Resort was clean and maintained. New windows were nice for views of fishing boats. Beds need to be replaced. One double was super hard firm the other sagged in the middle. Adjoining restaurant was good. However misleading in “Tavern” name. Delish Chinese/Thai cuisine. Complementary continental breakfast great. Paper bags made it easy to take food to go.
Great place to stay if you are catching the ferry to Prince Rupert. It is very easy to find with a large, free car park and just a few miles from the ferry terminal. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable and well appointed. A take out breakfast was provided on our departure as we were catching a very early ferry.
I booked this place for a one night stay in Port Hardy back in November 2021, the inclusions were parking and a full breakfast. Move on to September 2022 and we arrived. The receptionist on check in was only what I can describe as rude and hostile from the moment we approached the desk. Obviously customers were far too much trouble for her. She demanded (not asked for, demanded) the credit card I had used to make the booking which I handed over but with retrospect we should have just left then because her hostility only escalated. Finally she thrust a slip of paper at us to tick boxes on if we were 'interested in breakfast'. The choices included a box of juice and a piece of fruit. I stopped her at this point and said we had an inclusion of a full breakfast in our booking which she had just taken payment for, she asked for proof of this which I provided and the response was 'tough, that's what's on offer, take it or leave it, it's all because of Covid'. I asked for a refund on the cost at which point she got up and walked away and did not return, at one level I was glad to see the back of her but what dreadful service. After a few minutes a second receptionist appeared who was far more helpful and pleasant and she undertook to sort out the booking but again the 'Covid excuse' was rolled out about breakfast. (Do they know the hotel next door has its restaurant open from 06.30-21.00 every day and do they take their own customers for fools on the back of that?) The room had clean beds and hot water and we were prepared to settle for that, the floor was filthy, - see pic of the carpet. Whatever about being run down, there is no excuse for that level of filth, it was not possible to walk to the bathroom with bare feet. We slept reasonably well and checked out early the next morning at which point I had to deal with the original receptionist again who was just as rude and just as hostile. The cost of the room had been reduced and when I required she print out the invoice as I wanted proof of that all I can say is that if looks could kill, I would have died in utter agony. There are NO circumstances under which I would return to this dump again.…
After a 2 week road around BC this was the end of the road to catch the Ferry. Reception greeting was “Hi” …..no hotel welcome here. A nice hello would be good after a 300km drive. Corridors were spotless new and shiny. The room was big n spacious great view but the carpets were filthy, stained with all sorts ,big let down. Just felt unhealthy. The associated pub/ Resturaunt has limited hours boasting “ new Management “ Scared to think what the old management was. Food was Asain mix. Tasted like it was cooked yesterday then heated up to order, 2/10 for that. No service etiquette, lot to learn, although it’s almost end of season. Usually your table would be cleared and a desert offered before you close out but no , pay the check and go. Everything still on the table. Not a staff issue, simply etiquette.…
Where to begin? Start with check-in. I came in on a late ferry, and had a reservation via Booking.com - which the hotel had "no record of", even after I showed them the reservation on my cell, including the confirmation #. It was not "in the system". They apparently listed it under my first name. OK, mistakes happen (I was not the only one being turned away). Let's continue- the lock to my room was broken. Bulbs were out. Virtually all of the carpet was stained - appears to have been mold, as there were white blotches. Disgusting. Lighting was inadequate. The room was spare, bare-bones in terms of furniture. Breakfast was a grab and go bag - hey folks, the pandemic is winding down, other places that provided breakfast are doing so now. Aside from a nice view of the harbor, this place has little going for it. I asked for the manager the next day but he was "off-site" The person at the desk did not ask me why I wanted to speak to him.. To top it off, the hotel had sign saying it was under new management. Might be time for another change.…
Great location on the harbour. We had a king room on 4th floor, it was huge and the bed very comfortable. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed. The lady on reception chose to take a 15 min break just as the ferry docked so the check in process was a shambles and long waits. The ‘breakfast’ is a bag with a selection of items in it that bear little resemblance to what you asked for. The mgt should upgrade this option, it just looks cheap. Pretty good overall but a few areas for improvement
Good place to stay in Port Hardy. Clean rooms with refrigerator, grab & go breakfast. What stands out in my mind is the top notch customer service we received from Riley, the manager. I had counted on doing laundry at the marina which had closed early. We were leaving early in the morning and I was out of clean clothes. Riley was very sympathetic to my plight and provided me with a way to get my laundry done. I can’t thank him enough. We also had a good dinner at the adjacent pub.
Stayed one night after arriving on the ferry from Prince Rupert. Hotel is approx 5 mins from the ferry dock. Location is nice on the marina. Front desk staff both night and day were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast included was brown bagged and not worth much - hardly worth the mention. The hotel was comfortable enough but very overpriced, hence the rating. If it weren’t the only room available I’d have chosen another. Do yourselves a favour, stay someplace else.
Our stay at the hotel was pleasant until we had to deal with the manager. He was confrontational and used abusive language. His behavior caused another guest to reprimand him. His actions spoiled our stayed.
My friend and I stayed at the Quarterdeck after taking the ferry from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy. We arrived at midnight. The hotel is about 5 miles from the ferry terminal. The night front desk person was ok - just not very friendly in my opinion. There is NO A/C and the lobby does not have space to relax with a cup of coffee. The continental breakfast is To Go Bag with things you order the night before. Nice enough, but not what I expected. The room was just ok. Beds were comfortable, but not soft/plush by any means.
