We booked the hotel because of the spa and the because of the 5 stars. They call themselves a “luxurious boutique hotel”. Well, here is my review. Our welcome: The entrance is not very big and can be overseen pretty easy. But we made it to the parking lot. There is no check-in parking spot. Just park anywhere on the property and go to the door. When we entered, we saw a little lobby with a shop to the left and a counter on the right. We went to the reception and a young girl looked at us. No “welcome” or “how was your travel”. We mentioned that we want to check in and she said “yes – OK – you booked a garden room with king size bed.”. Still no “welcome” and no smile. I mentioned that we booked a suite over booking.com because this is our honeymoon. She told us that booking.com is doing always wrong and we booked the lowest category of room. I showed her my confirmation – it said “Suite” – and she got her manager. Still no smile – still no welcome feeling for us. The manager lady told us (without smile and hello) that this is always a problem of booking.com and we booked the garden room with king bed. I asked if she was angry at us – because there was no welcome and no try to help. She said that they treat all customers like this, and she has no hard feelings against us. Wow. I took the key, and we went to the room. Still in my mind: 5 star luxurious boutique hotel. The room: The rooms can’t get accessed from a hallway – only from the outside – directly from the parking lot. Well – like in a motel. The rooms have the size of a normal motel room with a bed, a table, to leather chairs and a fireplace with a timer. The furniture is a bit outdated. You have a coffee maker and a TV. The alarm clock is old (you can’t see the display anymore) and the phone is pretty old with no function (display, direct call etc.). The view from our room was nice to the ferry dock. The bathroom is functional with no amenities. Only some soap and some lotion in fixed bottles. You have a “walk in” shower with no hand shower. The highlight here is the jacuzzi tub. There is a little “balcony” with seating at the end of the room. The room was OK clean – bit dusty. The paint has some scratches and some dead mosquitos were hanging on the ceiling. In the tub was a long dark hair. Not from us. The AC was pretty loud – we could not use it during the night. When you turned the AC off you could hear the pretty loud fridge (no minibar). We tried to get no cleaning service – but they ignored our “don’t disturb” and cleaned the room anyway. They just did the basics. The Spa: My wife took some massages here – she liked them all. The hotel: There is no indoor-pool but there is one on the outside. This feels pretty old. They mention on the website that the pool is for adults only. But during our stay it was a playground for kids. There are two restaurants. The pub – no reservations – pretty busy – good food. And the restaurant. No complains here. The lobby crew is pretty young and unexperienced. We had a pretty contrast because we came from a real 5 star luxurious hotel (Paradox Vancouver). Lovely rooms – perfect service. So our stay at the Brentwood Bay Resort was not what we expected. Would I say this is a 5 star luxurious boutique style hotel – 100% not. I don’t know where the stars are coming from. I would say this is a pretty good motel or maybe some kind of lodge (lodge was the old name of the hotel). It is definitely not a resort, and I would rate them with 3 stars. With a better service, some amenities they could make it to a fourth star. Would I book it again: No – We don’t want to come back. The area is nice – the view is good – but the service and the wrong advertisement makes a bitter taste.

I thought I should say a few words about my recent 2 night stay at the Brentwood Bay Resort. The day started early and we were offered space on an earlier ferry from Tsawwassen arriving on the Island earlier than expected. We decided to spend time in Sidney, B.C. a cute little seaside town full of interesting friendly shops and restaurants. It was a chilly day and eventually we headed to Brentwood Bay Resort arriving around 2:30PM hoping our room was ready. We were advised check-in was 4pm and we would be notified when it was ready. There was not much to do as the “resort” is situated in a residential area adjacent a ferry landing. The outdoor pool looked inviting but it was cold, windy and raining and no access to a room to change. We walked the neighbourhood ending up sitting in the car to stay warm and dry. At 4pm I approached the check-in desk where 3 staff members were engaged in conversation. I enquired about our room and was told, without looking at me, “oh yes we have some rooms ready.” The hotel is a 3 story building with room entrance on the parking lot side much like a motel. Our room, on the top floor, was filled with light with a wonderful full wall of windows facing the water, moored boats and the ferry dock. The room, very West Coast, had a fireplace in one corner [which we used often]. The bathroom had a large jetted tub abutting the vanity [not the easiest to get into]. The king bed on a low wood platform. The bed, sink, and toilet are all low to ground which is great for shorter people but not those who are tall. The room appeared clean. It was very quiet. We visited the Pub and although almost full and very busy, service and food were great. The Cobb Salad comes with a jammy egg. Maybe asking guest at time of ordering if that is OK would be preferable. On returning to the room we decided a bath would be great. The bathmat had numerous holes? There was no soap except in a bottle at the back of the vanity 8 ft. away? The second night we returned to the room. The bed was made but garbage not emptied, dirty facecloth in shower, no water or cream for coffee {Nespresso}. The bed has the worst mattress of any hotel I’ve visited. On this visit I would give 3+ stars with the possible max being 4. This is not a 5* hotel. It is a lovely peaceful location with limited activities. It has very inconsistent housekeeping. Staff is young and need to reach out to guests if rooms aren’t ready or just to say “Hello”. 4pm check-in may be good for Brentwood Bay Resort but 3PM is the norm. Customer service should be paramount if only a kind, friendly acknowledgement. A Resort…No. Luxurious….No In retrospect I have questioned because this was a trip to a family funeral was I too sensitive? No I don’t think so. I have traveled the world and stayed in outstanding and ok places. This was 3+ stars with the ability to be a good 4 Stars.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are happy about certain things we did right but saddened about where we fell short. Our Housekeeping services could have done a much better job and we apologize for that. We are constantly trying to get better and hone our craft. Our check-in time is of 4:00pm and check-out of 11:00am is noted on our website and confirmation letters and standard to the majority of the industry in our area. The resort does offer a marina with kayak rentals, full service spa, dining room, pub, and 35 guest rooms. Resort...yes and we certainly offer plenty of wonderful services to feel special, relax and getaway from it all. We hope you choose to return under better circumstances, enjoy all the services we have to offer. Hopefully after this, we can change your mind.

I love the huge bathtub! Everything looks new and sparkling in this secluded resort. The view is a quiet bay surrounded by tall forest. All is quiet here. The food is good. I recommend the sashimi. The bread is local - Portofino - and, along with this toast, the preserves they serve with breakfast are the best.

Happy hour at BB, beautiful location and a great outdoor space weather permitting.. Good selection of happy hour appetizers along with wine but only 1 beer available, not my favourite. Would be nice to have a choice of beer as they have a number on tap. Service was excellent

A group of us recently stayed at Brentwood Bay Resort and while our experience at the Spa was wonderful, the same cannot be said for the pub. It seemed that from the time we arrived at the pub we were an inconvenience which is odd because you would think they would want guests of the hotel to eat there as well. It was quite unfortunate because the treatment we received from one staff member left a lasting negative impression that has coloured our whole visit. We did speak to the front desk staff about our concern following our dinner and we were told that a manager would follow up with us. This did not happen. A second trip to the front desk the following day also promised follow up, again with no result. A subsequent email sent to the hotel has gone unanswered. There will not be a return trip to this hotel.

We went December 24, 2022 to the Spa. A family treat. My massage was with Tyler a very experienced practitioner. I have also learned massage and he is quite knowledge and has extensive training about the body and what movements will help you. If you are thinking about getting a massage this is a great place to come.

A late August stay perched on an inside bay on Vancouver Island (about 30 minutes north of Victoria) was such a treat! It is the quintessential accommodation for a Pacific Northwest location. The rooms are uniquely laid out with decks overlooking the bay and sunsets. The art throughout the hotel is representative of the area. The hotel restaurant is excellent for dinner and breakfast. We were able to stay two nights--perfect!

I just spent my birthday night at Brentwood Bay Spa & Resort and I cannot say enough good things about our stay! Started with some treatments in the spa which were top notch by both our girls. Best spa experience by far! Went up to check into our room and was given a glass of local cider to enjoy. The room was immaculate and everything we were expecting and more. Beautiful view, super comfy beds, fire place, walk in shower. Went down and spent some time in the outdoor hot tub before heading to the pub for dinner. Food was amazing, drinks were on point, staff were amazing! We noticed that every staff member was helpful and cheerful and everyone looked like they enjoyed their job, which says a lot these days. The room was so quiet and the beds were so comfy which meant a good night sleep was had. Breakfast in the restaurant was again amazing, large portions, great coffee and the service again top notch and friendly. We even purchased a couple indigenous gifts from the gift shop. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend this place to everyone! 10/10!
