My most repeated phrase: "Wow - this is amazing!". Top-notch guides (appreciated Keegan's local knowledge), chef Steve worked his magic, loved the cabana design/ reclaimed wood and exploring Desolation Sound via kayak.
Despite our locals desire to keep this secret….. it was a most amazing trip in every way. Thanks to our professional and fun guides Keegan and Jan and most amazing Chef Steve. Meticulous in every way.
This eco resort was amazing. The staff from check in until the finish line were friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be with. The resort itself was super cool fitting perfectly into its environment. The food was to die for and there was an abundance of it. We could not believe the caliber of talent in the 19 year old chef Esme. The daily guided tours were a little challenging at times for us but there is an option to take the day off and chill at the resort. I cannot say enough good things about Cabana and can’t wait to go again.
There are not enough words to describe all the wonderful experiences during our trip with Powell River Sea Kayak - at Desolation Sound, British Columbia Awesome guides Lancelot & Arianne, delicious gourmet food by Chef Steve and adventures in an incredibly beautiful place 💕💕 Many photos and videos to revisit the memories we created with family & friends!
Last week, my wife and I experienced the enjoyment of kayaking in Desolation Sound through the services and facilities of Power River Sea Kayaking and their Eco Resort. Our kayaking guides were above excellent; they were knowledgeable, very capable and performed in a very professional manner. More importantly, they were extremely nice and friendly people. The food and facilities were great, and definitely above what we expected for such a location. We are relatively inexperienced kayakers, but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would do it again!
My daughter asked me to go on a 4 day/3 night kayaking trip with her, and I am so glad I did. It totally exceeded my expectations. The guides, Marie-Pierre and Jan, were safety conscious and encouraging. The first paddle out to Kinghorn Island was a bit intimidating and long (17km), with some current and wind, but they stayed right with us and never made us feel that we were holding things up. The way back was much easier and faster, as the tide was with us and the water was flat calm. On the other days our group opted for shorter paddles to Refuge Cove and around the island. Both spectacular. Lots of eagles and interesting inter-tidal life. The cook, Esme, created amazing healthy meals with local ingredients including lovely lunches enjoyed at spectacular locations along the way. The Eco cabana resort is amazing. It is simple, but elegant and luxurious. The cedar cabins with on demand hot showers are so well designed with a very comfortable bed and lovely linens, and have a candle lantern. The first night was chilly and we had hot water bottles which were such a treat. Waking up to the view, the sound of the water and the birds in such a cozy cabin was so peaceful. Tea and coffee service to the cabins before breakfast was a lovely touch. Very nice open air common area for meals and snacks with a fire table for cooler temperatures. They even have yoga mats, which we took to a platform by the water in the mornings to stretch and work out any kinks while being warmed by the sun. There were several areas with chairs to sit and read or just soak up the mountain views. We used the paddleboards. They really have thought of everything. Such an amazing break from the world and a chance to re-connect, but each have our own space. I'd love to come back and stay longer.…
Last week I returned from a guided 5-day/4-night kayaking trip. It was a delight to paddle in the scenic waters of Desolation Sound along with harbour seals and harbour porpoise. Our guides, Alex and Sebastian, were very knowledgeable, personable, and attentive. Chef Steve treated us to gourmet meals that were as attractive as they were delicious. The accommodations were luxurious and went well beyond "glamping". The other guests were a lot of fun. The only down side was it ended too soon!
I had read the other reviews raving over this place and finally went out on a 5 day trip last week. It was beyond my expectations. The food was gourmet, the accommodation was luxurious and the guides were the best! Thank you Alex and Sebastian for making the trip so special and taking such good care of me, always giving me a hand getting in and out of the kayak. And for producing those amazing lunches out on a tiny islet in the middle of the Sound. And thank you Steve, for all the wonderful meals you prepared using local ingredients when you could and presenting it all so beautifully. The morning coffee at the tray outside my door was a highlight - full French press pot, a small carafe of cream and a HOT mug! What a treat! Just another indication of the attention to detail of this crew. I will be back!…
I travelled in September with cool weather. The guides were attentive and thoughtful. I really enjoyed the hot shower to warm up and get rid of the salt. Even better: hot tea delivered to my cabana at 7 am. The food was delicious, plentiful, and beautifully served. Although I was cozy enough with the fluffy quilt and wool blanket I tried out a hot water bottle the last nigh: pure luxury.
Let's just say that the pictures come close but the real thing is AMAZING. 4 days and 3 nights spent with wonderful guests, skilled and attentive guides, and beautifully prepared delicious meals every single time. Thank you to Adam for creating a beautiful holiday experience.
