I missed my connecting flight so that Yotel is inside the airport was very practical. But for almost 100€ /night without breakfast and a miserable shower, noises from ventilation all night long, not enough space to even open my suitcase properly, a rather hard matress...More
With an early morning flight, this is the perfect solution for a stress-free night. It was the best sleep I had during my trip to the Netherlands. I went through the main security check at about 7pm the night before my flight. Once inside the...More

Absolutely great hotel idea. We booked online in advance as we knew we had a long stop over. Great to chill out and relax after a flight. Shower facilities are great. We had premium room, so when we arrived the bed was upright like a...More

My understanding is different from those who have already replied. The hotel is on the 'secure' side of the airport, so as long as you have not passed through passport control and collected your luggage, you should be able to get into the hotel directly.
What is not clear to me is what would happen with your luggage if you don't claim it right after the flight, but leave it until after your nap. Airlines do have places/ways to store unclaimed luggage, but I don't know if you would want to risk that--or if there is risk involved. You might ask the airline you're arriving on.
I take you to mean that you want to take a nap after arriving from the US and before 'entering' The Netherlands, not that you want to nap before boarding a US-bound flight. You also don't say that you are transferring in Schiphol to another flight and want to nap between them -- in that event, you would not be claiming your luggage.
I don't think it matters to passport control whether you go through immediately after a flight or a few hours later after a nap. But you should check with someone who knows this. I'm just guessing.
Once you go through passport control, you are outside of the secure zone -- and then, you cannot access the hotel. At that point, you might as well pick up your luggage, store it in a locker, return via passport control and security, and go to the hotel. After your nap, you will have to re-enter via passport control, and then go claim your luggage from the locker. It is do-able. But for all that, why not just go through all this once and head to a hotel either near the airport or in whatever city you're headed to?
