In all fairness we didn’t go in. We drove into hotel parking lot and quickly turned around and left. The hotel is Situated immediately beside construction of a new child centre building on one side, Mac Donald’s drive thru on one side and a reservation at the back. In looking into the windows you can see rooms that have supplies and cast-away materials leaning against the window, windows that have leaked with condensation, curtains that are filthy and garbage outside of back rooms. It truly looks like an hourly rental establishment. - maybe the Bates Motel.

I’m not sure how a hotel can exist in this condition in this day and age!!!

Staff very welcoming. Quality fresh breakfast items provided. Has General room cleanliness re: sheets, bathroom, towels. Property needs upgrading..rugs very worn and soiled, walls need painting.
Overall stale smell in hallway probably from smoking trapped in the rugs.

I've stayed at many Whyndham chains over the years, in this Country and beyond, but this one was by far the worse.
I've stayed in some "shady" location throughout the years but this was beyond that.
Tucked off the side of the highway down a lane near a trailer park should have been the first clue.
We booked our stay at the last minute and should have shopped around. Knowing that it was 'Super 8 quality ' that we we're heading into, I didn't have high expectations, but I did expect a clean room and toilet paper in the washroom.
We arrived mid afternoon, dropped our bags and headed out for the evening, so I didn't give the room an inspection, except to notice the floor littered with what appeared to be bits of white paper.
As the Front Desk was busy, we didnt stop to let them know.
Arriving back later in the evening, it was off to bed.
The real suprise came in the morning when we found the mess in the washroom (see attached pictures).
This is an old Super 8 and well beyond anything "super."
One bright note...the Front Desk Staff was very nice.
Not a place I would ever consider staying at again....save your money and stay in long term parking near the airport.

After travelling the world for the last 18 months and staying in a variety of different hotels, motels and hostels this would have to rank up there with the absolute worst. Not only were the facilities terrible but the manager and staff were awful.

After a long wait at the check in desk while a staff member played on their iPhone we had trouble processing our check in. The manager came out to assist and looked like he was under the influence of marijuana. After making some very sexually inappropriate comments to a lady who was with us we were giving our key and made our way to the room.

The room itself was just as bad as the manager of the hotel. The bed looked like it had been made in a hurry and the bathroom was digusting. Obviously hadn't been cleaned properly and I could still see hair on the toilet seat which almost made me gag.

I could go on all day about how terrible this hotel was but I will leave it at that. All I can recommend is that under no circumstances do you stay here

Response from shahnaazc, General Manager at Super 8 by Wyndham Saanichton Victoria Airport
Responded Dec 12, 2013
Regarding customer complaint I have made every effort to contact guest to no avail. It is my opinion that his comments refer to a hotel other then mine. The General Manager is a lady.

Room was not that clean. There was no housekeeping at all one day. They offered no apologies for this. Silly rules with pets, and bikes. My husband's bike is valuable, we dont leave it in a car to be stolen.

I heard hotwire was a way of getting reduced rates at hotels, so thought I'd give it a try. I'm not much of a luxury guy, so cheapee hotels are fine with me. I booked with Hotwire knowing I was going to be staying at the Super 8 and that it had terrible reviews. Well, the reviews are accurate, the hotel really is quite awful. Rude staff and a strong smell of urine greet you in the lobby, the shabby, stained and threadbare carpets guide you to the hovel that will be yours for the night. But, I've stayed in worse, and the wifi works. I wouldn't bring kids, family or even pets that I liked, but for me on my own it'll do as an experience. I've slept under bridges in my youth, so can tolerate a lot, and to be honest I'd sleep under a bridge rather than stay here again.

My complaint really is about Hotwire. They charge you a fee for booking that doesn't get declared - it's hidden under "Tax Recovery". The fee is very high and I could have got the same room cheaper by just phoning.

So don't use hotwire, it's a con. Oh, and definitely don't stay at this Super 8. I'm surprised the health inspectors allow it to stay open. If this is Super 8's standard, they won't be getting any of my business again.

Our room wasn't cleaned once during our stay. The windows had no screens so we couldn't have the window open long before flys would come in. Both beverage machines were out of order. The drain kept dripping we had to keep the shower curtain closed to keep it from splashing out. Service was brutal I rang the bell like 4 times so I could get new towels but noone came to the front desk. All in all I would never return or recommend it to anyone else.

Booked this hotel through Expedia. It by far is the absolute most discusting hotel I have ever been in. The halls were so filfthy then when entering the room it was so gross the bath tub looked like it had never been cleaned, the bedding was not clean, the entire room top to bottom was filfthy. We left immediately and went to a much better hotel across the road. Do not stay here there are sketchy people all around and it is beyond gross. You probably would get bed bugs that’s how filfthy it is.
