Not bad at all—nice grounds and view of the water, full kitchen with big fridge, and wisely they updated the bathroom prior to other needed renovations. This is an old motel, and if it were in Palm Springs they would add more kitsch and charge a lot more. This was a one-night backup option for us, but fine overall.
On a motorcycle trip with a couple of friends when we stayed here for one night ( June 26, 2021). This is an older Motel but very clean, excellent t.v., shower, kitchen facilities (I didn't require) and a nice ground floor unit. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. The grounds were clean and had a nice picnic table to eat our evening pizza with a cocktail while taking in the view of the ocean. It's not the Hilton but good value for your dollar. I had a great night sleep as this area is just five minutes south of town with no traffic noise. Cleanliness and a good bed are important to me and I got both at this motel.
This was one of the worst places I have stayed. It was dirty, the bed was terrible. Everything was unplugged as if they did not want you watching the TV to save on electrical. The fridge did not even work and despite it being warm inside with no signs of life, the owner claims it was working that morning? I understand trying to make up for your losses during covid but this place is not worth even close to what they charge. I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car
This is an older motel. It was clean and in reasonable condition although the bathtub badly needs re-caulking and the kitchen flooring needs replacing. The soap was so small it was unusable, so be prepared to bring your own soap. Not the most comfortable stay but by no means the worst. The location is on the main road through Powell River and not far from the ferry terminal. It is fine if you are just passing through but not a multiple day destination.
We have stayed at this motel several times over the past few years. The only reason why we have used it is that the rates were extremely cheap. (under $50) The rooms are old and not well maintained, but that didn't really matter as the price was decent. This time however, when we checked in the price had increased to $99 a night. (2 people and a dog) As we were super tired, we reluctantly agreed, hoping they had done wonders with new furnishings. We were very disappointed. It is still very run down. The beds are ancient and sagging, the room smells like stale smoke, the paint is peeling from the walls, the carpet is dingy and dirty, the tiles are loose on the bathroom floor etc etc. I have given it a rating of 1 star because there was hot water for the shower. Do not spend your money on this hotel. We will never stay here again.…
After a 7 hour day of riding in 30 degree temperatures we were very glad to finally be pulling up to our motel. We were greeted by an older lady, she was very nice and she proceeded to check us in. I used my visa and once the transaction said "approved" on the screen I handed the machine back to the lady, the receipt came out blank and this is where the confusion began. This nice lady needed to attach a printed receipt from that machine to a document from the computer for filing, the fact that the receipt didn't print basically shut down the entire process and she wanted to run it through my visa again. I said "no" and explained that if it didn't go through over the next couple days she could run my number through manually as I had used the number to book my room. That wasn't acceptable and she proceeded to ask for a cash payment... At this point I asked if I could just have a key to the room, her reply was "I don't know what to do" she said this 3 or more times while staring into the computer screen. I then pleaded "can I please have a room key so I can relax while you work this out, you have my credit card number and the transaction also said clearly that it was approved, you're going to have to trust me". She finally gave me a key and I proceeded to my room. The room had 2 very large spiders waiting to greet us and once we had them dealt with we sat on the beds that nearly sagged to the floor (extremely uncomfortable). We decided we would go out to grab some food and on our way out we were stopped by the lady who told me that she was unable to solve the issue. I explained that I would consider paying cash when I returned from dinner. When we got back I stopped at the office again, I was holding the cash in my hand and stood there waiting and listening as she talked on the phone for 5 mins about how to solve this issue. I'm not sure who she was talking to but I wasn't about to spent another minute waiting in that office as my vacation and rest time was being wasted so I walked out, the lady then decided to chase me down explaining that the transaction never went through. At this point I was fairly upset with the whole process and said "if you don't see the transaction go through in the next couple days then you can put it through manually using my visa number although I seen it say approved when I did the transaction" she agreed. At about 11:00 pm I got a knock on the door she came in and presented a piece of paper for me to sign, she said that she put it through manually as she had found that it didn't go through. I signed the paper, reluctantly, knowing that I would now have to keep an eye out for double billing on my visa statement. Sure enough this morning I found that the room had been double billed. I called the office, the manager explained that he was aware of my situation and that I would see a credit in 3 days to a week... what a hassle for an uncomfortable bed in a spider filled room...…
We stayed there for 3 nights in off season. I believe there were only 2 other rooms occupied during our stay. The room was clean. Furniture was a bit out dated. Kitchen facilities were adequate and in good working order. When we went to pay our bill the night prior to our departure we were advised that their credit card payment computer equipment crashed due to a storm in the area the day prior to our check-in. So we had to find a ATM to get enough cash to settle our bill. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I think we would stay there again if the rates stay reasonable.
Our family stayed here for 3 nights and we had a good experience. Staff was nice and helpful, we had a discount for reserving on-line when advertised. It is a small vacation site, somewhat original layout, with 2 buildings up for touristic rental and an adjacent lot for RV rentals, laundry was kinda far away but all in all it was fun. Sunsets were breathtaking, with Texada Island on horizon and Pacific Ocean just under. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere, budget rates. We could drive easily around the area and we discovered many interesting destinations. Once back at night, we had dinner over sunset on one of the picnic tables in front of our suite, moon was shining, ocean waves crashing somewhere in the distance, we absolutely loved it.
This is a RV park as well as a motel. The grounds are well kept and scenic, but located in a woodsy location, so the rear is not as attractive as the front. That said, they seem to be working on it. Quite clean, and the heaters worked well, outside it was 12C at night. Nice view of the water from any level, until the trees get bigger. A standard room has 2 beds (no duvets), and a fully equipped small kitchenette. Ours was spotless, except for the bathroom, which needed new paint and some grout. Our bill for the night was $73.45 Canadian.
My daughter, grandson and I had booked online for 3 nights. We were told that there was a play area where soccer could be played. When we arrived it was evident that there was no play area. The owner said he could play in the parking area only. The room was filthy dirty. The shower stall was dirty with black mould in crevices, loose hairs on the shower floor, as well as so much built up dirt on the shower floor you could see footprints. The kitchen had dishes and a sign that said they had to washed and put away when you left. They were gross! There was old food caked on some and grease on others. The headboards had to wiped down with a damp cloth before bedtime. Across the parking lot (20'), from our unit was a picnic table. I picked up a dozen rusty nails and screws walking over to the table. There was broken glass littering our parking spot and other areas of the same area. This was the 'designated' play area for my grandson. When I told the owner we would only stay the one night and gave him the handful of nails/screws and told him about the glass, he said someone had been rebuilding the picnic table and that he'd clean up the glass. This was at 3:15 pm. The next morning the glass was still strewn all over the parking area. Lastly, at 9:30pm he knocked on the door wanting to be paid. We were obviously down for the night as there were no lights on inside our unit. He woke my grandson and disturbed my daughter and I. The rest of our visit to Powell River was great! We stayed in the Island View Motel which cost only $10 more AND included a great breakfast.…
