Good size room with 2 comfy queen size beds. Big new TV, good size fridge and WIFI in the room. Level entrance which was very important to us. We stayed 4 nights. Bernie, the manager is super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and highly recommend Airport Inn, as it is in a good location to take in the beautiful nature of the surrounding area. Definitely will stay again if ever we return to Port Hardy. The new management and ownership worked very well for us.
We stayed at the Airport in with a large group. I will sy that the service was great and Bernie worked hard to make it a pleasant stay. I did find that the entire hotel was very cold, and we weren't able to get our rooms very warm. That said, I found Port Hardy was cold everywhere and no one seemed to have heat! Amenities are not the same in every room, but it was good to have a fridge. Wires from air con unit running directly through the room and outdoors was a little sketchy. Overall we had a good stay and found that Bernie tired hard to make up for anything that was lacking. The hotel is dated and beds and decor is old, but the price was right and we had a decent stay, decent sleep. That said NO WIFI in room that we stayed, seemed to be a dead spot, and this was frustrating as we also had no phone cell service either.…
Stopped here to go to work. Older hotel but clean. Great sushi restaurant on site. Most hotels are very pricey so this is nice. Have liquor store on site. Recommended for budget mi def people. Out of the way but cheaper
No greeting or smile when you arrive. It's all about collecting the money. Off to your room. Notice the laundry room open at the end of the hallway with a woman in the doorway yelling in a foreign language past us and back to the reception clerk. They must be related and don't mind yelling in front of guests. Right turn down the first hallway. What a rank smell at this turn! (and is stayed there, every time we were near this corner). Room door hard to open. Minimalistic room, but okay for one night. No smoking in the room, but he said you can smoke outside the room. (we don't smoke). Pulled the curtain and slid open the sliding door leading to (not a patio, we're not sure what the mess is). Spotted the can to put your buts, and sand everywhere. What a disgusting sight (see photo). On the way down the hallway, spotted a common washroom. Pretty gross looking from the entrance (see photo). Front entrance of the hotel requires much TLC. See photos. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that. And, all this for only $150.80 per night (tax in). We'll try not to repeat this costly lesson any time soon.…
A surprisingly well-kept hotel, in a quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance of the Port Hardy airport and a 12-minute drive into the town of Port Hardy. There is a small liquor outlet at the Reception area (if you arrive for check-in at the same time as a customer wanting to purchase booze, sorry but you have to wait!), as well as a restaurant near the entrance. Check-in is efficient and uncomplicated, particularly if you book ahead. Reception staff and the proprietors are courteous and helpful, even holding the entrance door open for you, if necessary. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms clean and the beds comfortable. The building is constructed of cement blocks and the rooms tend to be on the cool side but you are informed of this at check-in and invited to request a space heater if you need one. Accessing internet did not present any difficulty. Port Hardy airport is in a beautiful location by, and approached from, the ocean. On a sunny day the scenery is glorious, looking out over the calm water and the snow-capped Coast Mountains on the Mainland in the distance.…
Awful way out of town, near Airport. Cheap and tatty. Breakfast buffet served on paper plates with plastic cultery! ATM didn't work. Only good thing , nope can't think of it! oh heck need 200 characters lalalalalalalalala
Really good place to stay if you are going to take a plane out in the morning or for anyone that wants a place to stay the food is really good. Stayed here different times over the years good service.
The hotel was booked by our travel company as part of our travel itinerary across Western Canada. To be fair, we opted for the “standard” hotel as we knew we would be arriving late and leaving early the next morning. This was the only time we opted for “standard”. However, this hotel was far far below the standard of the other five hotels we stayed at. We arrived at nearly midnight from the ferry terminal (circa 6km away). There may be reliability issues with one of the local taxi companies so I recommend doing some research in advance and pre-booking. The hotel itself is uninspiring from the outside and the reception is partitioned to double as a liquor store. Inside the hotel, we were dealt with efficiently but rather abruptly at the reception and was disappointed to learn there was no breakfast available at the hotel and the nearest place we could get anything to eat in the morning was in town (circa 6 km away)! This was bad news as we had a 9 hour coach transfer to Victoria the next morning. We later heard from another guest that, as it was early September and the summer season had finished, the hotel had stopped serving breakfast. So guests don't require breakfast out of season? The room was decent sized and clean enough. It included a small/medium sized white kitchen fridge with a microwave oven placed on top. The concrete block walls were not very soundproof. The wifi was good. For a traveller without a car, the hotel is quite isolated and 6km from the downtown area but it is only few hundred metres from the airport. The relatively isolated location could be inconvenient if you require breakfast or evening meal and don't have your own transport. It's not the sort of hotel I'm used to and I would definitely look for something better if I ever had to stay in Port Hardy again but for its type it's probably ok and not expensive. I’m sure there are a lot worse. Overall, it seems more motel than hotel and for our holiday requirements, it was a disappointing experience.…
We were lucky to get a room in Port Hardy because our visit coincided with the ferry. The Inn is near the airport and close to the ferry terminus. We found the reception staff friendly and obliging and the room quite large and well appointed, for what is essentially a transit motel. Our room had no fridge or microwave. It did have a hairdryer and coffee machine. No issues at all with the wifi in our room. In fact it was excellent, better than we've had in some larger establishments in bigger places than Port Hardy. We didn't eat there but noted a Japanese restaurant on site and liquor outlet. We would stay here again for an overnighter. When all you want is somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep, the Inn does the job.
We booked here the night before a dream vacation and after. Both rooms had terrible WiFi. No phone coverage in the rooms. Had to go to the parking lot to make calls. Room was spare but clean. Big surprise was the great water pressure! So the shower was terrific. Did not want to stay the second time but all other places were booked. This will do for a clean place to sleep. The "breakfast " was a pastry and coffee and an Apple. Certainly an adequate breakfast for a fast getaway to your next adventure but after the lovely time we had our destination lodge it was a stark contrast. Staff we spoke to mumbled badly and did not seem comfortable with English.
