My wife took me here on my birthday last week. We arrived at almost 9pm after getting stuck in traffic and were afraid we were too late. The lady at the bar asked chef and they accommodated us anyway. I had a pea risotto and my wife had a steak. Food was excellent. The staff were friendly and professional and...

We called in for lunch and were very impressed by the warm welcome from the staff and the restaurant area had a great ambience. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the choice of food from both the regular menu and the specials board was good. We all decided to have fish and chips followed by blackberry crème brulee...

So much better than stopping at the services, friendly service & good steak! This was a recommendation & it really was so so worth the 2 miles divert. Make sure to let someone try the local ales & others to try the Steak. I will enjoy coming back here

We stopped here for lunch en route to the Lakes. We were delighted, the food was excellent and the coffee wonderful. The welcome as soon as we opened the door was lovely and we felt right at home. We will definately call again.

Saw some of the staff on their stand in the food hall at the Westmorland show and decided to book for dinner - well worth it ! Only a couple of miles from the show ground, The Plough was easy to find with plenty of car parking. Decided to go with items on the special menu and were not disappointed....

We only wanted a light meal so I chose crab pâté with Melba toast & my husband had the special pork pie with piccalilli. The pie was a generous slice from a round but the pastry was...

We found this place whilst on the way to the Lake District. We decided to stop off for a bite to eat and were very glad we did. The pulled beef sandwich and chicken and pesto sandwich were both excellent. The staff were friendly and jolly and the decor was nice with exposed beams and open fire. Would definitely visit...

Outstanding room, felt like a film star, with all the space and enormous bathroom and bedroom. Power shower brilliant and sitting room area great for relaxing. Bed was brilliant with a real feel of quality to all the linen and accessories in the room.

I received an email about rooms becoming available here last weekend for the Sunday night and the rate they were offering to fill the rooms (£150 DBB) seemed too good to be true. We booked into the Torsin Room for the night. The room was lovely. Extremely large! Bathroom was definitely the highlight though. Beautiful fixtures and fittings, very luxurious....
