Beauty little cabins close to the ferry. Popped in without a reservation and was promptly assisted via phone, and then someone on site let us in without any hiccups to cabin #4. He swept and de iced the steps for us on arrival. Place was clean and bathroom was wonderful with a large river rock/rain shower. We asked if there was firewood to use for the communal firepit and the answer was yes. After leaving for a while, we came back to kindling chopped and paper left out to accompany the wood, very nice touch. The little kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to make a hot breakfast. Bed was very comfortable.

The only thing that was a little lacking was lighting at night, could do with another lamp or two so the overhead light wouldn’t have to be on, maybe on a nightstand instead of a tall dresser, not sure how many people are filling a dresser but I guess if you were staying longer you might.

Would happily return and also recommend staying.

Anyone coming off the ferry or intending to continue their journey on the ferry will find this location very very handy. It's close to the terminal but no issues with road noise in the morning or night. The cabins are pretty new and really well equipped. Bathrooms, beds, kitchenettes and porch with a barbecue are all in great shape and make for a snug and cozy stay.

We came from the other end of the island (about an 8.5 hour drive) the cabins were beautiful and very clean and tidy. Our host Donna was absolutely lovely! Probably the best experience we’ve ever had, she was super helpful with giving up directions to some local favourites. And was a delight to deal with when we needed anything. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommend if your planning a trip to port hardy or Cape Scott.

We were in cabin #9 and were so happily surprised by the cleanliness, modernity and comforts that we wanted to cancel our other plans and stay much longer! We will definitely stay here again if we are ever in the Port Hardy or Port McNeil area. We drove around quite a bit after arriving and we didn't see anything like these cabins. It was also quiet. We couldn't hear cars at all and it was very close (driving wise) to the downtown area. The host was amazing with communicating and was incredibly accommodating and kind when we had to change our length of stay. I know that might not always be the case (we were there in late september - not very busy) but regardless she was so wonderful. Highly recommend.

Couldn’t have been happier with finding this true west coast gem of a cabin! Extremely clean, cozy, super comfortable bed & high quality linens. Well thought out, ideal location for exploring the wild & rugged north island area. Absolutely perfect, peaceful & provided exactly what we needed to recharge.
BONUS: Local, knowledgeable, super accommodating & friendly owners - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ecoscape cabins is a fantastic place to stay while exploring Port Hardy and the surrounding area. The cabins are comfortable and clean, and the ones with full kitchens are fully stocked. The ones without kitchens have full use of the wonderful communal outdoor kitchen. There are campfire pits with wood provided too! (When campfires are allowed). We stayed the first time in 2020 and enjoyed the experience so much we returned in 2021. We hope to return again. Highly recommend.

The cabin was very comfortable, thoughtfully stocked and we enjoyed the babbling water feature and elegant grounds. Just wish we had a little longer to enjoy the place - but our 520 ferry check in meant for an early start. Great place

Spent 2 nights in cabin #9, perfect for 4 people. Modern decor and all the mod cons, including a gas bbq on the deck and a private firepit—shame about the fire ban. Great, quiet setting, an easy drive into Port Hardy. Well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds and a huge wall-mounted TV, perfect for watching sports on a rainy day. Highly recommended.

Lovely cabins just outside Port Hardy.
Very well equipped and comfortable. It was sooo relaxing sitting on the deck outside in the evening sun.
The owners running it are super helpful too!
Great base to enjoy the beauty of the north island :)

We (couple - early 50's) were in the middle of a 3 week road trip, leaving Vancouver Island after a week - heading from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, then Haida Gwaii. I found Ecoscape on T.A. and based on the reviews, reserved Cabin 4 for 2 nights. This was a win on all counts:
Location: the cabins are located on a 15 acre property just a few minutes down the road from the ferry. While it’s not directly in town, it was about a 5 minute drive to the wine store and 6 minutes to town! The location is particularly nice, as we saw a lot of wildlife, including deer, eagles and a bear along the road.
Cabins: The site / cabins were built by the owners, and their craftsmanship is obvious throughout. We stayed in Cabin 4 - it had everything we needed - the usual amenities plus a portable induction stove - it was clear that the details were carefully considered, and in particular, the bathroom / rain shower were spa like. The water feature in front of the cabins was wonderful, and lulled us to sleep at night. The outdoor barbecue was fully equipped, to the extent that we prepared crab and steak and dined in style on a surf and turf feast as you can see in the attached picture!
Host: The most important element in making our stay so enjoyable was the care that Donna took to make us feel welcome. In addition to giving tips on things to do, and where to eat (each suggestion worked out perfectly!), she sent us off to pick up some fresh crab at Hardy Bouys and gave us a lesson on preparing it.
I would recommend Ecoscape to anyone needing a place to stay in the North Island region.
