sometimes we make mistakes. apologies for your not great service it will be brought up with the team. We appreciate all feedback.
