Stayed here with the family in July 2020 - weird times! All dishwashing/personal hygiene had to be done at your own campsite (only alternative being the 2 paid showers). It's a campground so amenities are pretty basic but they do the trick.

The campground is right along a bluff on the west side of the island so you get a great view of the sunset from the Adirondack chairs provided. Hornby is small so you can get pretty much everywhere on the island within 15 minutes by car. We tended to bike most places using a combo of roads and the great trails!

We booked in April 2021 for August 2022, and spent the last year and a half really looking forward to our visit to Hornby. We had originally booked 2 waterfront sites with 15amp power service, which I have the email confirmation for. Fast forward to a few days before we arrived, I received a pre-arrival email that didn't mention anything about power. Hmmm, weird. I figured I had better email to ask about the power we had originally booked, as our RV relies on having shore power. The response I got, was they are working on upgrading the campsite services and were hoping to have power wired to the sites we had booked by now, but it hadn't happened yet. We didn't have much choice but to just make do - of course they were fully booked and didn't have any sites with services available.

I had heard from people I know who have stayed at Bradsdadsland that there were a lot of rules, particularly about noise. Other than no music, (which probably would have actually helped us drown out some of our noisy neighbors), this was probably the noisiest campground we had ever stayed in. There seemed to be multiple cars and at least 8 people staying in each site, which seemed to just amplify the noise. The sites are so close together you can hear every word of others conversations, and if your neighbors like smoking pot, you better like the smell too. With kids screeching at 7am until almost midnight, we had to keep most of the windows in our RV closed, which made for extremely stuffy and uncomfortable sleep. From other reviews, it doesn't sound like tribune bay campsite is much better for closeness of the sites or noise.

We did however, love the view from our waterfront site. I would maybe stay here again, but would definitely avoid the busy summer months, and hopefully they are able to add some services to the waterfront sites in the near future.

This is a lovely campground. We have stayed there twice and would note that it is much nicer when not crammed full (ie. during the busy season). When it is full and crowded, there is little privacy and quite a bit of noise (you can easily hear people talking and dogs barking all around). Although they make a big deal about controlling your dog, there was lots of dog noise this summer. And if people in the next campsite are smokers, you will feel like they are smoking in your own campsite. (Makes one appreciate our provincial parks' privacy.) They are very good about enforcing their music ban, so no one is blaring out music in their campsites. The setting is beautiful, and it is kept clean and well ordered, but much nicer when not completely full of people. Great wifi and friendly people working there. The playground seemed good for the kids. Also really good recycling and compost facilities, which are rare. A good base for exploring Hornby for sure.

This is a prime example of no competition or alternatives.

Hornby Island is a laid back, quirky destination with interesting walks, beaches and small businesses; none of them close to this facility.

First the good news; the views are good, sunsets can be beautiful, sites reasonably sized and overall, clean.

The bad news, the owner is officious, loves to write more rules and more rules which are only enforced at convenience , expensive (close to a hundred a night for us) , very limited hookup facilities for travelling RV rigs, and not close to the cool things on Hornby. Ferry traffic pounds by the site every hour. The playground is OK other than very noisy for campers in the vicinity. The sites near the playground are laid out in very awkward manner and not recommended for larger RVs or trailers.

Ocean access is via a set of stairs over the cliff edge and only accessible by fit adults and older children. Once at the water front, only rocks and off limits oyster beads.

Our bookings were messed up on arrival and staff was still clarifying their books two days later. The sani dump is a bad joke expensive. And there were add on fees for services usually included at most camping resorts.

Unfortunately our experience was not good. I phoned the campground and booked our accommodation for September, 2020. I was told their payment system was down but not to worry as they had my information and someone would call me back once their system was back up. I was concerned knowing they needed a deposit to hold the site but was assured it would be fine. After hearing nothing, I phoned back to find out they did not have my information and had given our site reservation to someone else. Martin offered No apology, no understanding of how this has impacted our travel vacation. I was asked if I wanted another site in awful location (in the back corner of the campsite, beside the main road and staring at a mobile home) or not because he wasn’t going to “stand here all day talking about it”...

Unimpressed

We have been visiting Hornby for over 9 years . Just got a camper and stayed at Bradsdadsland . So clean !! The freezer room is a plus to freeze ice packs . Out houses were so clean and flush toilets good with hot and cheep showers. Washer dryers . Staff were so helpful . I think they have new management . Quiet time enforced .

You know that awesome feeling you have when you go to a campground, set up camp and feel like you have an outdoor home away from home for a few days? Bradsdadsland is the only campground where I have felt like a guest who has to walk on eggshells instead of being in a home away from home.

The campground is beautiful albeit but very overpriced. If you are going to stay there, don't fall for paying 45$ instead of 35$ for a sea view. The view is so full of trees, I saw no benefit to the sea view spots.

Dealing with the owner Laz is like listening to nails scratching on a chalkboard. He has stringent and ridiculous rules and seems to really enjoy marching around the campground reminding people of them and enforcing them. Although I don't have children, I consider myself to be a considerate and conscientious camper. I have never had a problem following rules anywhere else but I have also never stayed in a place where the rules are so ridiculous. There is no music allowed at all, you MUST whisper after 11pm and the gates do not open at all for any reason between the hours of 11pm-7am. The signs in the bathroom have these little cutsie wipe the seat poems and they don't say thank you, they say thank pooh. That was just one more thing I had to roll my eyes at.

Originally I thought I would possibly return if the other 2 campgrounds are full and I really wanted to go to Hornby. Now I figure if I can't get a spot at The Co-Op or Ford Cove (which I really liked) I will sooner head to a different Gulf Island then stay at Bradsdadsland.

We stayed here for a couple nights over Canada day weekend 2017. The people on the phone were very friendly, pleasant to deal with and secured us a last minute spot with no visa required. The site itself is mediocre at best, not very private and the fire wood they sell for 15 dollars a handful is garbage (bring your own!) There is no store onsite, only one shower that you have to wait in line for, mop yourself and pay 25 cents for 35 seconds of shower time (in reality is about 20 seconds at best... timed*) No music is allowed at anytime of the day, your not allowed to talk after 11pm and there is a very annoying guy that walks around complaining about your fire after 11pm even if its burning low and your site is quiet. Wont be back

My family went to considerable effort and expense to visit Hornby Island and chose this campsite for our stay.
Until there is a change of management, I suggest staying somewhere else.
We were treated with an incredible lack of respect by the woman running the place. She needs to go through a Super Host program and learn the tools needed to ensure her guests have a pleasant visit and not to leave them feeling diminished, angry and unsatisfied.
