Well after a rocky start at this hotel, i can honestly say the staff & managment restored our faith. We could'nt thank the staff enough especially when they helped after my husband fell ill plus extended our booking. This is a great location for shopping, restaurants & the street markets. The hotel is having a refurb but dont let it...

I've stayed at the Grand before and thought it was a nice hotel in a good location for central Bristol, next time I'll be staying somewhere else. On-line check in promised avoiding queues and having my key available when I arrived (which I selected as before noon). I arrived at noon only to have to a) stand in a queue...

This was a business meeting with overnight stay for 19 people. The meeting room was fine and the meeting went well for the first day - except for the lunch (see below). However, the evening check-in was chaotic with a 20 minute queue and staff who did not seem to know what they were doing. We discovered that it was...

I was there three days for a conference in the hotel. The pace is tired. The lunch food was unappetising. The downstairs bar was dull and tired looking. Just lacked any appeal. Many of my colleagues complained about cold bedrooms. No heating on second floor.

I've stayed at The Grand before and have previously rated it highly. The hotel is quite old so things 'creak' at lot but it seems to be kept to a generally high standard. This time however I had a bad experience. I arrived after a very long day at 8pm and the lady in reception couldn't find my booking. I...

Having read some of the previous reviews I was worried the standards might have dropped since my last stay here. I was aware of the refurbishment work going on, however this had no affect on my stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Paul, they should call...

Upon arrival at the hotel we were given our room. How disappointed we were to be given one of the 'newly refurbished rooms' it had dark coloured walls, it was morose, the wardrobe was about a foot wide and had a small ironing board in it, so there was no space to hang clothes at all, instead the 'new' design...

We booked to stay here in a Junior Suite with lounge area in May 16 and 24hrs before we were due to check in on 26th November we received an email to say the room was not available and so we had been downgraded. We had specifically chosen this room due to travelling with our 8 month old son requiring...

Booked a room in May to stay in November with a baby. Received an email downgrading us to a smaller room 24 hours beforehand. Hotel were not interested in resolving. Engaged booking.com and we got transferred to another Mercure. The booking included a complimentary mini bar to include wine and snacks - this was not provided as the hotel "no...
