Second visit and I can only say "absolutely brilliant". Everything about this place is great, location, ambiance, staff and especially the food. We had the set four course meal preceded by two "gifts" from the kitchen. Everything is of a very high quality and all being well we will return - THANK YOU for a very memorable meal.

Check in and welcome: Very nice and warm welcome Room: Small bedroom, but nice and unique interior design, small bathroom (esp. shower), nice cake and fruits every day, water for free, no TV Dinner: We decided to go for the "Douce" menu for 164 EUR a person - each course was absolutely perfect! I especially loved the dessert (the best... More

It's our fourth time in three years. Every time there is a very special occasion, our choice is made and the 600km round trip worth every km. Douce Steiner now has 2 Michelin stars, and never ceases to surprise us. The food combinations are new, the cooking perfect, the tastes are wonderful. What sets her apart from many chefs is... More

Went as a party of four. Was overwhelmed by the food. All the dishes were mastered to perfection. An eight course menu with qualities and produce rarely encountered on a table today. I must say that this meal is ranked one of my best ever...A heavenly experience... Obviously will be back...

Located in nice little village in the Black Forest it is a cosy little restaurant ready to capture your senses and captivate your memory. Like mine with the best ever foie gras recipe or the excellent Saint Jacque oysters. (Take a look at the pictures). The cooking is french with international touches Of course there is an excellent and extensive... More

Douce Steiner's Hirschen is a lovely small hotel and restaurant in central Sulzburg. The reception in the restaurant was warm but they keep it low key, no 5 Star service but a friendly staff which does the job well. The food was delicious from the starter to the dessert, whereby I was the least impressed by the dessert. The boudroie... More

Review for the hotel: Most people staying here come to enjoy the wonderful cuisine. The hotel itself is nice and the rooms refurbished. Everything's pristinely clean with an attention to detail. Clearly, the highlight is breakfast, though. Served by chef Douce Steiner herself, the breakfast is fantastic (see picture). Attention: No wifi, no TV, but plenty of magazines in the... More

A dear friend introduced us to this hidden gem. We were warmly greeted by one of the owners. The service was excellent; friendly and relaxed. We opted for the sunday menu. The two complementary starters were perfect. The first course was seabass with shrimp pairing. The second course was a chicken ravioli which was outstanding. The third course was a... More

Not alone in our beliefs, as the folks from a nearby country, Michelin, recognize the kitchen of Douce Steiner with two of its stars, the only female chef with that recognition in Germany. My wife and I "saved up" our celebratory 36th wedding anniversary celebration to treat our 3 young adult children to a dinner here at Hotel Hirschen, the... More

Invited by friends to this simple town near the Black Forest, we were bowled over by our meal. The hotel is very simple but amply sufficient for a short stay. Welcomed by a lovely and friendly lady at reception, we immediately felt in good hands. Dinner was amazing. We loved everything, a light and fresh hand with precious ingredients. Beautiful... More
