Rooms need updating urgently. There was cellotape all over the wall in the bathroom to attempt to hide peeling wallpaper (see photo). Only 2 TV channels worked, sticky TV remote. Very old building so can hear everything, difficult to sleep. Seems like the bar is the priority and hotel guests are not. No phone, minimum toiletries, no glasses for water...

Channings has improved in recent years. Staff are friendly & service is much quicker. Great beer garden so worth a visit. Food still is very average and could be better. Good location near Clifton!!!!

Four of us stayed for one night, good location, charming looking building. All the staff we dealt with were polite, very helpful and professional in all aspects of our visit. The food was good "pub food", for me good veggie burger and lovely veggie breakfast. The meat eaters were equally happy with food and service. Some very good local beers...

In a fine old building, the hotel has a spacious attractive bar and dining area. Sadly the rest of the hotel is a bit tired, and in need of modernising ; don't expect luxury. On this visit the duty manager was very welcoming and helpful. I slept well in the 3rd floor bedroom, and enjoyed a truly excellent breakfast; nothing...

The location is great. Walking distance to some very nice shops and restaurants. The bar is ok - popular with students. The bedrooms are abysmal. The whole hotel needs a lick of paint. The bathroom had holes in the walls. No toiletries, the thinnest towels I have ever seen. There was a kettle but only 3 tea bags why ???...

Where to begin? My father at 87 wished to celebrate his birthday with a lunch at the Channings, remembering its heyday (clearly quite some time ago). A party of 8 people pitched up for Sunday lunch therefore. And that's where it all went wrong. 50% of the beers were off. Service was execrable, nearly 3 hours for a lunch. Even...

Stayed here while having a birthday night out in bristol. Great location just a walk from whiteladies where there is everything you need. Staff were very friendly and the beer garden was great. Room. Was clean and a decent size no issue with it

Hotel is perfect for people needing a place to crash at the end of a night out in Bristol. In Bristol for a family members birthday and the hotel was in the perfect location. The two staff members that were there over the evening of the 16th were brilliant. Kept the secret of a surprise additional guest and we had...

The staff are lovely and friendly. Bar is stunning and the outside space is used well. Breakfast was fab and the evening food was really good value. Walk into town centre wasn't too bad and the zoo is really close. The only thing I would say is the mattress was very soft. But other than that we'd happily come back!
