I was looking for a two day retreat to the Sunshine Coast and come across the Malaspina Bed and Breakfast by fluke on Bookings.com. I don't usually use that platform to book accommodations as I find it impersonal and much prefer Airbnb.

I was greeted by Margaret who was a delight to talk to. I had a lovely room on the second floor that shared a bathroom with another room adjacent to mine. Margaret's husband Mike was kind enough to take me to Lund harbor where I boarded a water taxi for Savary Island for a day visit. I had a lovely breakfast at the B&B which included an omelette, waffles with fresh berries and fresh preserves, delicious.

The hosts were very accessible for any questions or needs but still allowed me to have the privacy I was looking for. The property is in pristine condition with beautiful gardens. The house is spotless and beautiful which natural wood throughout. My bed was very comfortable.

The morning I left I had to leave by 6 a.m. Mike was up and had coffee made and Margaret had left a lovely doggie bag for me to take for the long ride home. It was a delight to enjoy fresh muffins, yogurt and sandwich for my travels home. This B&B has just opened this year and it is obvious that Mike and Margaret have found they're calling. There is also an above ground pool if you want to go for a dip

A couple of things to note is that Lund is somewhat off the grid and access to internet is limited. Steaming and downloading is not permitted but using general email and browsing is fine. Also, they only take cash I would prefer NOT to do. I like to have electronic records of where I spend money and I don't like the inconvenience of having to go to a bank. They also do their communications through Booking.com which I find to be an impersonal platform. When I asked about upgrading to a larger room I was told to go through Bookings.com which made me feel like the host didn't want to be involved in the process. I decided NOT to go with the upgrade based solely on the process and lack of personal attention to the request.

In no way would I decrease this rating based on my personal preference of booking an accommodation but I did want to mention them.

Stayed at the Malaspina B&B what a nice surprise, our hosts were warm and welcoming!! We stayed in Unit #1 very clean, private and comfortable, had a great sleep!! Breakfast was prepared by Margaret from scratch and was exceptional. The grounds were exquisite with small touches and lighting every where, a definite recommend.

Margaret and Michael deserve 5* for this B&B. The Double room King size bed en suite is fantastic and very tastefully furnished. You will not be disappointed. The house is in a tranquil spot and is very accessible from Powell River ferry. We had a delicious bfast and nothing was too much trouble. The house is immaculate and the organic garden has been nurtured to produce food for their needs.
For dinner we ate at the Laughing Oyster restaurant for about 25$ we had a fabulous buffet and the owner chef/ singer sang easy listening songs which the clientele all applauded
A great evening.

Arriving towards the end of our 3 weeks of touring Canada, this was the perfect place to unwind! Margaret and Mike are excellent hosts and our room (unit1) was immaculate. Tastefully decorated with ensuite shower and the biggest bed we have ever slept in! Our own private entrance with a balcony area to sit out on. The outdoor pool gave us a refreshing break from the afternoon sun. The gardens are beautifully landscaped and the peace and tranquillity a delight.
Breakfast is amazing: a different treat each morning. Eggs, omlettes muffins, waffles, fresh fruit...
A first class place to stay!

Margaret and Mike have just opened up their place in the last few months. The place is lovely. The gardens are immaculate and pretty. The little studio room was new, tastefully appointed and spotless. Margaret, Mike and their two dogs are really hospitable. They are friendly, interesting and easy to chat with.

Breakfast was yummy.

I think Margaret is already all booked up for the summer but if u can snag a reservation here you won't be disappointed. It's a great location and the rooms are comfy and cozy.

This newly established B&B is beautifully designed, located just outside Lund and close to the popular Happy Oyster Restaurant. Hosts Mike and Margaret are wonderful, welcoming and do a breakfast to die for. Strongly recommend this place if you are passing through Powell River as we were, en route to Vancouver Island.

Beautiful and very comfortable room ( unit 1 with separate entry). Spotless and fresh throughout . Too bad, that we could only stay for one night. We will definitely stay there again, possible in September.
Nice landscape, big trees around. Cozy, little balcony outside the room.
Shortly after arrival we could relax on a swing bench by the pool with a cup of coffee and a slice of the best zucchini cake I ever tasted.
Good breakfast in the morning.

I cannot gush enough about our wonderful experience at Malaspina Bed and Breakfast up near Lund, British Colombia. My girlfriend and I had a fabulous one night stay with our hosts, Margaret and Michael. So many memorable conversations with them both after we arrived and over breakfast the next morning. What lovely and interesting people! You simply must go meet them! :)

The house itself completely dazzled me. I walked around slack jawed for the first 15 minutes. I wanted the name of their architect! Such a gorgeous home they've built. So open and full of light. Our room was spotless, modern and beautiful. The grounds themselves are also extensive. It would surprise you. We were free to walk around the property as much as we wanted and we took them up on the offer. They have a stunning flower garden and vegetable garden that wrap around the entire house and Michael has a work "shed" (read: beautifully constructed two-story workshop) back in the woods of their property where he can project in solitude.

Oh, and to top it all off, Margaret's breakfast was dynamite! So incredibly delicious, my word! See picture. I am a sucker for a breakfast that appeals to both my savory and sweet palette and Margaret nailed it! Also, speaking of food, Margaret and Michael highly recommended checking out the Laughing Oyster down the road for dinner. Such a good call. We had one of the most romantic dinners of our lives out on the deck. We were so thankful for the recommendation!

Bottom Line: This was one of the best - perhaps the best - bed and breakfast experiences I have ever had. And that is saying something! Do not miss this place if you come up the Sunshine Coast!

We spend 3 nights here at the end of September and were their final guests for the season. It was our first time in the area and found this B&B excellent. The king size bed was located in a lovely room separated from the house with its own entrance. Beautiful private treed grounds and the breakfasts were delicious and different each day. The hosts Margaret and Mike were wonderful. Highly recommended. Mike & Hilda Arnold

we spent three nights in the more private room with ensuite bathroom. quite frankly, it's a little paradise that they built there. at first if you book it seems a bit unfriendly because of all the probitions but don't let those fool you! mike and margaret are very caring and spoil you with their hospitality. they booked stuff for us and gave us tips on where to go. and the breakfast is delicious! the grounds qith the pool and the deck are so nice! we just had a great time there. thanks to the hosts!

btw: lund and the whole area is very idyllic and definitely go cayaking and visit the laughing oyster

From memory it was around $76 for one adult in one bed and $86 for 2 adults in one bed. You need to call them but they are cheap for the area.
