I booked a room for 4 ladies. When I checked in at 2pm I was informed my room had been given away to a group of students that would be staying at the hotel long term. We were offered a free room in an arts building behind the hotel. After inspecting the facility we turned it down due to mold...

The hotel had a certain 'musty smell' which was prevalent throughout. Our room was tiny with no wardrobe just two small drawers. The shower was hot but stopped running halfway through shower but did restart. Curtains looked older than the hotel. Would never stay there again. Be warned.

We stayed for 2 nights in August, a family of 4. We had 2 rooms joined via the bathroom. It may not suit everyone - no phone, no TV, patchy WiFi, creaking floors etc., but it's an historic hotel in a rural area so I wasn't expecting anything else. We thought the staff were all friendly and helpful and we...

Exterior blends in well to colourful Wells and the history of the hotel is very interesting. The bar has an impressive collection of scotch and beer. A pleasant common sitting area can be found on the main floor. Keep expectations for your room low as this is an old hotel - floors squeak, the walls are thin and the rooms...

Quoted room rate not the same as billing rate. Get you quote in writing. similar experience with other members in our group. Old building is like a drum, the sound permeates the entire building. The bed linen is older than the hotel. The dirt is built up in the corners deep enough I could chip it out in chunks with...

Lovely historical building but few amenities. My room was very small, just room for a double bed and 1 night stand. Sink was in the room because it wouldn't fit in the bathroom. No closet, just a short bar to hang clothes on and no hangers either except for the 2 they provided with robes hanging on them. Bed and...

Reading the negative reviews we were a bit apprehensive so our expectations were not high. This is an old hotel, our room was small but perfectly clean. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were very good. We thought the hotel had character and folks have...

We stayed here while we attended the Artswells festival. Our room was the smallest in the hotel but it was in the middle and in the front so we had a view. I really can't comment on the noise level as it was a music festival and it goes on pretty much all night but we were so tired from...

The rooms in this hotel are as close to original as you are likely to find. Small and cozy - feels like you are somewhat back in time. Our room at the back of the hotel was a little noisy (not sure what was going on outside) but our friends' room at the front was very nice and they had...
