We stayed one night here after taking the BC Ferry from Prince Rupert. I called ahead to make sure we could check in after midnight, and was assured we could. We ended up in a little line of vehicles coming off the ferry and going to the Glen Lyon. Check-in was rapid and efficient, which was very much appreciated. Our room was large, clean quiet and comfortable. I can't speak to the restaurant, as it was closed the next morning to accommodate a bus tour that had also come off the ferry.
Never judge a book by its cover. From front it doesn’t look much get past the friendly check in open the door to your room and you will be surprised every room has a stunning view of the harbour and a balcony. The pub and restaurant are attached to the hotel and serve up good quality reasonably price breakfasts and dinners. Don’t expect sophisticated dining take it for what it is and enjoy the local welcome and service
They offer free wifi and a free breakfast, which is 90% of the reason I book there, but neither one of them worked. They didn’t have enough staff to man the restaurant and knew this ahead of time, but didn’t mention it when I booked or checked in. The wifi didn’t work for the entirety of my stay and the front counter staff were unable to help. I come up here for work often and won’t be staying here again.
Clean, comfortable; beautiful changing vista over the harbour. Breakfast ready early, kitchenette available.. Does accommodate shift workers who start early or end late. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The location is convenient to the Bear Cove ferry terminals. It overlooks the harbour, so we were able to sit on our balcony and watch eagles and seals. We were greeted on arrival by probably the friendliest woman in Port Hardy! We were very satisfied with the accommodations.
We arrived at the Glen Lion at 1:00 a.m. and were warmly greeted by the woman on the front desk. Our room was spacious and recently updated. We had to leave early that morning and did not eat in the restaurant. All rooms have harbour views. We would gladly stay again
Clean rooms upgraded facility, great beds, clean linens, very good view of the harbour & the food in the restaurant is excellent. Friendly staff go all out. Would easily stay here again. Cape Scott not far away!!
I am so happy to check in this morning with my girl friend #5 from Johannesburg for 4 nights stay , she love nature out door , eat spicy food ! front desk lady super friendly , not pricy at all for $300 a night , stay at the King suit on the third floor with balcony , not a extravaganza resort , but comfortable clean Inn , lovely harbour view , rooms did not small like old hotel , very modern and clean , bedding very comfortable , staff told us , the bathroom newly refurbishing , very clean and well stocked with towels , restaurant and Pub are open for business , but check the hours , ,so if you thinking go Salmon Fishing , Port Handy and the Glen Lyon Inn is the Place to stay , Inexpensive , people do booked the room a year ahead !
The staff were so friendly upon arrival & the duration of our stay. The room was extremely spacious and relaxing with a huge balcony. The view is gorgeous!!! There are a few places that deliver food to your room, there is a restaurant on site ( Separate management from the hotel itself ) we won't be customers of the restaurant ever again, but the hotel and staff were awesome & I will go back.
I’ve been going fishing out of Port Hardy and staying on a boat for over 20 years and this was the first time that I’ve ever stayed in a hotel. Glen Lyon was a great choice with a fantastic view. Just far enough away from the commercial and public docks - nice a quiet.
