We have stayed here several times in the past. It used to be a really nice hotel when it was new (30 or more years ago), but in the 7 years since we last stayed there, it has only gotten older and more tired looking.
We stayed 2 nights. There was absolutely no room service between our two nights. We were in and out several times and didn't see any housekeepers or any evidence that they had entered our room, despite us putting out the "service please" sign for the second half of the day.
Breakfast is included with the room, but it was the leanest continental breakfast I have seen in years -- an individual box of cereal (which could be handy if you are rushing for a ferry), milk, coffee, yogurt, bagels, toast, apples, oranges, and possibly muffins. There were also warm sausage rolls, but because of my allergies, I wasn't able to try one. Your meal ticket could give you $5 off breakfast from the restaurant menu, but any breakfast on the menu was $20-$30, so we didn't go for that option.
The owners and staff of this hotel need to travel so they can see what guests are expecting in the 21st century.
I'm not sure where there is a better option in Powell River, but we will be looking elsewhere on our next trip.

We came to Powell River for a weekend getaway and wanted to stay somewhere that was central, close to shopping, with decent amenities. This hotel fit those criteria. Although the building is a bit dated, and the hallways still hold in a cigarette smell, the rooms are modern, clean (they don't smell), and the quality of amenities are pretty decent for a somewhat isolated place. There is a local pub in the building with good pub fare and a seperate restaurant dinining space where breakfast and continental breakfast are served (though we did not make use of it). There is a Tim Hortons and an A&W approx. 150 meters from the hotel entrance, and a number of stores for all the essentials (groceries, pharmacy, liquor, take-out). It is a short and scenic walk down to Marine Ave for the cafes, boutiques, sea walk, and restaurants. It's about a $10 taxi ride back up the hill if you plan on a late night out. We noticed several buses that connect to the more remote stretches of town. On the other end of PR is the Old Town which is a lovely place to check out. There are a couple character hotels over there we looked at, they looked lovely, however being that this was our first visit to PR we decided on staying more central so to see more of the town by foot. We highly reccomend eating at the Royal Zayka, visiting Townsite Brewing, and catching a film at the Patricia Theatre (the longest running movie theatre in Canada!) in the Old Town.

Great stay. A little bit slow check in process. Initially we have been given a room on the first floor, but we have upgraded the room at the second floor with the garden view. Bedding was initially dirty but it was replaced. Conditioner was noisy. Willingdon beach is a 3 minute drive from the hotel so we had a chance to swim in the ocean once we checked in. Thanks to hot summer time! The breakfast was included. They had fruit loops that our son loves so it was a huge bonus. Also, they had oranges, apples, yogurts and juices.

From the moment you walk through the doors, the hotel staff treat every guest—including children—as if they are criminals.
We stayed here for a U13 hockey tournament with 11 families, and the experience was nothing short of appalling. At check-in, the staff showed blatant disrespect toward both parents and kids, with an attitude that felt hostile rather than welcoming. The woman handling check-ins, overwhelmed by a short line of parents, abruptly announced, “I’m going to give one big speech on the rules, and they must be strictly followed!”
Security patrolled the hallways, ensuring both kids and parents stayed confined to their rooms. As a paying adult, I do not appreciate being treated like an inmate simply for having a brief conversation with another parent about tournament plans. Being told I was "disturbing the peace" and ordered back to my room was beyond inappropriate.
If this hotel dislikes hockey teams, they should simply not allow them to stay. Reasonable guests understand rules to maintain order, but there is no excuse for treating families—especially children—with such hostility.
Beyond the terrible customer service, the accommodations themselves were disappointing. The rooms are outdated, the beds are hard as plywood, and the sheets feel like sandpaper.
The staff desperately need customer service training, and management should seriously reconsider how they treat guests. Given that the town likely relies on tournaments to support the local economy during winter, alienating visitors is a terrible business move.
Our team has been assigned this hotel again for another tournament in March—but we will not be staying here. The way we were treated was unacceptable.

We stayed in an Executive One King Bed room for 3 nights in August 2024. We paid a good buck for the room, $204 plus tax per night for a total of $703.80. We were a bit surprised that room amenities for this fee did not include a microwave, which we rented for an additional $10/night. Oh well.
My wife is disabled with mobility issues, so we were relieved to see 2 disabled parking spots close to the front entrance. This worked well for us, we appreciated the short walk into the building. We were reasonably happy with our visit until the last night. When we returned from our evening meal, we noticed that a single compact vehicle had entered the parking lot from the wrong direction and was occupying not just one but both disabled parking stalls. (See our photo.) We reported the vehicle to the front desk and to our surprise they were aware of it and refused to do anything about it. The vehicle apparently belonged to a regular pub patron who was consuming his usual evening meal and drinks. I was told I could park anywhere else in the parking lot, just not in the disabled spots. They were unwilling to ask the regular pub patron to move his improperly parked vehicle so that 2 elderly folks, one of them disabled, could use the designated stall to which their disabled sticker entitled them. Incredible! Probably illegal as well.
So the moral of this review is simple: if you’re disabled, you can pay $204/night for a high-end room and get a healthy dose of disrespect in return. One regular pub patron has far more rights and privilege at this establishment than two disabled parties. We won’t be back, and in our humble opinion, you shouldn’t go.

Very happy with our stay. We did not have a car and the hotel is within walking distance of two grocery stores and some fast food restaurants. The rooms were clean and comfortable. My wife and I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. The hotel shuttle is not available for the last arriving flight at the airport.

We had been pre-booked for one night as our arrival time on the ferry precluded onward travel. The hotel is just a few minutes from the ferry terminal, so very handy. The receptionist was very welcoming and quickly sorted us out including a guide for dinner and breakfast. Room was a good size with the amenities you would expect, clean and comfortable. Although we had not expected it, the simple continental breakfast was included. Part of the hotel has JC’s bar/restaurant which was a great place to dine.

Avoid staying here if at all possible! We paid full rates & went out all day. Returned at 6 to find waste baskets dumped; nothing else! Front desk said that the bed had to be clear in order to have it made. There was nothing on it other than bed linens. Front desk said that they’re short staffed but they’re still charging full rates even though they’re saving on wages. As well, hallways are not clean and the whole place is looking worn. Stay away!

My husband & I stayed here for 3 nights , clean comfortable rooms with Keurig coffee maker , &fridge. I also asked for a kettle at front desk which i got. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was much better than we anticipated with choice of cereals, yoghurt , fruit ( apples & oranges ) hard boiled eggs, bagels cream cheese selection of breads and pastries. I would stay here again if I return to Powell River.

Stayed here 4 years ago. Rooms have been upgraded. Victoria at reception was exceptional. We also ate at the bar and had breakfast in the hotel. For a small town it was great. The breakfast cafe was being run by one woman but she was amazingly calm and efficient.
