Campground is poorly designed. First, water filled up at entrance on the right side at the water pipe which is opposite side of trailers. Second, power poles are on the front edge of the sites. We were not able to enjoy the privacy of spacious treed sites due to the awkward location of the power outlet poles, we had to move our trailer to the front of the site so that we can plug in. Third, the dump area at dump station was just a hole covered with a piece of wood! The first one we went was even filled up to the ground level, very disgusting!

Bathroom was clean but token for shower is $2 each and not even 2 mins as said. The water was not warm up before it ends. I did not use the boat launch so no comment could be provide. The campground definitely need some improvements.

Staff is A+++, so easy to deal with and extremely helpful.
The lake side lots are amazing, we even had a storm hit us and we were comfortable as can be.
We will be back over and over again. Good for you staff - you all deserve a raise!

I booked this campground for the September Long Weekend, arriving on Thursday Sept 3 and leaving on Monday Sept 7. We had 3 sites booked, one for us, the second for my parents and the third for our friends. We have never been up to Slave Lake before and we were all super excited about going up there. It was my husband's birthday on Sept 4 and we had a fun day planned. We all were going to go fishing for the day, as we have heard nothing but good stuff with fishing in Lesser Slave Lake. We arrived at Spruce Point Campground around 6:30 pm and got all checked in. There was just my family & my parents because our friends were arriving on Friday. As we followed the map that they gave us, I was thinking to myself, "what the heck is this place, this can't be the campground that I saw online" As we drove down the scary washed out road that was right on the waters edge with my 31'motorhome, I said to my son, "I sure hope that we don't have a spot near the water and all the broken down trees" I asked my son to look to the right and through the trees to see if he could see any other campers there and he said "there is nothing there but marshland" I didn't understand as I thought this is where they showed on the website where they hold their rodeo's. There was maybe 15-20 campers at the campground that night. This just didn't make sense to me, as this was a long weekend. My understanding was that they only had a few spots left when I booked. As we made our way to the sites they had given us, I just laughed but was also very upset that this is where we were going to spend our September Long weekend at. I have pictures that I will be posting with my review for you to see exactly what I mean. The security guard followed us to the sites and asked my dad and my son what they thought of the sites. My dad told her that he was very disappointed and there was no way that he would be able to park and level our campers on the sand and the slope that was there. She then spoke to me and told us that she would move us to another site for the evening and that we could deal with the office in the morning. She asked us if we were aware of the BIG STORM that hit the campground the second week of July and we told her that NOBODY told us about this "STORM" that took out almost the entire campground. The only thing they told me was that they had room for us and they booked our sites and took our money with no problem. I had to contact our friends and told them not to leave Drayton Valley until they heard back from me in the morning. I was able to get ahold of another campground and she had room for all of us. I couldn't believe that we actually were able to find 3 sites on the Friday of the long weekend. In the morning we left our site and went directly to the office to let them know how disappointed we all were in their campground. The lady manager was very nice to deal with and asked us if we were sure that we didn't want to stay and I told her no, she then proceeded to ask if we wanted to stay if it was free and I still said no to her and told her thank you anyways. The total amount for all 3 sites for the weekend was $445.00 and they were still willing to give us our money back and let us stay for free. We left there and went right over to Big Fish Bay RV Resort and that place will be our NEW GET AWAY when we are heading to Slave Lake, Alberta. We all were so excited to stay at Big Fish, but I'll do a review for them as well. I want everyone to be VERY AWARE of the male manager, who goes by the name of FRED!! This person is the rudest person I have ever dealt with before. He was 100% defensive right from the moment I told him that we had checked out of the campground. He asked me the reasons why I didn't want to stay there and I almost laughed at him. I told him that the sites were absolutely awful and the road was very scary to drive on, along with all of the broken trees all over the road. He told me that our sites were the nicest sites he had and that there was nothing wrong with the road. I had to call him because I was asking for a refund for our boat to be parked in the marina for the weekend. He started getting very loud with me and he told me that if he would have been in the office that he wouldn't have given us our money back. I told him that I had already contacted my credit card company and they told me that if the campground didn't refund me back that they would go to bat for me and get it back through the dispute department. This person SHOULDN'T BE RUNNING A CAMPGROUND OR HAVING A JOB THAT DEALS WITH CUSTOMERS. Go ahead and read the recent reviews about this campground but also just the reviews that have to deal with FRED alone and you will know exactly what I mean. Once again, stay away from this campground and go to Big Fish Bay RV Resort and you will have the time of your life.
