We loved the "community" this place was so great. Enjoyed walking to the town, seeing both harbors, and the little Red School House! Great to see that no vehicles for visitors are allowed on the island. Didn't see the buffalos, which was the only disappointment....More
Want a wonderful romantic or solo getaway where you can unplug for a couple days, enjoy spectacular views (of the Isthmus on one side and Catalina Harbor on the other), and top off your full day of activity or relaxation with a sunset wine & cheese...More

Thank you for choosing the Banning House Lodge. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
Banning House dates back to 1910 - back when it took two days to get there from Avalon. It is rustic, it is peaceful and absolutely delightful. The staff was totally hospitable and welcoming.
Nothing better than sitting in the reading room and looking out...More
The Real Catalina. Years ago we’d come by boat to dive. This time, celebrating a big birthday, the boat was little ferry from San Pedro on a spring day. Warm welcome from the host who shuttled us from dock uphill to the lodge. Killer views...More

You can have all of that in two harbors.I would recommend calling the visitor center, they are so helpful! The banning house lodge is low key and gives more of an unplugged experience on the two harbors side of the island. There is a room with its own staircase and amazing view that would be awesome for a honeymoon!!
Also, ask the visitor center about reserving cabanas on the shore front that time of year, they look so cool.
We got there by the boat(Catalina express) out of San Pedro, but the summer schedule offers more options. You can also take a helicopter and then ask for a taxi or pick up.
I highly recommend kayaking and going in the caves at low tide. We had an awesome time doing that.
Hope this helps!
