We stayed during the Victoria long weekend, in the deluxe ocean view room with the dining package. Room and view were beautiful! Concierge was very accommodating and personally went to fix the broken phone in room. The next day, a different concierge was accommodating of our inquiries and usage of the $100 dining credit. Our one issue came with some of the servers… Saturday morning, we arrived at the Arbutus room for breakfast at around 10am. There was another young Caucasian couple looking at the displayed menu in front of us (we ourselves are an Asian couple). They went to the host table and was seated within a few minutes. There were quite a few tables still open, so we assumed we would be seated directly after… but the servers (three young women) blatantly ignored us at the host table… for what felt like about 10 min. At first I thought, they must be busy, since one of them was frequently on the phone taking orders, but none of them even acknowledged us for that duration. A simple “give us a moment” would have sufficed… When we were finally seated, one of the servers gave us the menus and left us to peruse. But another 10-15 minutes went by after we were ready, of us raising our hands to get their attention while they directly passed our table and ignored us… and served everyone else. Maybe we were too passive and they simply did not see us at all, but I feel like the duration we were waiting to order was much too long without acknowledgement.. They also all seemed to be in a sub-par, grumpy mood… probably one of the worst services I’ve ever encountered.…
I stayed at this resort for 5 days. The staff are excellent Always friendly and very helpful. The heated pool was lovely to swim in, even when the skies were grey. I rented a kayak and had a good time wandering up the inlet and back
I had an unexpected medical emergency and the manager, staff were INCREDIBLE in accommodating needs. Policy is one thing but when life throws a curve ball at someone like me (disabled 60 year old female with PTSD), a touch of personal humanity is KEY! A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO the manager, the front check in staff who upon my arrival (along with housekeeping) did everything they could to help.....then the next day when I had to leave in such a sad rush.....the two check out women and again, the manager, well what more can I say. As a result of their ‘goodness’ I was able to pay it forward to two taxi drivers and one family from another country who helped carry some heavy items for me.....One person’s kind actions impacted the lives of three....thank you SO much to the staff of Brentwood Bay for making others, strangers and me have faith in HUMANITY (particularly given the mass school shooting in Texas). Life is short so please take a lesson from these kind people and make sure to be kind to someone, today.…
Love this place. The staff is excellent. Last time, I have an aesthetician who was incredible. She has special gift and make me relax. She said, we do not have to engage in conversation. You are here to relax and I will do my best to do that. I loved that because in the past ,I have great treatments but I didn’t relax. I feel I have to chat. Also the receptionist was super kind and offer me some cream samples. I loved their products.
My husband and I came to Victoria for our anniversary. We had originally planned to spend half our stay at Brentwood resort and half at a different hotel-we cancelled that to stay at Brentwood resort the whole time. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating. It is the best resort we have ever stayed at would recommend for anyone to stay!
This is a review for the spa only. The massage therapist I had was outstanding and the staff were pleasant and welcoming. The facilities are a bit cramped. The change room has one curtained shower area and a small curtained area if you wish to change in privacy. The room itself is quite small. The relaxation area is nice. It has a fireplace, refreshments and a view of the pool, which you are encouraged to use. Unfortunately, the massage bed was the worst I’ve ever encountered. I’ve had massages all over the world and in some pretty basic facilities. I was completely surprised to find how lumpy and uncomfortable it was. It defeated the purpose of having a relaxing massage.
Stayed for two nights in April 2022. Enjoyed our stay. Relaxing, Smiling, efficient staff, beautiful rooms. I liked the quite of it, being adult only boutique hotel. The rooms on 2nd and 3rd levels are better.
The manicurists are lovely, but this is NOT the spa to go for a special occasion, in my case pre-proposal, manicure. You get tucked to the side of the pedicure room which is in and of itself basically a glorified closet, and the station where my fiancée’s nails were to be done was behind the door… that opens into the room. So when my nails were done before hers and the manicurist tries to leave, she can’t open the door wide enough to get her stool out without slamming into that station and just abandons the stool and takes off. I mean to be fair the situation was funny for it’s ridiculousness but we weren’t going there for a physical comedy show. Also when they emailed to ask how it went the day after, my fiancée said she had a broken nail (had it when we went in. The glue they used didn’t hold) and could she come back in and get it glued again? 5 days later she still hasn’t heard back but she did go get another manicure at Classic Nail Spa in Broadmead to fix it. So I paid $200 and she had to get another manicure within a week. Tried to get the contact info for whoever’s running the show in there but it’s a closely guarded state secret apparently. Go to The Pier in Sidney if the Spa Magnolia downtown if the manicure counts!…
A combination of too much Omicron and atmospheric rivers on the evening news put us in discovery mode, and the result was this gem of a place. Very little has been overlooked. Room amenities were solid. Food in the pub and main restaurant filled the bill. Only thing we didn’t sample was the heated pool/ hot tub combo because of, well, another atmospheric river. Quibbles are minor. Rooms could use a few USB-friendly switchplate upgrades. Also, watch the wordplay. We booked the Eat to Your Heart’s Content two-night package, where it mistakenly implies you have a choice to book any of their three different room types for the same price. The choice is there; a consistent price point is not. Fewer words would make it more accurate. Nonetheless, a two-night stay here results in a standout attitude adjustment. Weekends also bring live music, another bonus. All rooms face Brentwood Bay.…
My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here in December and it was the ideal winter retreat. Great view, awesome room design and, best of all, a private hot tub. Check in was welcoming and staff amazing. We booked our second visit before we even checked out. Can't wait to go back.
