Should have realised what we were in for when greated by a scruffy looking old man who looked like he was in need of a good wash, his shoes and trousers were dirty too....had an upstairs bedroom which had a double 4 poster (if you can call it that) and it also had a single bed - bed linen needs... Have spent the last week on holiday in Chester staying in one of the courtyard rooms at Derry Raghan Lodge. Unlike other reviewers I found the room to be very pleasant, the owner was pleasant, helpful and for a man who's life has been nothing but trauma recently decidedly cheerful as was the young guy who was employed there. The... More

Facilities and location ok, breakfast poor, but the unpleasant smell overshadowed any redeeming qualities which may have been present. Would not return.

This B & B is really an awful place, there was an unpleasant smell upon entry and the initial impression upon arrival was that the place needed a good clean. The younger gentleman can only be described as drunk and there was no welcome or greeting upon arrival. In fact once we asked to view our rooms matters turned rather... More

Unpleasant smell in the public areas which drifted up and permeated the bedroom. Breakfast was edible but no more. Could see into part of the kitchen and it didn't look very nice.. Room was OK but en-suite was actually little more than a cupboard with a shower and a loo - the sink was in the bedroom. Nice powerful shower... More

We asked for the room to be cleaned straight away and promised that it would be done before we got back. This promise was broken and the room... More
