Welcoming hosts. Good breakfast. Room was a cut above; well done for the high quality Egyptian cotton sheets. Bliss. Tissington is a charming estate village within easy striking distance of the beautiful Derbyshire dales. Recommend a trip to Leek. Fascinating buildings & architecture and a treasure trove of antique / junk shops.

Lovely stay at working farm in a sheppards hut The hut was cosy and was kitted out really well with little touches , a torch to get to the shower and toilet, an umberella, DAB radio , hair dryer, little heater to keep out the evening chill, tea and coffee making facilities and even a fridge. We brought our near 6 year old son to stay for 2 nights at the farmhouse whilst visiting Alton Towers. This is my son's first trip to Europe and his little eyes were bewildered by the charming farmhouse setting Bassettwood offered. The owners - Sarah and Brian are great couple who have done everything to make our stay special. Brian... More

We spent a weekend here, and really enjoyed the shepherd's hut. It was cute and well kitted out (though the floor could have done with a sweep), and in the rain was still very warm and cosy. The local village is really lovely, and the animals on the farm are adorable. The bathroom was a short walk from the hut,... More

Arrived for afternoon tea after a cycle trip thoroughly deserving a big pot of tea and some delicious cake, all with chickens pecking around the floor and friendly cats. Lovely place run by a lovely couple who couldn't have been more friendly. Our room was well equipped and presented with a comfy bed. Breakfast in the morning was high in... More

I booked Bassettwood as a surprise for my husbands birthday. We cycled the Tissington Trail and then went to Bassettwood for a cream tea - it was amazing! Sarah and Brian were fantastic hosts; very friendly and welcoming. We loved wandering round talking to and stroking the animals they have. Our room was clean, comfortable and very well equipped; chocolates... More

A hidden gem. We were travelling along a dirt track, not knowing what to expect when we arrived at the tea-room. We received a warm welcome and the scones were fresh out of the oven! We also had fun meeting the pygmy goats, donkey, pig and farm dog. Well worth a visit.

We are all very sad to have left Bassettwood after a fabulous Easter bank holiday. Wonderful farm stay, where our children were welcomed to help feed the animals and collect the eggs in the morning. When new lambs were born, which was very regular over the weekend, our children were shown the lambs by Brian. Fabulous breakfasts and cream teas;... More
